Since my first appointment for dental work on 1/10/18, my life has been a bit of a whirlwind with issues regarding the work completed. On this date, I had multiple fillings, crown prep and a same day crown placed. This was the biggest mistake of my life. To sum the rest of the weeks up, I had five follow-up visits. Each visit was due to pain. I was told everything from it was just my bite that needed adjusting to I may need a root canal on the tooth that had a crown placed. During one follow-up appointment, Dr. T. Wilkins reworked a filling that he had previously placed, thinking this may be the source of my pain. Nothing was touching the pain. I was told to just give it a few more weeks.
Finally, I had enough of the pain. I called a local dentist and their office could get me in for a second opinion. After this appointment, I wanted to check with another dentist, just so they could review my files, before and after Dr. T. Wilkins started and completed his work. Both of these dentists were very firm in their findings that there had been a lot of work completed that was not warranted.
After making another appointment with the dentist that I choose to go to moving forward, I was referred to an Endodontist. Long story short, I had a root canal on the tooth that had the same day crown placed. Before the root canal, the endodontist reviewed my bitewings from before the crown prep and compared them to after the crown placement. It was noted that my pulp horn was damaged during the prep work. This is not the only part that has been upsetting. I will have to have two other root canals on teeth that Dr. T. Wilkins placed fillings in for the same reason.
When I called Dr. T. Wilkins office to ask for any type of refund, I was told that Dr. T. Wilkins would meet with me to discuss how he came to his findings and to substantiate the work that was done. During this call back, it was stated that he made the decision based upon my past experiences. This is disheartening because a dentist should base their treatment plan on their expertise and education, not a patient's past experiences. I declined the meeting because I felt it would get me know where.
Unfortunately, now I am still experiencing issues with the right side of my mouth due to the pending root canals. However, I am unable to have them completed at this time because I do not have dental insurance and have already spent $5,100 since January on dental work. This review is being provided for the benefit of others to not become blindsided by the updated technology of the office and seemingly educated dental staff. read more
