I saw Dr. Beckman and his assistant Nick Boyce, PA for the first time after seeing numerous other…read moredoctors and medical professionals for an ongoing problem. It was my my first visit with Neurosurgery One today, after having 3 doctors recommend the doctors there - either office. The front desk staff was welcoming, and it was so nice to have a simple questionnaire instead of spending time giving all my information, history, medication, etc. and having the technician and PA ask me the same questions. Since the doctor, Joshua Beckman, MD, and Nick never rushed me at any time I was able to fully discuss my situation with them. I even felt comfortable asking questions that I thought might be "dumb". I feel it's always smart to listen to what is said and to check that you heard/interpreted what they said properly. It's so easy to forget what's said in an appointment without taking a few notes at times. After a few more tests, I'll be returning to discuss my options for further treatment. For those concerned about social distancing, the waiting area is fairly large and it was not difficult to find "my own breathing space", or I could have worn a mask. Restrooms were a short walk away. I'm looking forward to working with them in the future.

Dr. Aguwa is a miracle worker…read more I had a herniated disc and was not looking to have surgery but saw Dr. Aguwa for his opinion. He was honest and up front saying that due to what was seen it was most likely surgery would be needed but he didn't push it on me. He gave me time to approach the situation with physical therapy and injections. I did make some progress but not enough to live a fully functional life without limitations like before. Dr. Aguwa was right, surgery it would be. He is very personable, considerate and caring. He makes sure you fully understand what will happen and things should be after surgery so you should not have any doubts in your mind. He is a miracle worker! I got to go home the same day of surgery. The nerve pain was gone immediately and I didn't even really need any of the pain meds after a few days. *Also I don't have any strange butcher/ Frankenstein scars, which is a plus. I highly recommend Dr. Augwa for all of your spinal needs.

Dr. Jatana and his surgical team receive a five-star rating from me only because the Yelp system…read moredoes not permit a higher rating. His knowledge of the Cervical Spine is encyclopedic, his candor and honesty are beyond reproach, and for me, the outcome of a multiple, cervical disc replacement was an outstanding success. Dr. Jatana was wonderful - his team of PA's and nurse specialists - reflect his philosophy of placing the patient's welfare first. It is rare for me to be trusting of a surgeon, but Dr. Jatana is a straight shooter and he and his team were able to assuage my concerns regarding this delicate surgery. You may ask why my apprehension is beyond what anyone would normally feel facing c-spine surgery, here is why. Before retirement, my principal job was reviewing healthcare organizations for a congressional committee of the U.S. Congress. Unlike today, this position at the time was totally non-political. The scope ranged from major multiple hospitals, clinics, rehab, nursing homes, and related healthcare organizations. Admittedly, I saw the full spectrum of healthcare quality - that is why I rate Dr. Sanjay Jatana and his team of professionals so highly - they represent the best possible confluence of surgical skill and knowledge with extraordinary people skills. Even in the years since my retirement about a decade ago, I saw the full-range of quality in healthcare. At the bottom end of the spectrum are surgeons who drag gargantuan egos through the hallways and produce bad results. One north Denver based surgeon spent a total of less than three minutes total over the course of two office visits with me for a Lumbar disc replacement, instinct told me to just walk out - I knew better - I wish I had. He did not even bother to stick his face behind the pre-op curtain before surgery and did not follow-up post-surgery, left me in excruciating pain of 10/10 for an hour because the nursing staff were terrified of talking to this guy, and finally saw me some three months later, almost an afterthought. He spent more time talking about his teaching engagement in Europe than caring about his patients. This is the exact opposite of Dr. Jatana and his team's approach - thank goodness. My training and expertise tell me that you cannot go wrong with the Jatana-team. I think he is the best I have ever seen!

I do not understand the terminology so I will be brief. Doctor smith performance of my lumber surgery. Was stellar! I recommend him to anyone. I loved the fact that he was so grounding and especially sincere. In his diagnosis. It was a difficult journey because I was in a body cast for a while and then in a nursing home. And then finally home, but because of doctor Smith. I am back on this Symphony again. I'm possibly going back to the university to finish my doctoral music. And I can actually waltz. God bless you doctor smith and thank you for making me well.

I had a 3 level fusion done in 2016 by Dr Smith. After a month I was having problems still. I told…read moreSmith this, he refused a follow-up visit and his reply to me was, " If there is something wrong with your neck, doesn't have anything to with me or the work I had done". Well, I went back to my PC and she referred me to another surgeon. After this new doc had seen the x-rays he got me in for surgery right away. They said originally that this 2nd surgery, a level 5 fusion should've taken 60- 90 mins., took nearly 4 hours because the damage that occurred was more extensive than expected. 3 days after surgery, I received a call from the CDC telling me I needed to get to an emergency room that day. I had been infected with staphylococcus they had traced to the hardware Dr Smith installed. Upon arrival at the hospital, staff immediately installed a Pic line to try a catch the infection that was ravaging my body. For the next 4 weeks I had to inject antibiotics directly to my heart at the cost of $500/day! Followed by a month of oral antibiotics. It is horrific what this clown put me through as the infection caused a hardening of my heart muscle tissue, reducing it's function to 40% of normal and am now on 6 ltrs of oxygen 24/7. In addition there is irreversible damage to my spine with extensive nerve damage. My life has been shortened by 20 years and I'll have to live with this pain till I die which could be any moment due to heart failure. Gee, thanks you f***ing a**hole! You ruined what life I may have left, including what my family has to endure watching me suffer. There is nothing they can do to help me. I pray for karma.

"Woohoo. As good as it gets!" doesn't really sound very medical as a review phrase for an…read moreorthopedic surgeon, does it? I mean it's not like when you need such a person you're gonna Yelp it all up and celebrate your wonderful experience, right? However, 80% of Americans will experience back pain at some point in their life, and medical treatment for such problems is estimated to cost $25 billion annually. (Workers comp costs and time lost from work add another $25 billion.) http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/industries/health/2006-10-16-back-pain-usat_x.htm. So the bottom line is that we all should get to become experts about 1) not just how to avoid getting these kinds of problems, but 2) what to do about it when you experience them (which 4 out of 5 of us will). Having squished a disc while moving boxes a couple of weeks ago, I'm here to tell you the answer: go see Dr. Wong. His group (Denver Spine Surgeons) rocks, and has rocked the spinal micro-surgery and treatment world in the Rocky Mountain West for a long time. Of course everyone's different, and you should do your own research about who best meets your needs. But for me, I've found my treatment provider and it's DSS, without a doubt. Now go out there and be careful (unlike me), and more importantly, be smart.

I have reviewed my medical record from Dr Wong. Most disturbing it thatI his notes and…read moredocumentation were totally fabricated. He wrote he spent 55 minutes with me when he spent 5-10 minutes with me complaining about other DR's care and other patients. My recommendation is to go to another DR, record your visit or bring someone with you and review your medical record afterwards, as he will document from others notes and make things up. He has a long history of being scored 1 and most people do not review their medical records and may be unaware of his notes which may be totally inaccurate and impact your care. Please follow up with both medicare, the hospital and the medical board because he will harm people if he already has not based on his fabrications which Im sure started when he was a med student. I can not stress enough that lying on a medical reocrd is not only bad for you but a very bad practice.
