There was once a 5-year-old little girl. She was a sweet, quirky thing, well-behaved and sensitive,…read moreactive and adventurous. She loved lizards, bugs, horses, and drawing more than anything. Her mom and dad were so excited for this little girl to start school, to see all she'd learn, and to learn all she'd become. However, the hopes and dreams these parents had for their little girl would not come to pass. After a short time in kindergarten, the little girl started getting poor conduct grades for "not paying attention. The school set up the first conference and began to tell the parents how wrong their little girl was. The girl began coming home upset, stressed out, scared to go back, and claiming that her teacher hates her. The parents tried ADHD meds for the child. In 6 months, the little girl was on 4 different medicines. Upon taking the first dose, she was listless, glassy-eyed, and had sobbing episodes. She didn't enjoy the critters and the horses and the drawing. The smiles went away. And she did no better in school. This precious little girl is Emma, and she is mine. In December 2014, we started at ABC Montessori. Their love for children, interest in fostering the individuality of the children, and in the development of the child's brain are immediately evident. The passion they have for the Montessori method is inspiring. They have restored our daughter's motivation and joy for learning. Today, our daughter seeks answers. She explores. She is respectful. And she absolutely loves her school. There, she is a helper, a friend, a great student, loved and praised by her teachers, and extremely well-behaved. She sits down to her work daily and focuses on what needs to be done. She completes book reports and science fair projects. She knows things about culture and history. She reads "chapter books" and she has straight A's!! She laughs and plays and does not want to be picked up at the end of the day. I have my little girl back!! For all of this I am thankful for the Montessori method. But even more so, I am eternally grateful for the careful, thoughtful planning, attention, and intuition of the ABC Montessori staff, and for their concern and care for the whole child. My daughter WILL be successful. In fact, she already is!

I was going to wait to write this review because my daughter still attends, but I am highly annoyed…read moreat this school. After 6 months, I am very close to removing my child! I cannot say this school is all bad, because my daughter wouldn't be here. I like her teacher Ms. Jewels and the other teachers in her class. They try to make the most out of their limited resources. I also love Ms. Jordan at the front desk. She goes out of her way daily to make my daughter feel special. From stickers to compliments, my daughter loves her! One of my first and main issues is with the head of administration. I homeschooled my child until she was almost 3. Because of that, Ms. T and I discussed my daughter staying in the two-year-old class until her 3rd birthday in October. She told me there will be room for my child in the regular 3-year-old classroom. The last time we discussed this was a month before my daughter's birthday, and once she turned 3, the classes were full. She then told me my child can go into the 3-year-old classroom that has kids who need additional assistance, because she doesn't think my daughter is ready for the regular PreK3. Because she's only over the admin, in my opinion, she's not qualified to tell me what my daughter is ready for... especially since the person over education and her current teacher said they recommend my child go to PreK3. They really allow this woman to make recommendations for children when she doesn't work directly with them. In addition, she has a terrible attitude. She will speak to you depending on her mood, and that's not the best attitude to have when working around children. I often ask myself if I am over exaggerating, but my neighbor didn't choose this Cedars because she felt the staff had an attitude problem when she called for the first time. Another major issue I had at this school was when they allowed a part-time teacher conduct an assessment on my child. The assessment was so bad that I couldn't sleep that night. They said my child doesn't know simple concepts, such as in or out, she can't draw a straight line, etc. That day, I took my child home and recorded her doing everything the assessment said she couldn't do. If anyone needed to conduct an assessment, it should've been her lead teacher. Her lead teacher was surprised by the assessment. She said she never questioned my child's ability because she knew everyone's name in the class by the 2nd week of school, recognized and spelled her name, etc. After they viewed my videos, the school's education advisor assessed my daughter. She told me I was right. My daughter can do "All the things!" These are a few examples of how they have unqualified people doing unqualified things. If my child didn't have present parents who speak up for her, they would've put a label on her and moved on to the next child. You would think people in this position know the difference between a child who actually doesn't know things and one who's still coming out of their shell because they went from one-on-one learning to 20 students and 2 teachers. Another thing I have to mention is that last week the flu was going around. I was told they were going to put up signs, but they didn't have ink. Apparently, they didn't think to email everyone. I've watched this school wait until 3pm to call parents about a sick child. At that point, everyone could make contact with the sick person. I could really continue, but I have said enough. Ultimately, the issue falls on the school's director. Everything reflects poor leadership. I have come to her numerous times, and she basically tells me what she thinks I want to hear without taking any action behind her words. I will not fault the Cedars brand because I am still open to other locations, but the McDonough location needs some changes, fast!

This school has major problems - not the least of which is the fact that it isn't accredited and…read moreyou aren't made aware of that fact when you register your child. Most of the teachers have little to no training in education. My child was one of five students in a fourth grade class with two teachers, yet there was difficulty in being able to handle that load. There were many instances of bullying - by children and by teachers - and numerous families pulled their children out of the school because the bullies were protected and the bullied was ostracized and punished. Parents were told that they couldn't communicate with one another about their children or the school. That turned into parents can't communicate with one another at all. One parent was actually barred from coming onto school property because she stood up for her bullied child and someone else's bullied child. The children were way behind when they entered into public school, and the Sharon School actually refused to transfer some records to the public schools which put the children in an awkward position having no records midway through a school year. The teachers acted like immature teenagers ganging up on the kids, and the administration chose to gang up on parents as well. Parents who had valid concerns were met with a room full of people who would convey unreasonable rules for the parents to abide by. No communication was always number one on the list. Unfortunately, the "Christian" school behaved in an unChrist-like manner, attacking the children who were bullied by suggesting that the children deserved to be bullied. I know that several families lawyers up and considered legal action. Those of us who left the school have created a support group of sorts. Our children were traumatized by some of the goings-on in the school, and we're still learning things that happened that our children were afraid to talk about while they were students at the school. I will say that this was a few years ago. The former pastor who twisted scripture to validate his pettiness has now moved to another state, and a teacher who was particularly vicious has since left the country. This "church" shouldn't be allowed to have a nursery much less teach school.

Ok cool, I call to let them know I'm running late. This is BEFORE the accident. After the accident and I knew what was going on with my husband and daughter, the other director calls and I explain the situation. I'm thinking everything is cool still. IT'S NOT!!! The owner/director has me come in today to talk to her. She proceeds to explain to me that I was charged a 1.00 a minute since I didnt pick her up. I explain the situation to her and she keeps on saying well put her in aftercare. If I had the money I would. So then she catches an attitude when I tell her that my husband and child were basically blown up and that was just a lot more emergent than coming to get my other child when she has 2 godmothers and a grandmother that I can call to get her. This director claims to be Christian but is the furthest thing from it. She really did not care my husband and 1 year old had been involved in an accident. My husband suffered 3rd degree burns and this supposed "Christian" only cares about her money. They are just as bad as Sunbrook @Luella

I was met by Assistant Director, Wanda, when I came in, and I immediately felt welcomed and at ease. She took me on a detailed tour of the entire facility. We poked our heads in all the rooms and were met by smiling, happy teachers and smiling happy kiddos. After my tour, I felt comfortable with the idea that my son would spend most of his time there. I enrolled my baby at four months. He fell in love with his teachers in the baby room, and they fell in love with him. I just can't say enough about Miss Donna, Miss Callie and Miss Jennifer. They are all the SWEETEST. My husband and I moved to Griffin, and the 25 minute commute to day care (one way) was killing our day, so we had to move our son out. I was seriously so sad to have to take him out. He would have moved into the 1 year room soon, and I loved the teacher I met in there as well. For extra warm and fuzzies, they do have cameras so you can check in on your child. When we first started, their cameras were down, so we had to kick it old school and just trust. Once the cameras were back up, I never felt like I had to check in. I knew my son was in great hands. We have had to deal with thing like hand foot and mouth twice, flu, several stomach bugs, strep and even scabies. None of these incidents where ever posted.
