Just before my PRP procedure, I tried to update Dr. Money on what my orthopedic doctor had told me regarding my MRI results -- specifically, which areas he believed would benefit most from the injections. Dr. Money's response was, "I don't give a **** what he has to say." I was honestly shocked by the unprofessionalism of that comment. In addition, Dr. Money missed my two-month follow-up call, which had to be rescheduled for the following day. He then failed to call me on that day as well. I was recently seen for a PICL (PERCUTANEOUS IMPLANTATION OF THE CCJ LIGAMENTS). Extremely disappointed in the services I received from the Centeno-Schultz Clinic. Dr. Markle looked me in my eyes and said PRP would heal my herniated disc in my spine. After the procedure, I felt completely "undersold" on the risks of this procedure which left me not able to walk for close to 4 weeks and out of work for close to 2 weeks. After leaving multiple voicemails and unanswered emails, I sought 2 other medical opinions - both doctors said I was NOT a good candidate for PRP and the doctor had no right telling me that. I feel silly for wasting such a ridiculous amount of money on a procedure that I was never even a good candidate for. I shared this feedback with the front office and was told they don't do refunds and they are "sorry". Communication with staff is very difficult over the phone. Most often you get a recording. This has been my experience for many years (since 2020). I called on behalf of a friend and because I did not hear back from Dr. Schultz' scheduler, so I connected to Dr. Centeno's scheduler to get a real person on the phone. Our phone connection was not good and she said I was rude because she perceived I was cutting her off (I wasn't). She ended up transferring me, but it felt like she actually hung up on me. this review is strictly on their customer service. Based on recent reviews, i see i am not off with their customer services. i have not been treated at the clinic. I made my appointment, they collected my deposit right away. I spoke with my orthopedic doctor in NYC, and advised me against the procedure. Her thoughts were that i did not have to fly to Colorado and pay over $6000, no insurance accepted, if done in NYC insurance would pay for half and the the PRP would be a fraction of what they were charging. At the time of my scheduling i was charged $600 as a deposit. I called six weeks before my appointment to cancel, and get reimbursed. At that point the runaround started. I called around six times spoke with Jennifer Gaudin, Sarah Duncan and the women in charge of the accounting department. When i spoke with her, she was out and would call me as soon as she got back to her office. I never heard from her or anyone else from the clinic. Why would they not refund me with a six week notice, when their waiting list goes into months. Red flags abound. Honestly, after reading these reviews I feel like I dodged a $10,000 bullet. I was referred to Centeno-Schultz for treatment of cranio-cervical instability related to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and was told (by my referring provider as well as Centeno-Schultz's "Patient Advocate") that they accept insurance for office visits but not procedures. They wouldn't tell me how much treatment cost or what it involved, but fair enough, I wanted to learn more. The intake process was time-consuming, confusing, and pushy. None of my questions were answered by the "Patient Advocate" or "Education Center, Patient Liaison." Instead, once I divulged my imaging and a great deal of personal and medical information, they gave me a take-it-or-leave it telehealth appointment for which advance payment of $275 would be required. Two things: (1) I live 4 miles away and was refused the option of being seen in person. (2) I work in a client-service profession, and have never seen a legitimate service provider charge for a consultation (after telling the patient it would be covered by insurance, and without answering any patient questions about treatment, payment, etc.) I fully understand using patient screeners to protect the physicians' time, but why not hire people with passing communication skills and the ability to answer patient questions? Why the shadowy secrecy? Why the bait-and-switch regarding insurance, and the outright refusal to tell me anything about the cost of the actual treatment? They wouldn't even speak with my on the phone; everything was done by email. Subsequently, the overwhelming majority of reviews I've seen for Centeno-Schultz and their Regenexx product have been scathing. The only positive reviews seem to be on their own website, or sound like they've been written by Centeno-Schultz. It seems like every rare disease is now swarming with "experts" whose cash-only practices prey on a vulnerable and desperate population. These people should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Come here for PT and Mark is awesome! He's the kind of PT that likes to explain the holistic approach and WHY and where your injury stems from. Came here because I had a sprained ankle. Overall the care is very fair. While I'm not fully healed he explained to why this is going to take me putting in the work forever. Just really appreciated the transparency and condor the clinic and mark have. They have their own billing dept in case you have questions. Mark particularly took extra care due to my mistrust of insurance. The clinic is a bit anal on the arrival time and not being late although the doctors are typically late. Dr. Pitts is beyond rude. Using the word "butt" also made me uncomfortable as a female, and I didn't anticipate getting into underwear and a bra to discuss my foot pain. He was completely insensitive, not at all careful to let me have my legs closed and left me lying on the bed instead of telling me to sit up or helping me up. When I started to ask questions about his $6000 procedure he'd interrupt each question "that's irrelvant" "do you have any more questions?" each question he'd shut me down "I am telling you!" was so hostile that I had to BEG him to please spell out the words of his diagnosis and recommendations before he left, "you can just call it PRP" and repeatedly told me to "just read the books"-THREE FAT PAPERBACK BOOKS, the equivalent of calling and someone telling you to use the website, except I am paying $250 for this "consult." JOKE! Pitts better watch he doesn't lose his license, I can report this all to the board and will be telling the front desk when I ask for a new doctor and a re-do. I have sought out treatment several times at this clinic to include nerve blocks, PRP, and stem cell injections. I was also part of a study. While none of the treatments did much for me at all, the reason for the poor review is the nightmare with billing. I have never run into more issues with billing insurance than I have with this office. I have just received bills for 3 years ago. I spoke to my insurance company and they said it could not be processed due to missing information that had been requested several times from their clinic. I've been back and forth with insurance and the office staff. I am in healthcare and, not only was I spoken to like I was an idiot, but the tone was very condescending. This happened with two different insurances too... claims being processed years later and they blame insurances slow processing. Uh, no. Something is wrong on your end. That's absolutely not normal to have claims take that long. The office claimed that the insurance said they were back logged. Insurance said the office was unresponsive to information requests. He found out what the situation was and took care of it and now I am pain-free. Great bedside manner. He looked it all other options before doing any type of surgery. My experience here was mixed. I had a stem cell/PRP injection in a knee that had a lot of damage causing me chronic pain. Now three months out, it appears to have significantly lessened my pain. This is huge! The care I received from Dr. Markle was definitely top notch. The deduction of stars comes from my dealings with the office. I wasn't given clear instruction on how to prepare for my procedure. Then I had appointment times changed with no notice at all. When I pointed this out there was no explanation or responsibility taken. These issues were relatively minor but frustrating and inconvenient. Then I received a bill for a brace that I had been told in no uncertain terms was covered by my insurance. The bill was $1400 for a brace that costs about $200. I called the billing department and received an apology and the promise of a follow up call. No call ever came. When I called again I was told that the bill stood and that I would need to speak with the office manager about it. I spoke to the manager, explaining that when the brace was given to me I was told that the office had checked with my insurance and that that brace was covered. This information was volunteered to me. I hadn't asked. I had no reason to think they were wrong. Had the brace not been covered I never would have accepted it. The markup on these things is absurd. The office manager was completely uninterested in the circumstances or the misinformation given to me by the staff in her office. She was rude and dismissive. She never took any responsibility and wouldn't acknowledge that it was her staff that caused the problem in the first place. She actually raised her voice at me. I was really put off by her lack of empathy or professionalism. I eventually was able to get the charge dropped but only after having to argue my point forcefully. It's really too bad. Recently I underwent the Plasma procedure in my left knee.While Dr. Hyzy would only promise results to last somewhere between 2 months and 2 years,mine did not even give me a day's worth of relieve. The procedure itself was BRUTAL without any sedation what so ever.Ohh,I forgot,he did give me some numbing shot-totally ineffective- did not numb anything! I flew to Colorado from California to receive support for serious craniocervical instability that has made me disabled, reliant on chiropractors, stuck living with family, and unable to function since 2014. Firstly I was told my insurance would cover this first appointment completely (which I jumped through hoops with my insurance company to make sure it would happen), which I went over a couple times with the woman I consulted with. But when I arrived home I received a $300 bill in the mail. Second, I was treated very unkindly. The doctor walked in the room stressed, unfriendly, lack of warmth. He touched my neck and asked if it hurt. I explained that it takes a lot for it to hurt because I receive deep bodywork and he would need to push harder for me to feel pain. And the issue is hypermobility, instability, dizziness , vertigo and vagus nerve compression when it moves out of place. He raised his voice and got irritated as he was touching my neck, demanded that I follow his instructions and give him an answer when he asks a question. He also didn't seem to believe me and said he can't help me at all until I get a particular $700 X-Ray which I can't afford right now because all my money goes to chiropractors so I can function. There was no validation, true listening, support, or understanding I felt from this doctor and office. I left feeling hopeless and alone. read more

One year ago I sustained a back injury from snowboarding. I sprained my SI joint. The injury was caused by a "scorpion" type of injury: a forward fall with my legs falling up and almost over my head. I was having a lot of lower back pain. On November 2018, Dr. Markle did PRP injections on my bilateral L4-5, bilateral S1 and ligaments. I felt an instant relief a day after the procedure and have been pain free since. I must admit I was a little skeptical at first but I am now completely 100% pain free. About a year ago, Dr. Markle also treated me with PRP on my elbow. I did 2 rounds of that to help with the "tennis" elbow. I have not felt any pain or discomfort since. I highly recommend Dr. Markle. He was gentle and very understanding that I was super scared of the needle and used the smallest needle to help with comfort. I had a very unprofessional disappointing experience with Dr. Centeno. I went to the clinic because I was diagnosed with a torn labrum and had a recommendation of labral reconstruction. I also have significant neck issues I was hoping to keep from progressing and hopefully address some pain. My first visit was disappointing in that I was told to be prepared for ultrasound examination on the areas of concern but that did not happen at all. I had a quick visit with Dr. Centeno and his assistant, Karla. When I left, I was told they would send me a recommendation for treatment. A few days later I obtained the recommendations and after a number of emails had to call just to get some explanation of the treatment. I decided to do the treatments which included my neck, back, shoulder and hip. I had a lot of difficulty getting any response from Karla despite having a number of questions about procedures I knew nothing about. The communication was poor at best - until payment was requested. I was given an new recommendation after an MRI was obtained and I agreed to have it added to the treatment. I arranged to take 2 days off work, get transportation to and from Broomfield and had the treatment. I saw Dr. Centeno for a second after the procedure but not before or at any other time. Afterwards, I could tell my hip had not been treated. I received emails from Karla informing me all went well and all areas had been treated. When I pointed out that my hip was not done - she emailed (never ever called me despite my request to talk personally) that it was her mistake and could I come back the following week. "My apologies" is all I got. I had to take another 2 days off of work and went back the following week. Neither Karla nor Dr. Centeno even bothered to come talk to me before or after the second procedure. They did not care at all that I had to go through the entire process AGAIN and all the personal expense I had to endure to make it happen. I honestly have no idea if he even knows he treated me 2 weeks in a row. He has still never communicated with me. I have never had such poor customer service or less care from a doctor (or any professional really) especially since this is an out of pocket business. I am sure Dr. Centeno is brilliant but he has zero patient care or concern. His assistant is equally incapable of communicating and impersonal. I received my medical records after the fact and see that they did not even note my torn labrum as a concern when I went in for my evaluation. That was THE reason I went to the clinic. The whole experience was disappointing, demeaning, careless and entirely unprofessional. THANKFULLY, the other people at the clinic were incredibly helpful and gracious and kind of appalled that I was back one week later. The staff helped me find who to complain to and how to proceed. I spoke with the wonderful Office manger, Vanessa, who scheduled me with Dr. Schultz because i was not going back to Dr. Centeno. I actually was not going to go back ever. Dr. Schultz has taken over my care and spoke to me at length on a SUNDAY to try to help me and try to make things right. I watched him come and go at my different visits to the clinic and he clearly cares for his patients. I would NOT recommend Dr. Centeno (or his assistant Karla) if you want any measure of kindness, caring for your well being or confidence in your procedures. read more

Overall, I have had good results from PRP injections in hip, lower back and shoulder. The only issue I had was a lack of communication during my latest round of injections. They ran out of a specific type of processed platelets and were not able to inject an area where I have a bulge in the disk. I had traveled from Seattle for the injections and only found out what happened two days after I returned to Seattle and only then because I asked why they credited back part of the fee. I told the staff I wanted to talk to Dr. Centeno about the situation but have not heard from him. I was very disappointed since the staff and doctors have always been very professional and helpful. I am a competitive, nationally ranked water skier and a retired semi pro snow ski bum, having competed on the Freesking World Tour and masters FIS race circuits. Without Regenexx I would not be on the snow or the water today. So far this year I've spent 80+ days on the snow skis. 8 years ago I destroyed my right knee in a back country accident. My award winning orthopedic surgeon performed the standard arthroscopic surgery which did more harm than good. His answer was to recommend bilateral knee replacements. PASS. I'm SO Happy with this State of the Art Treatment! I was in a car accident 5 years ago (not my fault). I had some pain in my arm, neck, and back at the time, but saw a DO and a Physical Therapist. With a few months of PT, it improved a bit, and I discontinued treatment at the advice of my PT. Five years later, I was still in pain. After trying EVERYTHING else, I decided to go see Dr. Fausel at the Centeno-Schultz clinic at the recommendation of a friend who had GREAT results. Come to find out, I had 2 torn discs!!! I was frustrated no other doctor even sent me to get an MRI to see if there were disc issues... But moreso, I was ELATED that this clinic finally figured out the problem AND knew how to fix it! Dr. Fausel treated me with platelet rich plasma (PRP). I'm a very holistic person, so I *loved* that they used MY own blood to treat my body! It doesn't get more holistic than that! I was not able to choose who I would consult with by phone. Dr. Hyzy determined that I was not a candidate for their office's stem cell treatment. While no one likes to hear disappointing news (time for a hip replacement) - and I have received and delivered plenty in my professional life - patients seeking treatment deserve to be treated with some degree of kindness when that news it is given. Dr. Hyzy was rude and condescending. He interrupted me several times when I was responding to his questions although it was clear he was misunderstanding me, purportedly because he had to direct the phone call. ln his words "we have a lot of ground to cover in 20 minutes". My $200 phone call actually lasted less than 10 minutes. Since Dr. Hyzy had already concluded that I was not going to become a stem cell patient before we even spoke, his professional manner is inexcusable. There are just so many obvious ways to handle calls like this with a bit of tact. For example, a simple "I am sorry but we have concluded you are not a good candidate for our stem cell practice; now we have 20 minutes to answer questions and talk about why" would have sufficed. I had a procedure done on some nagging thumb arthritis. This was my second procedure at Centenno Shultz, previously had lower back PRP injections that worked wonderfully! The PRP treatment at Centeno-Schultz basically ruined my life. I regret everything about it. I spent thousands of dollars to get my lower back done because of disc degeneration. While I was at it, Dr. Markle convinced me to have my wrists and knees done as well (it can't hurt, right?) despite the ultrasound only showing some stretching of the ligaments there due to aging (I'm 40). Dr. Markle said I would be back to work (massaging) in two weeks. It's been 7 months and I still cannot massage. It took me two months to be able to get back on my feet and walk again. I had extreme pain in my left wrist and left knee. Four months after the procedure, I realized I had lost all movement in my wrist joint. I went back to the clinic and Dr. Markle did an x-ray but couldn't see anything amiss. He referred me to a physical therapist and an MRI, both of which I had to pay for myself. I received no apology or any accountability for this happening to me. The MRI didn't show anything either, but with three months of PT I have gained 50% of the movement back. I'm working on getting a second round of PT approved by my insurance. Surgery will be the only option if I don't gain all my movement back. Though Dr. Markle offered to do more procedures on my wrist, I don't trust him one bit at this point. Nearly everything he has told me has been a lie or a stretching of the truth. My lower back doesn't feel any better, my knees hurt more now that when I went in for the procedure, and my wrist is screwed. Steer clear of this place. read more
