i would not recommend this place whatsoever. i stayed here for a month for my eating disorder and it didn't help much. first of all emily the dietitian is horrible. she tried to change the center for discovery rules, she doesn't listen to patients and what they need to recover, never owns up to her mistakes, never orders the right groceries, refuses to allow patients to advocate for themselves, unwilling to compromise with patients, forces patients eat food exposures they aren't ready for, forces staff to do things for her (such as making copies) makes up her own serving sizes for meals, and make's patients supplement for leaving three carrots on their plate because they didn't have enough time to eat. this woman is trying to take control over cfd and it's making this place extremely miserable. julia, my therapist never really helped me in any way either. she never knew how to answer my questions and "validated me" but didn't have an answer to how i can cope with my ED, anxiety, BPD or PTSD. she also was very unprofessional in many ways when it came to communication. we did this thing called contract group, and it's basically a piece of paper telling you if you made progress or not. for the whole 5 weeks i was there i apparently made no progress according to emily and julia. after we were all given our contract we would end up crying about it. it seems so strange to give someone with an eating disorder and other mental health problems a paper telling them they made no progress. i felt like i made so much progress but i didn't and it was hurtful. i left center for discovery yesterday and i learned not much about how to manage my eating disorder and now i'm scared i'm going to relapse. although my experience was bad. id like to thank melissa. luz, gerald, katya, and sam for being wonderful staff members and making me feel safe.
