This school is NOTHING like the other review given. That parent must have been fed the wrong…read moreinformation. To address their points individually: 1. "The teachers don't teach and cry all day long ranting and raving about their far left liberal agendas" This is simply not true. I have gone to this school since 2015, before this person wrote this review. I have NEVER heard of some "far left liberal" teacher "ranting and raving" about their beliefs. This school is for education, and that is exactly what you get when you go to this school. 2. "They shoot students down that have even a slightly differing opinion and even have the audacity to hand out questionnaires to students questioning them on their religious and political viewpoints so they can target those they don't agree with while preaching supposed 'tolerance!'" Again, this is simply not true. Our school has a large variety of students with different opinions, and teachers do not shoot people down for having different opinions. In fact, most teachers encourage students to make arguments against what they are saying because it shows that they are THINKING and ENGAGED in the lesson. We have everyone from LGBTQ+ leftists to far right Trump supporters, and everyone is encouraged and allowed to have their own opinions. 3. "Does this type of thing remind anyone of Nazi Germany (who actually KNOWS REAL HISTORY) much?" This is simply RIDICULOUS. Comparing a BVSD school to Nazi Germany? Does anyone else see how completely overdramatic and absurd this comparison is? 4. "Secondly, there is ZERO moral compass. Both sexes are allowed in the bathrooms and are often having sex in the bathrooms on the toilets loudly moaning (gross), girls walk around with a bra and underwear with no purpose, drugged and dumbed down." Again, as someone who has gone to this school for YEARS, this is simply not true. Bathrooms are separated by sex, male and female, just like any other school. Sexual contact, of course, occurs in this school every once in a while, just as it does at any other school, but that does not lower the quality of the school. Teenagers are horny and will try to have sex: that is a fact of life. The important thing is that the staff does everything in their power to stop this from occurring on school grounds AND encourages that if students decide to have sex outside of school, they do it safely and consensually. And to respond to what this person thinks girls walk around in, this is, again, completely baseless and untrue. Girls dress like every other high schooler, and our dress code prevents showing private parts, including male and female chests, and requires that undergarments are covered. I'd say that's pretty reasonable. The "drugged and dumbed down" comment is, again, incorrect. Yes, there is drug use, just like any other high school, and Monarch staff does everything in their power to prevent it from occurring and educates students about the dangers of doing such things. That is as much as you can expect them to do 5. "My child was bullied by staff and students and had to listen to negative political rants all day from more that one teacher about the president and was also humiliated and shamed for using critical thinking skills that are SUPPOSED to be used!!!" I'm sorry that that was your perception of whatever situation occurred. I'm sure that the staff here have made many mistakes, again, just like any other high school, but I HIGHLY doubt that ANY of the staff here "bullied" your child. Secondly, political conversations in social studies classes are common, whether you see them as negative or positive. Last year, these were especially prevalent because of the controversy surrounding the presidency, and I think that the teachers handled this very well. It is difficult to facilitate these sorts of difficult conversations, but it is very important. I, again, highly doubt that anyone was humiliated or shamed for their opinion. As I said before, there are a large variety of political opinions here at this school, and everyone is encouraged to express those in a respectful and civil manner. 6. "We are actively trying to move our kids to another high school! It literally makes me ill to think of them going back here!" Good. Once you go to another high school, you will regret taking Monarch for granted. We are an incredible school and your twisted negativity does not belong here. We preach acceptance, diversity, and kindness, no matter one's race, gender, sexual orientation, or political views and opinions. I respectfully disagree with your opinions and do not appreciate you trashing our school. To anyone still reading, I would highly recommend Monarch. We are, of course, flawed, just as any other school is, but we are also one of the best high schools in BVSD. Your child will get 1-on-1 help from their counselor to find the right classes for them, will be able to get help from their teachers, and most importantly, will LEARN.

The teacher for the program is amazing and does an excellent job with the performances. She encourages the students to be "family" and that is what I believe makes this an incredible program and school. Amazing how one teacher has such a positive influence on her students. I believe Monarch has many amazing teachers, a great Principal, and wonderful programs for our students. Things happen in any school nothing is perfect but I believe Monarch High School provides a positive environment and encourages students to be successful.

There is far more ethnic diversity here than in any other school in Boulder County, which, predominantly racially homogeneous. There are countless Latino, Asian, and Indian families in our community, both in the student body and faculty and all are welcomed. Yes, the application process is rigorous. Why do you think this school is ranked #1 in Colorado and in the US Top 100 schools year after year? Now the real gripe I have that has moved me from 5 to 4 stars in the last two years is the encroachment of BVSD traditional meat grinder education that is seeping into the school little by little. We chose to come here to escape the "One size fits all" and "teach to the lowest common denominator" educational platform offered by public schools. But after the founders moved on and district administrators came in they have adopted BVSD programs and the model has shifted greatly. Today it is looking more like a regular public school, even common core math was implemented as well as Michelle O's school lunch mandates. We chose P2P to get away from this and now they have moved the whole school backwards when nothing was broken and for the first time last year we did not win a John Irwin award nor did we rank in the top 100 list. Why is it that we look at a school that is operating beyond excellence and decide we need to change it? GFS, Father of two P2P students Grades 5 & 6 who have been there since Kindergarten
