Big thanks to Averill Sutchar and his team at Center for Athletic Performance and Physical Therapy (Scottsdale, AZ)! Their dedication to my recovery and absolute professionalism along this road continues to blow me away Averill stayed in constant communication with my orthopedic surgeon. Together they assisted me on the road to recovery. Averill is very personable and a great guide for recovery. Averill, along with Christian, Jessie, Scott, and a several other physical therapists guided me every step of the way with care. They allowed me to push myself hard but without allowing me to endanger my well-being. The Center is state of the art, super clean and there is plenty of parking. The center is conveniently located inside the Victorium. read more

I want to give this center a better review but I can't. I went to a PT here 2 years ago for IT band issues. She was good and gave me exercises that I could do with her and at home. It worked. Now in October 2018, I was sent here for a hamstring issue. The PT said it was a piriformis problem and we did therapy for over a month with no improvement. After an MRI in November showing a hamstring TEAR, I went back to the PT thinking that exercises needed to help a torn hamstring had to be different than that for piriformis. I went back and oh yes, now he tells me to NOT do any of the exercises he had me doing for piriformis. These are all contraindicated. And BTW, my hamstring pain increased over this period of time. Having no faith now in this PT, I sought a second opinion from another PT that I had gone to for previous injuries. He re-assessed the hamstring and gave me a set of totally different exercises. Still no relief, so after seeing my Dr. again, we have decided on cortisone injections coming up. When I told him the first PT had originally said it was a piriformis issue, he said, "I love it when PT's play Dr." Bottom line, I started PT in October and I truly believe the exercises he gave me initially made the problem worse. I trusted him to help, not exacerbate the problem. It is now February and I am looking at cortisone injections in March. Very disappointing. read more

This place is great!!! Very surprised they didnt have a review actually. Granted, most of the people who have gone here might not want to write a review about an injury they had...Regardless, glad I could be the first. This place helped me out with my shoulder, quickly. Tom, Scott and Sam personally worked with me and made me feel comfortable as well as healthy again. I never once felt like I was "just another patient" here, being in pain is hard enough, their attitudes made me feel I had some friends here. I am a nationally ranked athlete in my event for Track and Field, seeing patients be injury free was something the whole staff really takes pride in. Iv seen these guys work on all kinds of injury's with all kinds of age groups! It doesn't matter if your 70 years old and have had knee replacement surgery or are a professional athlete. These guys will get you healthy. I felt at home here and well taken care of. I signed up for the personal training services right when my rehab for my shoulder was done. Amy and Kyle have helped me develop my overall strength and conditioning as well as providing specific training for my event. These guys rock. Thanks guys!!! read more

Fantastic results and full-recovery working with AJ Kimmich at Center for Athletic Performance in Scottsdale. AJ customized a plan for my rotator cuff injury that helped me avoid surgery! Great facility, quality care with a focus on truly enabling patients to return to pre-injury status. AJ knows his stuff - something that became apparent after the first visit. Front desk always accommodated my requests for appointments and AJ was flexible to work around my schedule. Thanks guys! Nice to be back at full-speed! Darren read more

Averill is as knowledgeable as they come with athletes and rehabilitation. He is very hands on and listens to all your concerns. dry needling is a little pinching but it works! Heat, Ice, electrodes and all the equipment you need to get back to yourself preinjury. I would definitely say this is a well recommended facility with all the bells and whistles. Rarely would one think of finding an EXTRAORDINARY lunch of Fish and Chips at an Athletic and Physical Therapy location, BUT - on Fridays, 12 noon -1:30pm, Chef Terry made my wife (from Liverpool) and I - the BEST EVER, along with the server, Mariana, who also makes an AMAZING Berry-Berry Smoothie and Chocolate Banana Smoothie - better than any in Chicago or Scottsdale. We had heard the "hype" and then lived the "hype" with a GREAT DELICIOUS LUNCH. Thanks Chef Terry and Mariana . Margaret and Mark known as M&M. read more

This new facility is top notch. They offer state of the art training and rehab. They were instrumental in getting me back on the field for my 7th pro season, and got me ready for my 8th. Averill is a great therapist who does exceptional dry needle work, I've sent many other pro athletes to him and they all agree! Go check this place out if you want to take your game to the next level! Kevin Munson read more

Tom Bratcher is the most attentive and professional physical therapists that we have found. Tom takes the time to truly look at the whole body to figure out the problem. Toms' dedication to his patients is so apparent. He takes all the time needed to make sure each patient gets the rehab they need. All the other therapists we've gone to would spend 45-60 minutes each session. Tom will spend 1-3 hours each session to make sure each patient is getting everything they need to heal as quickly as possible. My gratitude to Tom and his staff simply can't be measured. We will never go anywhere else! read more

This place was fantastic. I've had IT Band pain for the past year and after a half dozen treatments I'm feeling so much stronger and pain free. Tom is very good at understanding the pain and how to approach the best process for each patient. Thanks again Tom and staff! read more

Whether you are recovering from an injury, trying to prevent one, or want to take your sports performance to the next level the Center for Athletic Performance is the place to be. I couldn't thank Tom and the staff more for their continued care and support. As a competitive endurance athlete who has had five back surgeries due to a cycling accident over the last 4 years years I have spent a lot of time in rehab. with several different physical therapists. I couldn't be more grateful that I have found the Center and have all the faith in Tom and the staff that I will be back competing at a high level again thanks to them. The difference between the Center and other places is that at the Center everyone truly cares about you and you are not known just for your injury. Whether you are 7 years old or 70 years old, you are treated with the same respect and professionalism. The skill level of the staff is off the charts, and many professional athletes rehab. here for that reason. Everyone's positive attitude has kept me going through the more difficult frustrating moments and the triumphs. There is no place I would consider or recommend other than the Center For Athletic Performance & Physical Therapy and I plan to stay on with them continuing with performance enhancement following rehab. The Center is truly a place where you can feel at home while rehabbing and training. Thanks to everyone at the Center!!! read more

Amazing staff, top of the line equipment, and almost always able to get an appointment next day!

DON'T GO HERE. They are more focused on churning out insurance bills vs. quality treatment. My husband's last two visits did not include even an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from a Licensed PT, let alone one minute of manual therapy or treatment. He was immediately directed to a student, yet billed for the PT session as if a Licensed PT treated him. I reached out to the Clinic Manager, Tom B., to express our dissatisfaction and give him an opportunity to make it right. Tom took zero responsibility for this unethical practice. He claims that they are "proud to help the students further their training under the PT's guidance..." which is really code for "cheap labor at PT billable rates." We've both had years of PT treatment and there is nothing wrong with the students guiding the exercise portion of the visit, but the PT absolutely should spend some time with each patient on manual therapy. We felt that they overtly misrepresented their services in billing for the visits, and we have filed a complaint with our insurance company. I personally had exceptional treatment at Spooner PT / Desert Ridge if you're looking for quality PTs in the area. Kaitlyn did a great job for me. read more

I have gone to Tom Bratcher P.T. on two separate occasions for two different shoulder issues and I am currently under his care for the second shoulder issue... I have found Tom Bratcher P.T. and everyone of his techs to be educated, Informed and patient and all of them work very closely with one another... I highly recommend Tom Bratcher P.T. is facility. read more

I really liked going when I was working with Kendall before she moved but most of the time I was doing exercises by myself and once in a while I would be checked on by an intern. Once Kendall left and I got a new PT, he was pretty green and the prices they were charging went up. They had my card on file and would charge after each visit. Then a few months later I get a bill for over $140. I left 3 messages at the phone number on the bill for Connie the billing person and never once received a call back. I called the main number and spoke to someone who told me the prices went up because the new PT changed some of the exercises. This seemed a little bit ridiculous since I was pretty much doing to same thing every time. I asked the person to have Connie call me which she never did. I paid the bill recently just to clear it up and just got a nice past due notice in the mail (although they may have crossed in the mail). read more

This facility is amazing!! Trusting someone when you are in pain can be hard to do at times but if you are in pain then this is the place for you. I would recommed this place to anyone of my friends or loved ones. You wont regret going to the center! Everyone is amazing and they have a great front office staff! Parking can be tight at times but if thats the only complaint I'd say they are most def a 5 star!!! Thank you CAP PT read more

I cannot recommend Center or Athletic Performance enough. I had a hip scope to repair a torn labrum and actually went to another place for PT first. My Doctor wasn't happy with my recovery so he sent me to Tom and I am glad he did! Tom has gone above and beyond in helping me. He treats everyone the same whether you are a professional athlete or a stay at home mom he wants to help you equally! I am so grateful for everything him and his staff have done and would recommend this place to anyone. My hip is grateful too! :) read more

I have gone to Center for Athletic Performance and Physical Therapy off and on for the last three years. When I first started, I met with Tom and he made me feel comfortable and confident that I could get better. Thanks to Tom, I felt better than ever after 3 months of physical therapy. Since then, I have gone for various other issues that Tom has helped me with. To me the goal of physical therapy is to leave better than you came in, and every time that is the case when I visit Tom. Now, there is a period of time during the visit where you are not with Tom, the main physical therapist, but the techs are trained well and did a great job helping me with my exercises. Tom makes up for the time that he is not working with me by doing a great job with the soft tissue work he does on me. All in all, I recommend Center for Athletic Performance and Physical Therapy for anyone who wants to have a first class physical therapy experience! Thank you Tom! read more

I was referred to this center for physical therapy by a foot and ankle specialist after I injured my ankle badly. Ryan was an excellent physical therapist with respect to his evaluation, treatment, program exercises and stretches. He answered all of my questions as we progressed. He and his assistants spent between 1.5 and 1.75 hours with me each day. I have been to Spooner and to a chiropractor for other things and the care here is superior. I recently hurt my other ankle, and I immediately went back and asked for Ryan. It has already healed. They also have a fantastic treadmill that lifts you up so that you learn to walk again with the full range of motion with only part of your body weight on your legs and feet. It is awesome! read more

I recently visited Center for Athletic Performance and Physical Therapy after dislocating my shoulder and tearing my labrum. I'd like to first point out I did not once work with an actual Physical Therapist. Each of the 4 visits I was placed with a different tech to walk me through shoulder exercises. Once they showed me the exercises rather than stay with me to make sure I was doing them correctly, they would walk away to help someone else. After finishing my exercise sets I would have to go find the tech to tell me what to do next, often waiting around while they helped someone else. At the end of my exercise routine rather than working with one of the physical therapists I was placed with a student every time! Again, I never once worked with an actual physical therapist. Since I was paying for physical therapy sessions, I wanted to work with an actual physical therapist which seems more than reasonable. I am not sure how they can claim to care about me or my injury if they think it is acceptable to run their office in this manner. read more

Do not go to this PT place! I was 1 1/2 weeks post-op ACL surgery on my knee and they nearly tore my ACL graft. They were way too aggressive with me and forced my knee into flexion and I screamed in so much pain that I saw stars and could not catch my breath. Tom, the owner, after he saw what happened, tried to act like it was OK. Although his face said otherwise, he knew the therapist had really messed up. He said, just "ice it a lot at home". My knee swelled up like a watermelon and my orthopedic surgeon was livid. In addition, the place is dirty, they are not meticulous about cleaning the tables and equipment between clients. The therapists don't wash their hands often. The therapists are overworked with too many clients. Tom is on his cell phone all the time, not the least bit interested in the clients or actually supervising anything. Needless to say, after being traumatized by this place, I went to another PT place that was excellent, caring, thoughtful and clean. Don't go here, especially if you are post-surgery. read more
