Stay away from this company. They will give you a very low estimate, then charge you three times more. They lost one of our boxes, they still charged us for the relevant freight fees and do not take responsibility. No refund either. Steer away from these people. read more

The estimate was acceptable, as were the prompt pickup and delivery dates, however, there was so much aggravation from so many emails, some sent automatically, but more problematic were the multiple emails regarding whether or not the large truck could turn around on our driveway, despite being advised that another full size truck was able to turn around long before we widened and extended our driveway into a circular driveway. I sent photos and screenshots from Google Earth showing how much space there was for a truck to turn, and offered a suitable place to turn across the road. Many emails followed, and I wondered if their drivers were completely incompetent. The driver arrived at my door on the specified date, within the specified time frame, but he was smoking, which I believe should never happen as the customer could have an adverse reaction to smoke, as happened to me. I pointed to his cigarette as I struggled for breath but he ignored that and kept smoking. Then he argued with me and cut me off when I tried to answer his multiple questions about where I thought he could turn his truck, and seemed to think I had lied about another delivery truck being able to turn in a smaller space years ago. When I offered to show him an alternative place to turn around, I struggled for breath as we walked, and then he again said no, this was unsuitable, but he was pointing to the end of the school bus turnaround I was showing him. The other end was where I was showing him where to turn, but he pointed there, where I was taking him, and acted as if he discovered it himself. It was a very rude and unpleasant exchange. My boxes were unloaded onto a pallet on our tractor on the road next to our driveway, but he tried to load all 25 boxes, which I asked him to stop. It needed to be done with two trips, or the boxes were stacked too high to be safely driven down the slope of our driveway. He carried them into the house and put them as I instructed. One box had an 8" gash in the side, but he made no mention of it, however, I inspected it carefully and there was no damage, but that was pure luck. Can you give less than 1 star? I regret utilizing Centennial Movers for our move from Toronto to Vancouver Island. We purposefully scheduled our belongings picked up on a certain date to allow for their "two week travel time" and then it sat in a warehouse for weeks before leaving for its final destination, leaving us high & dry without any belongings and causing additional costs to be incurred. Fine, things happen. That being said, not only were they LATE - a good portion of our boxes were caved in/damaged as well as the contents within - leaving us with even MORE money spent to replace these items. And the ones labelled fragile fared no better. I watched the movers fling the boxes in a pile upon arrival. After filing a claim & much back and forth in communication, we were informed we didn't spend the 'extra' amount for insurance and therefore we weren't covered for any compensation. After MORE communication, they gradually offered a small percentage of the actual amount in good faith as long as we didn't write any negative reviews. Sorry, nope. The world needs to know. Centennial Movers had two jobs: to get our stuff here on time and in one piece. Neither occurred. We will not be recommending them to anyone we know. read more

Toronto to Surrey move would have cost $1510 for 1 bedroom apartment, but the office manager Warren gave me $100 off and an apology for Xavier the sales rep misleading me and blaming the additional weeks of delay on me. I also received an additional $72 off for paying cash and agreeing to no receipt. When my property finally arrived after 5 weeks from date of pickup, a large mirror was broken, a box is missing, items that were sealed for security purposes had been opened and they put a desk drawer into a dresser drawer and I had to break down the desk drawer while it was stuck inside the dresser drawer to get it out.. I do not recommend Centennial unless you do not care about your belongings or the time at which they arrive. read more

Excellent value mover for customers NOT moving antiques, art, crystal, china, other fragile items. Otherwise avoid. Only the foreman had any understanding of how to handle fragile items. The "muscle men" had no training. Boxes clearly marked "ART FRAGILE" were piled atop each other on a dolly and hauled up a flight of steps - thump, thump, thump - until I intervened. A box with a label clearly reading "THIS SIDE UP" - with red arrows pointing up on all four sides - was loaded on its side. When questioned, I was told, "It fits better this way". Also, no runners were laid to protect carpeting. Elsewhere, two bagged sofas arrived at theIr destination bagless. I've yet to examine them. Plus, for all the multiple inquiries and assurances I provided that the storage facility at my destination could handle a 72' van, a smaller truck delivered my goods. Apparently, dispatch was uncertain and ordered my goods transferred to the smaller truck. In total, between Leamington and Vancouver, my belongings were loaded and unloaded six times using three vehicles. Not good. Every transfer creates an additional risk for damage. Only when my goods are moved from the Vancouver storage facility into my new home will I be able to assess possible damage. I am bracing myself for a few unwelcome surprises. If you are prepared to accept such compromises, Centennial offers pricing at 35 to 45 percent less than its better-known national competitors. everything for my move from Ottawa to Victoria. Up until then, the communication was great, everything was fine. Then they cancelled 14 hours before they were scheduled to pick me up. They claim they called but my phone showed no record of their call, and instead cancelled via email. It was 23 hours before my flight. The excuse is that someone was an idiot and drastically underestimated their belongings so the truck was overweight and they couldn't pick me up. But leaving me hanging was a lousy thing to do. They refunded me in full, with $150 extra for the inconvenience. Javier was deeply apologetic, but still, I was really burned. I had to scramble for someone else to pick me up and now I'm out an extra $1500, so, it's not optimal and the $150 did nothing to alleviate the inconvenience. read more

Very unpleasant long-distance move from Toronto to Vancouver this summer. 0 stars. Please read before choosing this company. Pick-up was smooth but delivery was a disaster! - gave little delivery notice (on a long weekend) and the alternative to charge extra for storage and redelivery fees - first delivery: 15 of 25 items missing, mover Costa did not offer any explanation and wanted me to sign the receipt - after multiple phone conversations and emails, located 14 items in their warehouse and 1 item delivered to another customer on the same date, scheduled for redelivery on a Sunday - company replied that Costa was the only staff handling jobs in Vancouver; logically, he was likely responsible for delivery errors - second delivery: unexpected knock on my door one day ahead (saturday) without confirmation by Costa again; company's response was Costa explained to Dispatch who was 'too busy' on a weekend to confirm with the customer so they came anyway - Costa did not offer any explanation or apologies for the error, dropped 15 items OUTSIDE of my home on a wet ground, refused to discuss and drove away in the middle of a conversation - Rex and Kian from customer service/claims offered blanket statement replies that it was bad luck and errors happen - even if it was 60% of items missing - used pandemic and employee stress as an excuse - no response after escalating to senior management Warren and Yurii - no compensation for errors and customer inconvenience - many boxes and items were in poor condition, a reflection of lack of care during the move - poor communication: long holds on phone that leads to full voicemails (cannot leave message), slow response to email In my opinion, centennial moving is an extremely unprofessional company that tolerates multiple employee errors and misbehaviours with no accountability. Would not recommend at all. Had a cross country move booked with Centennial for Sunday - was given 11-3 as our move time. At 2:30, no word from the company so we called. They cancelled (without calling us) because there was a marathon and some road closures. Apparently can't look up directions because the road closures were minimal. Rescheduled to Monday 2-5 so I had to book the day off work last minute. At 4:30, still no word for them so I called and they said they are not going to make it. So we've cancelled completely with this company - they don't understand time management and planning (and how to use google maps) and don't even have the decency to call and let us know that they are cancelling when I've already taken time off work. I requested compensation since I've lost a day's wages. They offered $15. read more

The Canadian Association of Movers gives a consumer alert on their website regarding moving fraud and scams (https://www.mover.net/planning-a-move/consumer-alerts). This fits my experience with Centennial moving 100%. This company is 100% not legit and they know it. The addresses listed on their website are fake. They pretend to be out of Moncton with their address and phone number. I had family go to their location to check and there is no such business at their claimed location. When you confront them about this they will tell you that they moved to Ontario but good luck getting a real address out of them. Take their quote and throw it out the window. It will double at their first chance to "weigh" you items. I weighed everything I had up front. I knew that I had approximately 800 lbs of goods. They told me that there was over 1600 lbs of my items on their truck. Long story short, I told them to return everything so I could go with a mover that has recommendations from friends and family. My down payment is lost but I am happy to have my items back as I am sure that they would have kept trying to up my fees as they moved my items across Canada. Please please please do not pay attention to the positive reviews. Almost all of them are totally fake. Read the absolute horror story reviews and consider if this is a mover you want to use. We had a bad experience with one part of our move and Centennial worked to rectify things so this review has been amended to reflect the rest of our experience with them outside of what they assure us was an anomaly in their service. We found their sales tactics at the outset were very assertive, which was off-putting and ultimately ironic considering our overall experience. Pickup was fine, they wrapped things carefully and wore masks. They were on time within the window they quoted us and were not super friendly (which we don't care about at all) but they did their jobs well and within a reasonable amount of time. Communication was a low point of the experience. We were quoted two weeks to delivery, Vancouver to Ottawa. We had to keep asking when our stuff would be delivered because they were not communicative after pickup. When we would call they would give us a delivery window, we would wait for it, hear nothing and phone toward the end and then they would tell us that we missed that one, we were in the next one. Three times this happened and three times they did not contact us to tell us that we weren't actually going to make that window. It's a pandemic, things are slow, we get it, but they never proactively told us what was going on. Some kind of automatic email communication would probably solve this problem. Our stuff was basically sitting in a storage warehouse in Toronto, four hours drive away. Finally, after 2.5 months, we got testy and were told we'd be in the next window. Lo and behold, we were. We had an issue with our delivery movers that I will not include here because Centennial has assured us it was extremely out of the ordinary and taken steps to address it that we feel were satisfactory. All of our stuff arrived in the same condition we sent it, though some of our boxes were somewhat damaged and open but nothing was missing. Although their communication was efficient & service friendly, several of our things arrived broken or damaged. . . Pick up time was changed at the last minute. Delivery, was only given 24hrs notice, otherwise I would be charged another $350 to bring my things another day, I was moving into a new condo building, 24 hrs to bk the elevator was very difficult. Broke my 55 inch, 3D, Samsung flat-screen, I can't even repair it, as the display is wrecked! They wrapped in a light blanket at pick up & said they would box it, it arrived in the same blanket? Management then told me that the movers never promised me that, I was totally shocked. . . Since their insurance only covers the weight, not the actual value, I only received $50 in compensation! read more

They took 45 days to move me from Vancouver to Montreal. They very obviously overstated the weight of my items. Basically offered an insultingly low discount of fifty dollars for my troubles, and then tried to charge an extra 150 delivery fee at the end of my ordeal. All in all? Never use them. Not one word was mentioned about Covid or drivers. It's 21 business days from the day when truck leaves the province, not your pick up day. *** NOWHERE does it state on your website or contract. You picked up my possessions on Sept 24th 10 weeks, 70 days, 43 BUSINESS days later you deliver to YOUR preferred location. We don't and can't accept any cash deposits physically, we offer two options, Credit Card and E-transfer for the deposit on our website. ***You asked for cash on demand to drivers on delivery that obviously don't even work for Centenial, and I've read other reviews that state the same thing. Your first delivery was scheduled for November 14th, but since you couldn't coordinate the time with the storage facility and your water taxi to get there, we had to reschedule the move several times because of that. *** AGAIN WRONG!! Here is just one of MANY emails trying to explain the problem "your guys" would encounter. ***You have to agree with me that it's impossible for your guys to catch that 12:25 ferry right? If they do not attempt or even if they do attempt, they will not make it. That's the bottom line as I've spoken yet again to a BC ferry rep.  So...As I said in detail this is my last hope in getting my possessions which you can't seem to deliver. This Saturday the 14th that was booked wasn't going to work out because of the late arrival and your guys not getting back home, bottom line. It wasn't because I didn't want my goods this Saturday, it all boiled down to "your guys" not getting home or able to confirm a spot that was not guaranteed in Langdale. That's it, not the key to my storage (even though they close at 5 pm) or my way of getting back to Savary as I would have bit the bullet and stayed over night to accommodate your guys. You said this was the easiest for "you" not me the customer to get to Comox so I've planned it out for you (and Comox is NOT where I wanted delivery it was Powell River). Give me enough notice (at least 2 weeks) to get organized at my end. Powell River doesn't run like the rest of the world. Not many trucks available. No 10' trucks either. I have to drive a 15' BY MYSELF and empty it BY MYSELF into storage.  As well, you've changed the delivery address from Victoria, BC to Powell River, BC already after pick up was done, and it's harder to navigate, because even though they're within the same area, they have different ferry and it's harder to get to Powell River than Victoria. ***so we the customers are not allowed to change the delivery address after giving you ONE WHOLE MONTH advance notice???? As well you had so many items that we needed 2 ferrys to deliver it, not one. ***I had so little (1,900 lbs) a tiny one bedroom) to move. As well, at the time the ferrys were booked much time in advance and till February they have only 1 ferry to go to the island and we could come back only the next day with another ferry. We couldn't leave movers and truck on the island overnight, because other customers were in there and other deliveries had to be done, and of course you wouldn't pay the compensation to those customers from your pocket, because we stayed on the island due to your delivery had to be done. *** Our staff is highly regarded for their efficient professional standards when it comes to long distance moves. We are always willing to put our successful experience to use to ensure that you will enjoy a stress free move experience. We are one of the best companies in the long distance moving industry. *** I even offered to pay for a hotel for your "guys". After that the manager offered you to rent a unit on the other island, so we can arrive there ourselves and leave them in the unit and you could come and pick it up anytime you want, since we were unable to get 2 ferrys per day to deliver all goods to the first location, since delivery time was determined by ferry, not your storage time or a water taxi for you to get from one island to the other one. *** The manager threatened me to either get a different storage unit or get to Surrey and pick up my possessions. I CAN post the threatening email from the manager, and I had to spend hundreds of dollars on top of hotels and ferries to accommodate YOU NOT ME. The delivery time frame was longer as you said was only due to no coordination of ferrys and water taxi and your initial storage location. *** More lies. We're sorry that we were late for BC province itself. *** No you're not sorry, you never were sorry. Disastrous experience with Centennial!! Myself and my fiancee moved from Vancouver BC to Montreal QC in on February 27th. We contacted Centennial Moving in January to schedule our move and agreed to have our things picked up on Monday the 26th of February.  On Friday the 23rd I received an email informing me that they were changing our pick up date to either Wednesday February 28th (which was two days after our originally agreed pick up date and clearly would not work for us), or Sunday February 25th.  I sent an email stating that Sunday the 25th would work for me, despite that being a day earlier than we had originally agreed upon.  I then received an email from Centennial stating that Sunday would not work and it would have to be Wednesday, since this was not working for us and I was clearly massively concerned at that point, I decided to call one of Centennial's employees, Warren. The only option given by Warren was to have our things picked up on Saturday at 9am to which we had to agree as we had NO other option. This call was made at approximately 2pm on Friday the 23rd, so 19 hours before the new pick time they were imposing on us.  Myself and my Fiancee both took a half day off work and went home to pack up our entire apartment. Cancelling all plans we had for that evening and packing late into the night. We weighed and marked every box and item we were shipping and we had a total of around 1300 lbs. We woke up Saturday in time to be ready for the Centennial drivers to come pick up our stuff at 9am. At 9:15, we received a voicemail saying it wasn't going to work that day due to the weather, and that our collection would be rescheduled for Monday the 26th. The original date we had agreed upon. At this point we had both taken a half day off work in order to pack and thus had missed out on a half days pay each as a result of Centennials mistake. Furthermore, as we had packed everything up on the Friday, ready to be picked up on the Saturday morning, we had no means of cooking or even eating food in our apartment so we had to eat out for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the Saturday and the Sunday. All this combined had left us with around $350 less in our pockets, as a result of Centennials mix up. Not to mention the stress and hassle we had gone through at having to pack everything up last minute. On Monday, the drivers came and took our stuff. We called Centennial and enquired about how they were planning on compensating us for their mistake. We were told the best they could offer was $50. We of course declined and informed them that they needed to come up with a better offer. We then received an email asking what we would consider "fair compensation" for their mistake. We informed them that due to us both taking a half day off work in order to pack had cost us $200 and that would be least amount they could offer. $200 barely covered the amount we had actually lost out on, so couldn't even really be considered compensation, it was more of a reimbursement. They replied and offered $100, the "best" they could do according to them. At this point we had had enough of dealing with this company so were forced to accept. Later, we had to contact them to ask for our bill (after the scaling of our stuff) so we could see the total, this should have been sent to us as soon as they had it. We received an email stating that our total weight was 1860 lbs. No bill or breakdown or official document. Just an email saying that was our weight and how much money we owed. I asked for a copy of the official weigh ticket and i received back an email attachment of a photocopy of piece of paper with a Centennial watermark. Not exactly an official weigh station ticket. They completely made up the weight and the weigh ticket is made by them stating our things had been weighed by an official operation manager of Centennial. They refused to provide a real scale station ticket. A real scam. At this point we resigned ourselves to just pay the amount Centennial said we owed despite the total weight they came up with being 500 lbs heavier than the weight we believe we had. We were done dealing with this company and absolutely drained by hassle caused by them. I cannot stress enough how bad this whole experience has been. The staff being robotic and massively unfriendly, the changing of pick up times last minute, the over charging, the unofficial documents, the TERRIBLE customer service. The whole ordeal has been a nightmare. I would never recommend Centennial to anyone and would urge people to avoid them at all costs. Their original cost estimates are lower than other companies, but they just jack up the price at the end. Hired them to move my stuff in a self-storage from Ontario to Vancouver. They took advantage of the fact that I could not remember everything I had in my self-storage (Could not be there physically due to COVID-19) and either stole or neglected to pick up my very expensive framed art and few other stuff that was worth over 2 grand. According to a worker at the self-storage, the movers were extremely unprofessional and rude, yelling at the people who worked there and when I contacted them, they couldn't be bothered to provide quality customer service. Overall, I recommend you hire another moving company.. this one operates in a fishy and unprofessional manner. read more

I have never written a review before but felt compelled to warn consumers about this company. We hired Centennial Movers to move a 2 bedroom bungalow from Toronto to Vancouver Island. We dealt with Xavier who quoted us $4900 for approx. 8000lbs with an expected delivery date around the beginning of April. On move out day, the movers were efficient but did manage to break off a large piece of stone from the front porch with their dolly and didn't bother mentioning it. I did relay what I witnessed in an email to Centennial but nothing was done to rectify it. We received a bill later that day which was significantly more than the original quote (like $3,000 more) with the final weight of 12820! I was floored. We have a 2 bedroom, 900 square foot bungalow! When I asked for the waybill documenting the weight, I got a weight typed on company letterhead...nothing official. Since net weight is such a point of contention, you would think that they would be able to provide an actual waybill. Move in day came and went. Follow-up phone calls and emails with Xavier had me trying to track down their dispatcher directly whom could not even provide a ballpark date when our things would arrive. Fortunately we had brought camping gear with us so we were not completely without. Finally, three weeks after the estimated delivery date, only HALF of our items showed up. We were made to pay the full amount or they would not unload. The movers were very nice and pointed out damage...there was a fair amount of it. The movers tracked down the other half of our items to a warehouse in Vancouver and sent us photos. I was horrified to see some of the boxes ripped and stacked in a way which completely neglected the instructions on the box. Some damage is to be expected with a long-distance move but after seeing the way in which our items were handled, I attribute a lot of the damage to a total lack of care. We received the remainder of our items a week later and fortunately despite some damage everything was accounted for. We did receive a box that did not belong to us but the movers picked up on it quickly and put it back in their truck. After inventorying the damage, I provided the necessary information to the claims department but was told the damage would essentially be the cost of the $300 deductible ( the damage was far greater). They were willing to offer me a $70 reimbursement on the condition that I "opt from pursuing further with legal complaints or claims, posting online reviews related to Centennial moving that will negatively affect the company's reputation". I thanked them for their hush money but said I would rather have the ability to post my experience online to caution others who are looking for a reputable moving company. read more

If you speak with them they will tell you 8 to 14 business days and it will take 29 business days... And get to there damaged. Our Move, overall, went pretty well...they were a little late on the Moving Day but they did show eventually. The fellas who wrapped and loaded everything seemed pretty competent...the truck they brought in was not the one that was going to go across country...which meant they were going to have transfer the goods again...not shared on the original booking. Very nice and polite guys, wrapped everything really well...however, due to their lateness, I missed my train to the airport and had to add in a very expensive cab ride into my expenses in order to get my flight home to Calgary. ON the receiving end, the same fella in charge at the pick up end was there to deliver the goods. The goods were in excellent shape but he was not able to supply me an inventory list of my goods...I have asked repeatedly from the administrators at Centennial and they assured me that I would receive...that was more than 4 months ago...I had also received a box from another fellow mover and asked them to share this info with the other people who were on the same truck as us...Amazingly! we have had no response from anyone wanting their stuff back...I can only assume that this info was probably not shared...I even sent pictures. So if you had a shipment on a truck that went from Ontario to Alberta and you were missing a box...one of the items were blue cushions to an outside patio set, etc ...we have your stuff...let Centennial know you want it back and I'd be happy to give it back to you. So, all in all, the actual move went very well...hence a good rating...but definitely lacking in follow-up. The Adm team was just too busy chasing down the next customer to ensure the work was completed to their former customer's full satisfaction.We have never received the inventory list from our shipment and have never heard back from them in regards to the extra goods we received. I felt like we were a check mark off their list and our concerns no longer applied once the goods were delivered. In this area I feel they definitely need improvement. read more

These movers cancelled on me the DAY before they were supposed to show up, even though they had confirmed they were coming just the day before. I already released my apartment and had all my stuff packed and was ready to go and they told me there was nothing they could do. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they will screw you over. They told me the reason was because they moved someone else the day before and they had more stuff then they were aware of. And instead of bumping that guy, they bumped me because he's a 'repeat customer.' Their customer service was terrible. The person who called to cancel wouldn't speak to me when I asked him questions, not one word. He was just silent on the phone, it was weird. I called back less than an hour later and spoke to the supposed manager, who refused to refund my deposit because I had temporarily booked a new date two weeks later. I ended up having to get the Better Business Bureau AND Visa involved to get my deposit back. Please DO NOT use this company. I was fooled into thinking they were good because they had great online reviews, but they must all be fake! read more
