We lived in Riverside for a hear and never came here before becsuse we weren't avid readers. We checked it out on a visit back and loved It! One book I found had only been out 3 weeks, so they're very up to date with new releases. Also there's a giant Agatha Christie section which is my faaaaav. They have events, staff was nice, prices are just retail, and the gift section is cute too with mugs and journals and things. Great way to support local businesses! read more

I will not come here again I walked in to relax and see if something caught my eye. I couldn't focus because people were having a political discussion at the register with the workers. It rude and not polite to speak of politics in public be more respectful to your customers. Very!! Inconsiderate for a business. My favorite bookstore! Everybody is so helpful and nice at this store. Also Linda, the owner, is an incredible asset to the Riverside community. She has book clubs all month long for people of all ages. She also offers a Teacher night to help show what new books are arriving in the area of K-12 picture books and young adult literature. We are so fortunate to have this bookshop nearby! The staff are both inviting and informed - they all seem to be avid readers themselves - and the selection is vast and varied. Occasionally I need a book not already in stock which they are more than happy to order for me. They host fun and informative events throughout the year and often involve other local businesses. There's a huge variety of book clubs that each meet up for monthly discussion - I found my niche and so has my fifth grader. We've been frequenting the shop for years and look forward to many more. So, I have to say, this is the best book store ever! I have been to the book store many times in the past couple of years. I love the atmosphere, but most of all, the recommendations that one of the staff members provides is outstanding. Since I tend to read a lot of the same author, like Lee Child or David Baldacci, I started asking and getting recommendations from Lisa. She has suggested several different authors over time and I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. It has broadened my horizons and exposed me to different styles of writing. Although I could buy books on Amazon or at my local Barnes and Noble, I enjoy coming to this store much more since they are personable and have a genuine interest in finding something enjoyable for you to read. Lisa seems to have tremendous knowledge and keeps up with the current and new releases. I definitely recommend Cellar Door Bookstore to anyone that enjoys the small store atmosphere and is willing to read different authors. I went in today with my sisters and son, and had the best experience! I love how they are handling the traffic during this pandemic. We made an appt the day before and we were told we would have to wear masks and sanitize our hands at the front. We arrived, knocked, we were greeted, and then provided with hand sanitizer. I also loved how we were the only ones in the store. They do keep their doors locked and customers have to knock before entering. On top of all the safety precautions they are taking, the owner was soooo nice and welcoming. My son was looking at the goosebumps books, so she recommended similar books. She then moved on to my sisters and talked with them and recommended books. She informed us of their book club, and was just so informative and attentive. Our cashier was also super friendly and she let my son pick out a bookmark. We loved our experience and will definitely be a long time customer, definitely supporting this independent book store! read more
