Despite the previous negative reviews, my family and I had a good experience with this property management company. At our very first rental, whenever there was a problem regarding little things they were on it right away and had it fixed without any cost out of our pocket. Garbage disposal, toilet, bolt lock, etc. if I could go back in time, I would not have moved out of that house. You always think the grass is greener on the other side until you realize it's not. Now we have slumlords who rented their house to us with children knowing there's a rat infestation issue and don't seem to care about it at all. I've had two pleasant experiences with Cedar West Properties. Once back in 2016 when they assisted me in securing a rental and once just recently. I'm not sure why some of the other reviews are so bad. I have never had any issues with them. They are quick to respond to my inquires about rental properties. If applicants were denied it has nothing to do with Cedar West because the owner of the property has the final say in who they want to rent to. When it comes to the application fees, it's pretty standard that application fees are non-refundable. It did take them a week or two to get back to me after I applied, but sometimes that's just how it goes because they could have several applicants and the owners take time to review all of them. It sounds to me like some people writing reviews were just inpatient, don't understand how the rental process works, and/or upset that they didn't get chosen so they decided to try and bash them on Yelp. I'd highly recommend them. read more

Scam artists. Will take your money from you. Will tell you to apply and deny you for reasons they said wouldnt affect the owners decisions. Not equal opportunity housing, having them investigated this very moment to see who else has had a false pretence to apply here and be told their 70 dollars they took from you is non refundable. I was in small claims court this afternoon with Richard Damas and Sean Freedlander over their egregious mismanagement of our property. The whole matter over our stating of tenant boundaries to Richard then, instead of showing the property himself he sends Sean who had no idea where the boundaries lay. Hence, pissed off tenants and landlord. I have not one piece of paper from this company stating his interactions with our tenant; none of it memorialized. The judge thought him ridiculous. He did NOT earn the money we paid him. He and his company made a mess of the whole job. Richard can't even manage himself let alone a piece of property; consequently his ratings speak for themselves. If judgement goes against us we will see Richard back in court, that's a promise. That's in addition to Richard climbing into bed with our tenants and taking them to see other places to rent while under lease with us due to his misstating the perimeters of the rental in the first place. Oops, I meant he NEVER stated the perimeters, Sean did. Shame on you Richard!! read more

These guys are the worst. I would give them zero stars if that were an option. As a renter - I highly suggest you look for another property management firm - even if they are offering a home perfectly suited to your needs. They take excessive time in sending help to repair problems. Rich, the main dude rarely works past noon. We left the house we rented in better condition than when we left, spending more than $3800 of our own $$ to fix up the house. When we moved out, they sent us a check for $84 out of our $2300 security deposit based on illegal claims clearly in violation of Civil Code 1950.5. read more

Someone stole my grandfather's card information and there were two charges for this scam company. My grandparents first call to their customer service resulted in over 40 minutes on hold, when the rep picked up she said hello then hung up. When they called again and were finally able to talk to a rep she claimed they had no charges on file, was incredibly rude, and absolutely no help at all. read more

We actually had a good experience with this company as renters. We did not get the first home we put in an application for, but they did offer us the next on that came available that met our needs. It did take some time to hear about the first application, but they were waiting for the landlords to make up their minds, and had offered them multiple choices. The fact that we have dogs was an issue. Having really good credit helps a lot. Sean showed up promptly for every appointment and was very efficient and thorough. I did get call backs from the office within 24 hours after calls. Having dogs makes finding a good rental was REALLY hard, we are very happy with our outcome. Cedar West is not responsible for maintenance, we go to the landlords, so I can't address that. read more

What a disgusting company. Liars and inconsiderate sacks of human skin! Beware of them they are great initially but ultimately could care less about important things. They break the law and should really get new staff. They ruined a great thing by lying about a snobby home owner wanting to sell the home we rented then changed the lie saying the homeowner wanted to occupy our tiny home. The home owner illegally harassed us by stopping at our home both when we were there and away. We offered more to stay but were turned down go figure. The least they could have done would be just tell us we need to leave so you could re rent the home. Don't lie and then offer the home online. We were taken advantage of by the last inspection when we made the home significantly better condition then when we moved in. Literally had a crew to clean the home. They charged us for things that were not there or true. Said we would have to remove washer and dryer yet are renting the home with the ones we paid to leave there. Actually no stars after my good friend got fleeced by a renter found by an agent who refused to stand behind her after the renter moved out breaking the lease, leaving the house in a mess with loads of garbage including old tires and rims. Ruined several hundred dollars worth of tools and now somehow has gotten her phone number and begun harassing her.She can't even get her garage door opener back. This is horrible service and to do this to a recently widowed senior. Reprehensible! For some reason Mr. agent thinks that the renter should get his entire deposit back. Unreal. I've never heard of any company that won't allow applicants to drop off their application fee at the office, they prefer that you leave cash in a random dropbox on the other side of town. The staff that I dealt with (besides the assistant that answers the phone) is pompous yet unintelligible. Clearly their properties take a long time to rent out for a reason. Kiss your money goodbye and don't expect any positive results from this company. Go with A and L Property Management. read more
