I explained that he is a perfectly healthy baby and that, before agreeing to a preventive medical intervention, I needed to understand both the expected benefits and the risks in his specific situation. I also explained that one of my concerns was that the frequency of certain potential adverse events, such as autoimmune events, was not clearly established. Rather than discussing my child's individual risk or answering my questions, I was directed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website and then expected to make a decision during that same visit without a meaningful opportunity to review the information. This was not the first time I attempted to have this discussion. At my child's two-week visit, I raised my concerns and was told there was not enough time to discuss them. I was given CDC handouts that did not address the specific questions I was asking or provide the underlying data I was seeking. When I explained that I needed more time to make an informed decision, I was told this is a 100% vaccination practice and that if I did not consent, I would need to find another pediatrician. There was no indication that Dr. Tenby values individualized informed consent, shared decision-making, or parental preferences when they differ from his recommendations. I sought a physician willing to discuss my child's specific circumstances before recommending a preventive medical intervention. Instead, I was referred to generalized, and outdated, educational materials and ultimately forced to choose between immediate consent and losing our pediatrician. read more

It's extremely hard to get sick appointments at this office, infact normally when I call first thing in the morning nobody even answer they just immediately put you on hold for 45 plus minutes & after all that they don't have any appointments. This has happened to me three times! However, Dr fung is amazing she listens and she cares. The nursing staff is also awesome! I only have positive experiences with Dr. Fung! Bonnie never seems to be reassuring when it comes to my son being sick. She never has answer, and once told me it was nothing which I believed & my son ended up in the hospital for two night ( I listened to my gut and knew it was nothing ) Overall this office needs to learn phone etiquette & to more patient caring and polite. read more

Our two boys have been seen by both Dr. Feng and Dr. Tenby, both amazing. Dr. Tenby seems to be one of the only doctors who does circumcisions himself. If you want a straight shooter who is still fun, kind, and caring he's your guy. He's been our boys pediatrician for the last two years and would be for many more if we weren't moving states. we chose this office in hopes of finding a Dr we could connect with - being from Hawaii, we were so sure this was it but I was really disappointed. Dr. Tenby had zero patience for my toddler (who kept grabbing at his scopes) - raised his voice at him and was visibly irritated with him for just being a curious kid. At the end of our appointment, Dr. Tenby informed me that my toddler would complain if there were anything to really be concerned about (my toddler is non verbal, but Dr Tenby must not have read his chart) - his tone and demeanor were very condescending, and our trip to see him feels like a complete waste of time, money and energy. read more

We love Centennial Peds! Dr. Fung has been my baby girl's doctor since she was born and I can't say enough great things about her and this entire practice. They are evidence-based doctors who have no problem answering any questions we have and explaining what milestones for baby to be hitting between visits. The longest we've ever waited to be taken back for an appointment was 10 mins and we never have to wait for the nurses, NP, or doc once we're in our appt. They also have a well & sick waiting area so you don't risk your non-sick baby getting sick when they're just going for a checkup. All of the staff, from the front desk, to med assistants, to nurses & docs have been courteous, sweet, and professional every single time. Even getting our vaccines was a breeze and minimally traumatizing for an infant. I HIGHLY recommend Centennial Peds & especially Dr. Fung to take care of your children. read more

BEWARE THEY LIE/ THEY ARGUE AND THE PRACTICE IS HORRENDOUS. In order to become a new patient you have to call your insurance And list them as your primary BEFORE you've even be seen for the first visit. They have two doctors and 1 NP, why would anyone ever list them as primary when 1. They've never treated your child and 2. I don't know if I want them to be his primary. It's clearly all about money to them. When I said no, the front desk said "Okay!" And hung up on me. So I called back and the front desk said "well if we aren't listed as primary we won't get paid by insurance" which is a lie because the primary he has now has never been listed as the primary on insurance so after telling the front desk and catching her in the lie she said "ITS OUR OFFICE POLICY!!" and hung up. That sounds like a really shitty office policy and I don't know why their practice is even being used if that's the case. But why lie and say you won't get paid by insurance? Oh that's right, because the more they are listed as primary the more money they make. This is how they operate and do business and I will never reccomend anyone to this practice. read more

We've been patients with Dr. Tenby since our oldest was born (Jan. 2015). We had to leave and go to two different pediatricians for a couple years due to insurance changes, but I finally got us switched back over to Centennial Peds because I really do like this office. The first time around, I remember there being a rude receptionist, but since we returned over a year ago, everyone on their staff has been great! I've never waited more than ten minutes to be called back (if even that), and once you're in the room the wait for doctor is generally pretty short. I haven't had any issues getting sick visits when needed, and they even accept our "insurance" which is a healthshare that we use since we are self-employed (we've had Liberty Healthshare and Medi-Share). We have had some issues with that, but I don't necessarily think it's the doctor's office's fault; more the struggle of having private insurance. We have three kids now, one of which is not quite 1, so we've had plenty of doctor visits in the past year, and we've had only good experiences at this office! (We have only seen NP Tafoya one time, and never seen Dr. Fung.) read more

We love this office and Dr Fung! She has been my baby's primary since the day she was born. We signed up for Dr Tenby, but Dr Fung ended up showing up to the hospital room and was so empathetic and showed she really cared about our baby, so we ended up just wanting to work with her! I guess because I did mention in my review that we'll be canceling our appointments. I was thankful for Dr. Tenby for seeing my son. We needed a new pediatrician when we moved here a couple years ago and our oldest son was about 2.5. The front office staff are professional and friendly. We've never had to wait long. We've been able to get in right away when needed. We've seen a Dr. Tenby, a ARNP and Dr. Fong. We've only seen Dr. Tenby once and I will not schedule back with him. He did not seem to have patience or good bedside manner with my son. However, I would use Dr. Fong any day! In fact, we are now using her for our new baby. Dr Fung is top notch! My daughter had been sick so I took her in and she was diagnosed with RSV. Dr Fung seemed genuinely concerned about her and listened to me and my concerns. Her professional bed side manner was very much appreciated. She gave me clear instructions on what to look out for and made me feel my daughter was her only priority at that moment. Leaving Centennial Pediatrics after 4+ years of bringing our two kids here. Doctor Tenby and Bonnie Tefoya are great, but their receptionist and billing department are horrendous. The incompetency level here is phenomenal. We were just given an invoice for a bill that is well over 90 days late. The bill is for $80, not a big deal right? Except, it's from March 3, 2017!! Its June 8, 2018 as I write this. The receptionist told me they have sent multiple letters informing us of this bill and instructions on how to take care of this overdue invoice. We never saw or received any invoices informing us of this situation, but since we did not take care of it at that time, it is now OUR FAULT and we are responsible. Ok. So you may say, "maybe they sent the notices, but you didn't get them or neglected to take care of the issue". WE HAVE BEEN TO THIS OFFICE 6 TIMES since March 3, 2017 and we are just now hearing about this overdue bill on June 8, 2018. Again, the incompetency level with their receptionist and billing department are phenomenally horrendous. Really sucks having to leave Bonnie after all this time, but it goes to show how faulty staff will cost your pediatric business, life long customers. Such a shame! read more

This is my first review and it's short because all I did was call. I am new to NV and need a pediatrician for my three girls. I just got my insurance and asked a gentleman by the name of Daniel, if they took my insurance and he rather not call to find out if they accept the "silver" PPO plan.. "it's better if you just call them and find out if we are contracted with them." - I have never been told by the Dr.'s Office to call the insurance on a PPO Plan - they should know if they accept the insurance or not.. am I wrong here? I was hesitant to call due to some of the reviews on here, but I had hope. Daniel's hesitation to help go one small extra step to assist may have just ruined it for me. read more

I love this place. My children have been going here for the past 5 years. My daughter's pediatrician, ,Tenby, has been with her ever since she was born. All of the staff members are so caring. Everyone is always loving and fun at this Pediatrics. My son is very sick, with Chrons disease. A lot of times, we need to schedule appointments that are very random. Their staff usually can get us in the same day, if not next day. The rooms are always clean and the bathroom is well kept. Parking is easy. There is a open parking lot since its in a medical office area. The pediatrics office is easy to get to. Once you go into the medical office, you take the elevator straight up to the 3rd floor and the pediatrics is right there to your right. The staff is very knowledgeable. Bonnie saved my sons life. She was able to find out and diagnoise my son with a abscess(extremely large) and sent us to the childrens ER in Summerlin. She had all of the doctors and information already setup for my son. This place cares. If you are looking for a great pediatrician, Tenby and Bonnie are amazing. read more

Dr Tenby was so rude to my child at his first appointment. Mind you my child just came home from a 67 day stay at the Nicu and had two surgeries among a lot of other things. Dr. Tenby comes in waiving my sons discharge paperwork, 14 pages long and says he does not have time for this long list of problems! He keeps saying he didn't have time. He kept typing and asking us questions about our son instead of taking the time to read the discharge notes that were right in front of him! He had a student with him and he yelled at him and handed him the paperwork and demanded him to stand there and hold the paper so he ca type a "problem list" for my son. When it came time to look at him he took 5 seconds! My son has been through a lot , we have been through a lot. He also has a G-tube and Dr Tenby should have just been a little more kind and a little bit more compassionate towards our son and us. We felt so terrible. I looked at my husband after the doctor left the room and I started to cry. I felt to disrespected and felt like he was basically kicking my son while he was down. He said he was gonna go over my sons discharge notes over lunch. Instead he just left the paperwork thrown on the desk in the exam room and went about his day hurrying out of the room like we had just waisted hours of his time. As we were checking out, I over heard him go into another exam room and say I'm sorry I'm late I just had a very complicated baby! Why is he sharing information with other people about my son?! The worst part is that I heard that and I felt terrible! I had twins and we took one of my twins here and figured when my other twin comes home from Nicu we'll stick with Dr Tenby, but I am switching, and taking my kids to someone who has a heart.. read more

This review is for dr. Tenby. I switched pediatricians and I am so mad that I did not find him sooner. His attention to detail is incredible. His office is VERY clean and organized and cutely decorated. I know a lot of reviews have mentioned the staff.... I can not say much as I just finished out first appt yesterday and in my opinion they were nice. They weren't the above and beyond talkative or anything nor did they have that "wow" factor but they were nice. Was happy with the service at first. Nurse that attended us was always great. After a few checkups it seemed like they would just do routine stuff. My baby ended up really sick and I was told it was nothing. A week later he was worse and seemed like every time I'd make an appointment it was always a week out to schedule. Went back and they told me he just had to power through his congestion. I ended up taking him to another doctor where they ran tests right away and turned out he had bronchitis. We have been with Dr. Tenby for 9+ years, and are very happy with the care and attention our three children receive. Dr. Tenby, the office staff, and nurses know our family. This is important to me as their Mom. My family has always been treated with true concern and interest. In some cases if I had questions, Dr. Tenby would use his computer to generate a complete explaination that he would print for me to take home. When the kids got ear infections, he'd let me see the infection as well and explain the causes and treatment. When I was a newer Mom I would call after hours with wacky concerns (fevers, rashes, breathing difficulity) and Bonnie or Dr. Tenby always walked us through the issue. I would then get a next day appointment with no difficulity. Office staff have always been friendly and welcoming. We have short wait time in the lobby most days. Its also nice that there are magazines and a movie playing in the lobby while you wait. The office is also clean and maintained. The kids look forward to their sticker and sucker, and Dr. Tenby is always happy to help them pick one out. read more

He is also understanding to all my "could they have..." and does a great job answering our questions and explaining what is actually going on with our kids both health wise and in development. (When one gets sick... we just wait for it and in a day or two they are both sick). I was forced to see another pediatrician. The staff there is not helpful whatsoever. My 5 year old daughter had a really bad earache and could not go to school they told me they couldn't get her in for 2 weeks. Had to take her to urgent care to get antibiotics. This has happened 2 times with my daughter being really sick and them not having an appointment for weeks.Then for my son's one year old well visit on March 28th I had to reschedule because I started a new job. They said they could not see him until July for a 3pm appointment. Their schedule is not accommodating and the front desk is very rude. Now I'm at desert valley in centennial and love it. read more

The only reason this doesn't have more stars is because of the office staff. They are always rude on the phone, they obviously don't understand how conversations work and that one-word answers come off as extremely rude. I love coming here! I just had my son 3 months ago and didn't do my research or find a pediatrician because I figured I could meet the one the hospital recommended and I was so nervous at first! But he came in and introduced himself at the hospital and was very polite and thorough and ever office visit is the same! I must admit I was pretty upset given the inconvenience of having to come all the way to the office. It's time for us to find a new pediatrician. Sad really, we have been seeing Dr Tenby for almost 7 yrs, and he's been our pediatrician for two newborn's at the hospital. I have never been particularly fond of his "bedside" manner, but my wife likes him and it's convenient to where we live, so she keeps taking our 4 kids. However, his office staff is the worst. Lately, we don't even get to see Dr Tenby, just his NP. That doesn't really bother us too much because she's nice and capable, but it would be nice to see the actual Dr sometimes. I just think he's like every other Dr nowadays, too busy. Trying to overbook appts all day to make up for the lack of income thanks to Obamacare. This is also most likely where our major issue has stemmed from. Billing. The front desk people constantly over bill us for office visits. It has happened at least three times now, and each time we explain how our insurance works and that the price of our copay/coinsurance sounds way too high for a regular office visit, they always treat my wife like she's an idiot and doesn't know what she's talking about. They're quite rude to her and so she sometimes gives in and pays way too much then I have to call and chase down a refund or speak to the office manager to get them to actually look into it, and each time we have been right. Our insurance is a 90/10 plan for primary care physician office visits (including pediatricians) and there is no deductible to be met first, we just pay a flat 10% coinsurance of whatever the cost of the office visit is. Then it's 100% covered for preventative care at the PCP. They're actually not even supposed to collect the coinsurance at the time of service as it states on our insurance card, because we have a medical reimbursement account that we use to pay for deductibles and coinsurance costs. But they always insist on collecting an "estimate" of our patient responsibility at the time of service. No problem at all. However, on a $120 office visit, they tell my wife our responsibility is $54 "according to our insurance" which they look up somehow on our insurance company's website. That's almost 50% of the cost. Is $54 gonna make me go broke, no. But I already pay plenty to have insurance and I really don't like paying more than I have to. It's the principle. But then how they treat my wife, is totally unprofessional and she has finally had enough. Sometimes she calls me while in the office and I speak to a supervisor or billing person and they even treat us like we don't know what we're talking about and they called our insurance and that is what they told them we have to pay. Which is usually they just look at a computer and then only call when we push the matter. Oh, and we've been right every single time. We then have to wait 3 months for a refund check to come in the mail. Oh, and when I mentioned that, the office manager couldn't believe that and then tried to blame that on the insurance too for taking too long to pay them to show a credit balance on one of my 4 kid's accounts. Kind of hard to keep track of, right? The funny thing is I have a copy of my insurance plan on my phone so my wife or I start quoting it to them and ask are they a specialist? If not, then it's 10% coinsurance. Then they say it's because we haven't met our deductible yet. Then we read them the part or show them the part about how no deductible is required to be met for PCP's. Then they treat us like we're dumb and just don't understand how insurance or medical billing works. So long story short, after my wife paid the $54 dollars, she called me and I spoke to the office manager. After they actually called the insurance company, it was confirmed that we were right...again, and our patient responsibility was only $10. So they issued a $44 refund to our credit card, which is good they can even do that now instead of waiting for a check in the mail. The part that really really struck a nerve with my wife is when the girl who originally over charged my wife had to issue the refund, she apologized and then tried to blame the insurance company by stating that when she "called" them, she was told by "Kevin" that we had to pay the $54. The funny thing is she was standing right in front of the girl and she never made any phone calls. She just looked at her computer. So not only are they unscrupulous with their billing practices, they are dishonest about them when they get caught. It's sad really. I bet Dr Tenby doesn't even know the extent of what his staff is doing with these billing practices. Or maybe it's just us. But this last time was the final strike. Now Dr Tenby will be losing 4 patients in one family. Maybe that doesn't matter much to them, but I hope it at least gets some responsiveness and triggers some changes because I can't imagine we're the only people that have had this happen. I believe healthcare professionals need to have much more customer service training and not be like a visit to the DMV. read more
