Steve Fries, C.P.O. took his time working with my wife trying on and testing various braces before finding right one. Steve also advised we change her shoe type and recommended a shoe store that was very experienced in fitting shoes that accepted an AFO. After using the new brace and shoes for a hours my wife was in tears questioning why our health care providers didn't recommend a fitted AFO sooner. Her "gait" and foot angles are greatly improved and she is now walking with 100% confidence. We can't say enough good things about Brevard And Steve Fries. If you or a loved one has "dropped foot" or any other type foot, ankle or leg handicaps, encourage your health care provider to write you a prescription for an appropriate device and you won't be disappointed if you go to Brevard. As a side note, we inquired about a "sleeping" brace. Steve had my wife try one on that fit perfect and was very comfortable. Steve was very upfront with us in telling us our insurance wouldn't cover the cost of the sleeping brace. After hearing this we were braced for a big expense to acquire this device. Chris was a delight and extremely helpful with helping us choose yarn for a project my husband had in mind that did not use a yarn that is easily obtained in America (Schachenmayr). She had a gorgeous selection in tons of different colors, and was able to liven up visit with fun anecdotes about her shop, her knitting, and her own person while she wound up over a kilometer of yarn we had purchased with no fuss. We loved coming here and we would gladly stop by once more, or reach out to her by phone to have her assist us in any way she could, assistance she was happy to offer us before we went back on the road for our trip home.

Start to finish my experience with the joint replacement Institute was disappointing. I got x-rays and then I saw Sarah, a PA. I took an appointment with a PA rather than Dr. Heron in order to get in sooner. I was asked by the scheduler to explain my reasons for being seen, then a technician asked me to go over everything with her again, and when Sara came into the office, I felt as though there had been no communication amongst them. She asked me why I was there. Sarah has a lot to learn about patient care. I did not feel as though she was knowledgeable or helpful in any way. I felt as though her diagnosis was off target and her suggestions for possible treatment were uncaring and I don't believe they would've resolved my problems. Her guesstimate of what was wrong with my thumb joint was very different than a previous diagnosis I've had from another doctor. I don't believe she had even looked at the x-ray and I was never shown the x ray during the appointment. This whole experience has been a waste of time and my money. I am thoroughly frustrated that I will now have to start all over with a new provider. One who will hopefully make the correct diagnosis and provide me with options to deal with my joint problems and pain. I also felt as though the administrative staff were arrogant and detached. The only person in the office that seemed to be doing a good job was the girl who called me in and took me back to the appointment room. Ugh! Good luck getting good care here. I would not waste my time if I were you.

I cannot review their Doctors but if they do not get rid of their overseas call center it will…read moredestroy their business. It takes 20 min to make an appointment. No one comprehends english. They put you on hold 10 times and say they are confirming information. This foreign call center has access to quite a bit of medical information and they are asking questions that should not pertain to scheduling an appointment. When I stated the Drs office has all of that information they still insisted I provide them the information prior to scheduling the appt. They keep having to relay info to a supv for some reason and put you on hold multiple times. Its a very inefficient way to run a professional medical practice. It is quicker to drive to the office to schedule the appointment.

Dr. Wallace ordered an MRI which is conveniently located in the Joint Replacement Institute practice. His staff worked with my insurance when they first denied coverage even though it was the last few days of the year and my family had more than met the deductible. The MRI was covered and revealed a 50% torn rotator cuff and Dr. Wallace suggested PRP (Plasma Rich Platelets). Blood is drawn from the patient and spun to produce PRP which contains a mixture of platelets, including cytokines and growth factors, and has anti-inflammatory properties which injected into an injury site can stimulate the healing process.
