I feel like he is getting great care. They also have a ton of experience with dogs who are highly dog reactive so they let us wait in the office instead of the waiting room and let us go in and out the side door. Do not take your pet here for any serious concerns! Back in August of 2023 we brought our dog in for some swelling in his face. They said it was a bad tooth that would need pulled. Little did we know this was the start of a long list of vet visits that would end with us using a different vet to find out he has cancer that Cedar Valley fully overlooked. Cedar Valley did the absolute bare minimum when it came to testing even though we were willing to pay for anything that needed done. After their biopsy I was told that the mass was non-cancerous and should go away on its own. The new vet was utterly shocked to see that they did the most simple biopsy that doesn't even test for all forms of cancer and never once did an xray. I wrongfully trusted them to do whatever was needed for my pet, and now we are past the point of surgery being an option. Had they disclosed that the biopsy they ran didn't test for all cancers I would have taken him elsewhere sooner. Don't make the same mistake I did if you care for your pets! read more

Every time I call to set an appointment they are straight forward with dates to get in (depending on procedure is about a week out). I have went to this vet for the last 3 years. I take my beagle and my two cats here. They can get me in same day if needed and the staff is super friendly. I previously went to brookside but after it was $450 for a spay and declaw of a kitten and the exam rooms were filthy I decided to try somewhere else. When I got my next kitten neutered and declawed it was only $235 so price was much better. Thea one of the vet techs has been a constant over the years and she's so sweet and kind. The vets are nice too. Dr Kenyon retired and some new gentleman bought the practice. I can never remember their names but the one I always deal with is very personable and shares his own pet experiences with me I've spent a lot of time and money there lately as my male cat has been battling chronic bladder infections. The vets have been very thorough in helping to resolve the issue. As frustrating as it is for me they have been sympathetic and diligent on trying to resolve it. I now buy his special cat food at the vet that I do think is helping. I've checked other retailers such as Percocet and petsmart and they do not carry it. To buy it on amazon and other websites I would pay more with shipping do they are the best price. I sent my parents here when they moved to cedar falls last year and they like it too. read more

Excellent in every way! My normal vet was out of the office and I had a very sick pup. They were kind enough to work me into the schedule- even though they were booked solid and I wasn't a regular client. I was nervous, as our dogs are family to us, and I didn't want to take a chance on getting subpar care with a sick one. But, I couldn't have chosen a better place. The vet here is simply outstanding - seriously. I was a vet tech when in college years ago, and have had pets my entire life. I've a lot of experience with vets- and the vet here was one of the best I've ever encountered. I know that he was very busy that day, but he took the time to examine my Golden Retriever thoroughly and to answer my questions. I quickly became very confident with his competence and knowledge. This guy is the real deal and he knows what he's doing! I was extremely impressed with him and his staff. I wish I lived closer as I would move my 3 dogs / "kids" to this practice in an instant. I am writing to let you know that I am very disappointed in the care that I have received for my cat Saki. I was just to Dr. Julie Kramer in Waterloo for a 2nd opinion on my cat. All she had to do was to open my cats mouth and immediately knew that she had 2 infected abscessed teeth that needed to be removed. She said this condition accounted for all the symptoms that my cat had, nasal congestion and eye discharge. Tremors in the head and weakness in the lower extremities. Why I am so mad is because Dr Christman never even once opened her mouth to look inside, he just assumed she has a nasal polyp and wanted me to go see a specialist in Des Moines for a test that would have cost $1000 and it would have been useless. In the meantime he has been allowing my cat to be on Clavamox for so long that she has become resistant to it. Even put her on Azithromycin. If he would have looked into her mouth back in April when we were to see him the answer was right there staring him in the face, but he did not look. I have spent a lot of money over these months on useless medications and bad vet diagnoses. Or assumed diagnoses. In the mean time my cat has suffered with head tremors , weakness in the lower extremities not being able to breathe out of one side of her nose and it's all because he never looked into her mouth. I am livid that my cat and I both have had to go through this traumatic 1/2 a year when it all could have been avoided if she had the proper examination when we were in ,in April. I was going to post this on your facebook page but out of some kind of respect I choose to just send a message. I will never return to your office again or suggest to my animal friends that they do. How could Dr Christman be so incompetent? This Dr Julie knew immediately as soon as she opened her mouth what the problem was. Because of this bad experience I have to spend hundreds of dollars to have it corrected. And to top it off when I was in for prednisone a few days back they calculated the amount I needed wrong. When I moved to Cedar Falls, I visited 3 other veterinary clinics before I found Cedar Valley Vet. I can not be more happy with the service and care that they provided for my dogs. I admit that I'm probably an over protective doggie parent, and they put up with my worries and concerns. They provided excellent exams, and gave me information that I could understand. I'm so sad that I had to leave this clinic behind when I moved. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

Good checkup and gave my dog what she needed (some heartworm prevention stuff). But then we recently boarded her for about 5 days. We gave her 2 zip lock bags worth of dry food, one can of wet food and several treats to give her while she was there. When she changes from one brand of dry food to the next she gets stomach problems so we always give her the same type of food and let the vet know to give her that type of food so she doesn't get sick and isn't in pain the whole time she's boarded. Well, we picked her up today, and she came back with both bags of the dry food full which was how we gave it to them and all the treats still there and only half of the can of wet food was gone. We aren't sure how much she was even fed there because she lost a LOT of weight, not just a couple pounds because when we dropped her off she was a little chubby because my mom spoils her and now you can start to see her ribs. She also has a horrible stomachache and keeps crying because it hurts. Going to call today and see what the hell they did to my poor dog. Will update this review after I call. Update: the vet on the phone was actually very nice and said he would talk to the owner and offered some help on how to help my dog with her stomachache. read more
