Center for the Creative Arts (CCArts) strives to make the arts accessible to as many people as possible, because we believe that the arts are essential for human development, academic success, and for enriching our culture as a whole. CCArts acts as a safe and nurturing space for people of all ages and abilities to explore Visual and Performing Arts programming, whether it be through a weekly class, a youth summer camp, our Annual Artisans Show, a community art exhibition, the Hot Jam Music Festival, or our outdoor markets.

History

Established in 1980.

For over 40 years, Center for the Creative Arts (CCArts) has been dedicated to providing the local community with Visual and Performing Arts programming. CCArts was founded in 1979 by Marilyn L. Proctor for “the purpose of establishing and maintaining a Center where people may have the opportunity to enjoy and participate in the arts as an enrichment to their lives and of the community.” Shortly after the organization’s founding, CCArts moved to our current facility at 410 Upper Snuff Mill Row in Yorklyn, renting the Yorklyn Elementary School from the Red Clay Consolidated School District. In its first few years CCArts established itself as a vital part of the local scene and beyond. In offering a variety of exciting creative programming for people of all ages and abilities, CCArts was able to grow a passionate and supportive community which remains to the present day.
