My amazing wedding planners (Fetelle Designs) recommended Folklore Event Rentals to me, and we worked with Folklore to coordinate an order for my wedding on 12-10-22 at The Harper in Costa Mesa, CA. My wedding was very moody and romantic, so we rented furniture items and dining chairs to match. I needed a lot of guidance selecting smaller decorative pieces (e.g., pillows) to match the sofas we rented from Folklore and the entire Folklore team made the whole process very easy for me and my husband; they coordinated everything directly with our wedding planners including the delivery and pickup. It eliminated a ton of stress and allowed my husband and I to relax, enjoy the day and be in the moment; and let me tell you, the event space looked INCREDIBLE! Folklore was very professional to work with and the day-of set up and evening pick-up was seamless. The entire Folklore team was amazing to work with; they were right on time and extremely organized. We found Folklore to be very reasonably priced and they make payment super easy too! Do not rent from Folklore!! I really should have read the reviews before I got caught up on how beautiful everything looked! Especially all the poor Covid brides that lost so much money because of Folklores strict policies. In my case I had a venue change due to the venues mis planning, I reached out to Folklore 10 months in advance asking them if I could get a refund since it was so far out with plenty of time for them to book someone on our original date. They refused! I presented multiple reasons and still a hard no! No "as a curtesy" or "because of your specific situation". They did offer to use the deposited amount as a credit (which I gave a good faith effort in trying to use for my shower. We agreed to a new contract, but they kept the full original deposited amount instead of refunding and rebilling accordingly) So realistically, I'm planning a wedding, I don't have time or energy to use that credit in the same year on another event and they should realize that. Not to mention that my deposit is over $1,600 and it's not practical for me to spend that on tables and chairs for any event other than a wedding. All in all they are keeping over $1,600, with almost a years notice of cancelling for doing absolutely nothing! Taylor's whole spiel on their site about her back story and love for furniture is bull when you treat your customers already in tough spot regarding their big day this poorly. It breaks my heart and infuriates me to know how much they stole from people due to covid issues. They made so much for doing nothing! And I'm coming from a business standpoint cause I own my own who was closed for almost a year in 2020. Folklore's customer service is despicable! You are not serving your customers, you are stealing from them! Disgusting! read more

UNBELIEVABLE. I contacted Taylor on 08/12/13 to inquire about some stuff for my upcoming baby shower. She wanted to see me in person so we could further plan and discuss what I needed, so we agreed to meet together at her warehouse a couple weeks later. Her warehouse looked beautiful. She seemed like she had lots of beautiful items to choose from so I grew really excited about planning my baby shower. When I was there, we picked out some items together along with some others that she said she was going to gather at her other warehouse in Vista and take pictures of them. Then, the next step was for her to email me back a price list of all the items along with those pictures. Since that meeting, she just fell from the face of the earth, and I haven't heard a peep back from her at all since. I have been emailing her once a week to follow up, and it has already been a month and half! I really don't know what went wrong, but she did not communicate with me on anything at all. It seemed like she has already made up her mind on not to work with me. She led me on, and she was a complete waste of my time. I would NOT trust her for your big day! read more

My experience with Taylor and Folklore Vintage has been absolutely AMAZING!! From the moment I walked into her showroom, it was love at first sight! I knew right away that I had met my perfect match for my vintage inspired wedding, especially after meeting Taylor and seeing her genuine, kind, spirit. Folklore vintage has EVERYTHING you could possibly want to rent for a wedding, shower, party etc. From chandeliers, to tableware and all things in between. The selection of items is so versatile. It was such a stress relief as a bride to have a one stop shop of the most unbelievably adorable and unique rental items. Taylor is so accommodating, she will meet with you prior to your event, deliver her items to your event, set everything up, and pick it up after the event is over. She has been a great sounding board for me, and has given excellent advice about how to keep in step with my theme, and have my wedding vision come to life. The prices are beyond fair, and I do not think you could ever find better customer service. I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon Folklore Vintage Rentals! Do NOT waste your time! Heed the advice of the other Yelp reviewers here - my fiancé and I recently went through a very similar experience dealing with Taylor at Folklore. Taylor was very responsive at first - we contacted her in regards to an inquiry for our wedding next year and soon after set up an appointment to come out to explore her warehouse up in Vista. After spending around an hour at the warehouse and chatting with Taylor, we left feeling great about the prospect of working with Folklore as our primary rental company. Pricing was competitive, and she seemed very receptive to our ideas and styles. She asked us to send over our Pinterest boards so she can put items together for a comprehensive quote that she promised within a few days. That night, my fiancé and I prepped our boards, and sent them over. A week passed with no contact. I followed up again the next week, and silence. My fiancé and I were getting the sense we were being ignored - but as a last ditch effort, I followed up a third and final time. Nothing. At that point, we made a decision to cut ties. Based on our experience and by reading the other reviews here, Taylor certainly has a very odd way of doing business. Just my advice - if you want to be selective with your clients, don't lead them on - just follow up and tell them you will be unable to work with them. We wasted three weeks waiting for a response. It comes off as very unprofessional. What is most baffling is that the appointment went great, and we were willing to drop a big chunk of change to work with her for all wedding rentals and design services. We have since moved on and found another vintage rental company that we are looking forward to working with who has been VERY receptive to us. We DO NOT recommend reaching out to Folklore. I got farm tables from Folklore for my wedding. They were the perfect size for 5 on each side without squishing people together, the perfect shade, and were very sturdy. They delivered the day before and picked up the day after. I wasn't there for delivery but my venue is hard to get to and the truck can't drive all the way up to it so they had to wheel the large tables a long way and I'm told everything went smoothly. Needed a major job for my wedding and sent out inquires to a few companies. Emailed Folklore a few times. Never heard back. Not even an acknowledgement. As a business owner myself I adhere to a strict 48 hour response time and these girls don't have so much as an auto response set up. Frankly I'm not sure they're in business anymore at all. Ended up going with Rhapsody Rentals, who have been fantastic and respond to every email within 24 hours. I'll post a full review of that company after the wedding. But definitely wouldn't rely on Folklore for any kind of important event (if you can even get ahold of them at all to begin with). read more

Folklore is always making dreams come true. I used to follow them years ago and now have had the pleasure of working with them as a wedding coordinator. I work at a venue in Liberty Station and Folkore is one of our preferred vendors. They ALWAYS deliver. Their rentals are beautiful and Taylor & her crew have an amazing eye for design. I love that after a client books you can go to their warehouse to see a complimentary mock-up of your design board. This was a huge plus for one of my clients. We were able to swap out pillows, tableware, and other small accessories in real time. On the day of events, their crew makes sure to check in with me to confirm that everything is set up properly and load out is just as easy. I rented the vintage dinner plates and colored goblets from Folklore for my wedding. I didn't have a hard time contacting them and the pick up and drop off went smoothly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the cups all had water marks on them so we had to wipe them down. read more

Our wedding was Oct of 2022, and I had really high hopes for this company. I worked with Cathy Hulshof, and for the ordering and payment she was great. Responsive, for the most part. Once payment was in full, she was very hard to reach and in the 2 days before my event there was absolutely no response. I had approximately 10 pieces rented and expedited pick up. The delivery window was 4 hours (completely normal) and was their timeframes. I chose 10-2 as my event was at 3:30. At 9:45 I called the day of event number to check in on timeframe. The truck was in Coronado and would be at my destination, Carlsbad, by 11-11:30. At 12:00 we called and were told the truck was delayed but was on the way. At 12:25 they texted us and told us more delay but the truck was on it's way. Again a text at 12:29 that they got stuck in Coronado but were on their way and would be there in 45 minutes. (1:15 pm). At 1:14 we receive a text the truck is broke down and the "situation" is getting fixed. It was apparent the truck had never been on it's way, as we were told multiple times. There was plenty of time to have gotten the items transferred to another truck and to my event on time, especially since it was in all of my paper work that my event was at 3:30 pm. Instead they had another truck "pick similar items" (NONE that I would have chosen) from the warehouse - and bring to my event. I received one piece I actually ordered and of course the expedited pick up. So basically I am left to wonder did they double book my items, as there was plenty of time and warning that the "broken down truck" was not going to get fixed AND they had a truck that was able to bring me unrented furntiure but not able to go pick up the items ordered off the "broken" truck??? Then to top it off there was no "we apologize" or even acknowledgement of the issue until I contacted them by email!! Then they offered a nominal credit - which I did not feel was sufficient, and emailed them as such, although there has never been any response from them since. Needless to say I do not recommend this company!! I resolved the issue through my credit card company. read more

Folklore designed the tabletop and lounge decor for our wedding and we couldn't have been happier! When looking around for rentals, it was hard to find a place that did both furniture and tabletop without breaking the bank. I was also overwhelmed trying to fill an empty space at our wedding venue because I don't have any design experience. After answering a few questions, the team put together a vision board for our wedding. When it wasn't quite what I was looking for, Charley went above and beyond to find the right pieces to fit my vision. She even let my mom come to their showroom and look through all their pieces and spent as much time as we needed to put together different looks right there in person. My daughter had the most beautiful beachside wedding at Sunset Cliffs this past weekend and many thanks go to Folklore Rentals. We wanted a vintage vibe to accompany our floral arrangements so we hired Folklore Rentals to provide the chairs and accessories to the beach site. Meagan was such a pleasure to work with; she provided us with photos of the chairs and rugs we chose so we knew exactly what to expect and the decor perfectly blended with our vintage theme.  I can't tell you how incredible the ceremony site looked with your furniture and my daughter's creative floral designs. The furniture arrived and was picked up on time. Thanks to Meagan, she was even able to coordinate two vintage peacock chairs as a surprise to my daughter which were delivered to the reception restaurant site which was so nice when placed at the sweetheart table. I had a really awesome experience with Taylor & the whole group. I used them for all of my rentals from tables to chairs to dishes and decorations. They delivered to a really remote area and made it all come together beautifully. I knew I wanted to work with them so I was very persistent, maybe that's why I didn't have any trouble. I also think Taylor is just the creative type so you have to trust her that she will come through and make it look beautiful with out too much coddling on the communication.
