The Market at Miami Design District

This is a cool Miami outdoor market full of specialty vendors who make items that may not be so…read moreeasily found elsewhere. Unique home decor, art, fashion, design, food and so much more. Markets for Makers was originally founded in 2015 and have expanded to a few different locations. After speaking with some of the vendors, this Miami Market for Makers usually takes place at The Moore Building on a multi level indoor space. The outdoor market in the Miami Design District at Jungle Plaza seems to be a relatively new concept. They thrive on helping small businesses get to the forefront of the community. I love this. The outdoor space is stunning and the hosts of the event are incredibly organized and efficient. Love the space, decor, vendors and just about everything about this event. Keep an eye out on their website for upcoming dates as this is not a regular weekly farmers market type of event. The event taking place this weekend is Sat 3/20 and Sun 3/21. Happy to be able to attend this and check out all the cool vendors involved. They maintain safety precautions by asking all attendees and makers to wear masks at all times except when you're eating or drinking. There is a space with picnic tables for this. Tickets to attend the event start at $7 and kids under 12 are free. Buy your tickets for $7 online and get priority entrance otherwise it's $10 at the door without priority entrance. VIP tickets are also available for $15 but this is only available online and looks like the early bird pricing for this ended on 3/10. VIP ticket included priority entrance all weekend at any time, access to VIP preview hour on Sat at 11am-12pm before the general admission people arrive at 12pm. There are over 90+ makers displaying their coolest stuff at Market for Makers. Tons of cool photo Instagrammable photo walls around the event. You can text "MIAMIM4M" to 33222 to get the full map and list of all makers involved. Come out for a beautiful day outdoors and check out these cool makers. After you're done, stick around and walk around the Miami Arts District. You won't regret it. I can't tell you how much I love this outdoor market concept, especially during this time of Covid.

I came last Sunday 08/30. They helped me with everything. If you ever go to the Citadel rooftop, make sure they're taking care of you.

The Citadel is a food hall that really gets it right. They have amazing vendors where locals want to eat at, a great bar, strong wifi, and easy parking. No matter the time of day you visit - you can certainly find something you'd like here. My favorites are Vice City Bean for coffee, Maki-San for sushi and of course USBS for burgers. There are plenty of tables to dine at, and you can definitely post up there to work or catch up with a friend. My favorite hack is to roll up in the early afternoon, because happy hour starts at 4 pm and the wines are $6 and they have bites on the menu that start at $5. My go-to is a glass of white wine and two hand rolls for around $15 - total steal! Service has always been friendly no matter the vendor I visit and I love the community vibe. If you want to shop, they have some cool local stores there too. And for those with a sweet tooth, there is scandy candy in one of the shops. There is parking in the back lot that usually is not full but if it is there is also metered street parking.

The produce is always abundant and varied, and always tastes amazingly fresh! They have really played an important role in sticking to my mostly organic, vegan diet. The customer service is also top notch, which is a rarity in Miami. I have the owners' number stored in my mobile and have contacted them on numerous occasions to add on to my orders, suspend delivery, even cancel at the last minute (which only happened once but was not an issue), or just to thank them for another amazing box! They are always quick to respond and to accommodate my requests; not to mention they're super friendly. They have even arranged to deliver cases of bananas and juicy peaches right to my doorstep! The great customer service is not limited to the owners, but to their staff as well - special shout out to Sharon MacArther and Dennis! I am moving out of the country for a couple of years, but when I return to Miami I will definitely be resuming my deliveries. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Organic Grown Direct and can't thank them enough for the service they provide.
