We recently held a lovely outdoor celebration of life for our daughter at El Camino Memorial Park in Sorrento Valley. Celeste was exceptional as celebrant, serving as both officiant and soloist for the event. She guided us through the planning process with compassion and took great care to understand who our daughter was through conversations with and written comments of family members. Together we chose several songs for Celeste to sing as guests arrived and others she would sing during the celebration of life. An ordained minister, she facilitated the service with thoughtful and consoling words and spiritual reflections appropriate to our situation. Our choice was to have several family members speak, with three songs interspersed through the program. Celeste eased these transitions seamlessly and her singing is simply luminous. My husband and I are grateful for the extraordinary care, sympathy, and peace that Celese provided to honor our daughter's life in such a beautiful way. read more

Every few months I go to the "Cigar Cave" in Hillcrest to enjoy a cigar before hitting a movie at the Landmark. Imagine my surprise when I went in tonight, and I see they have live music. Well, as someone that has gone to hundreds and hundreds of concerts over the years, the idea of seeing a local singer never really excites me. Yet sometimes I'm surprised. This was one of those nights. Now, to put into perspective just how surprised I was -- it's midnight. I just got home from seeing her, and I felt compelled to log on and sing her praises (no pun intended). Since the theme of this evening was "Gangsters & Molls" we were treated to a lot of the old jazz standards. I got to hear two songs from "Chicago" that were incredible. A few Etta James tunes that were as great as the original versions. She even took a few contemporary songs (Britney Spears "Toxic" and Megan Trainors "All About the Bass") and made them sound like they were right out of the roarin' 20s. As I told her after the performance, it was the only time I've heard a Guns and Roses song I liked (her version of "Sweet Child of Mine"). This is the best local singer I've seen in years. I was simply blown away. Now, after posting this, I'm going to go to her website and see where she's performing next. I'm just hoping it's not a private party, so my wife and I can get in. read more
