The games are really fast paced and entertaining, but we haven't yet seen a win. Tickets are relatively affordable and there's a good chance you could sit somewhere better if you sneak around lol. They get ya on the snacks though $$. Bathrooms are a little janky and you can expect a line. Standard good time sports outing for a winter evening in CR.

A Roughriders game is still one of the most fun things you can experience in Cedar Rapids (or the…read moreentire Corridor for that matter) during the winter months. If you've never seen a hockey game, or you're just looking for something different to do, I highly recommend visiting. I've always loved that CR has been home to minor league sports teams for so many years. We're lucky. Uber family-friendly atmosphere. Roughriders ticket prices have increased by several $'s since my last review in 2014, but those extra dollars are worth it. I believe there are six different ticket price points now ($13-$25), and if you're really into hockey you may even consider season tickets. Roughriders season ticket holders are a hoot...I always seem to be seated next to them. :) From what I saw, staffing has definitely decreased over the years. I didn't notice any employees except for those scanning tickets, working in the concessions stands and those manning various booths along the concourse. Back in the day (10+ years) they used to have ushers that would help you find your seats. I don't know if these ushers were volunteers from the Roughriders booster group or if they were actually paid, but it was SO nice to have them there. Within the next 5 years or so the seating in the ice area might need to be evaluated (in the very least all seats could all use a deep clean). There is very little leg room and no cup holders. I saw many patrons using the seats as steps to get from one row to the next. Yikes. Talk about wear and tear. I also agree with another Yelper's statement (see Cedar Rapids Ice Arena reviews) that if you're paying for premium seats it would be nice to see the plexiglass cleaned more regularly. Also, the men I was with stated that the men's room near sections L & N was absolutely rank. After I heard this I opted not to use the ladies room. Concessions: stick with the cheese curds. They desperately need a new soft pretzel supplier. Bar: above average selection of beer, etc. available. Expect arena prices on all food and drink. Overall, 5/5 stars. You won't have perfection across the board given how many guests go through here on a nightly basis. Expect to spend at least $50-$100 per couple (dependent upon ticket prices, drinks/food). Parking is free! Recommend.

Food: It is typical ballpark food. Overpriced and overly greased (for the most part) but I highly recommend the Philly Steak stand. Great quality and quanity of food in your sandwich and one of the better places. Atmosphere: Typical minor league ball park with a great view of the bridge and the Mississippi. Searing is plentiful and it's great for kids as they have activities for them after every inning. Lots of giveaways and very friendly staff make it a lot of fun. Price: Almost unbeatable. For a ticket, three rows behind home plate... $15!!! Maybe that's the Chicagoan in me, but those prices are a steal for some minor league baseball. If I'm back in town and the Bandits are playing, I'll definately make an effort to go a d check it out!

My negative experience started prior to even getting inside the stadium. At the ticket booth, I…read moreshowed I am a Green State member and asked for 4 tickets in total (buy 2/get 2 free). I asked for Berm seats specifically as I had previously been to a game on Wednesday July 1 earlier this month as well and purchased the same 4 set of tickets on the berm (purchasing 2 and getting 2 "free"). Except on this occasion, the gentleman at the ticket office indicated they do not honor berm seats under the "buy one get one free" system for Green State members. Nowhere is this advertised, and again, nor was this my experience within this same month. He brought his manager over who stated the same thing. I was firm in my stance, that this was not the standard nor was it my previous experience, but I was told I had to purchase seats elsewhere in the stadium, despite me attempting to share because I had three children all age 5 and under, I likely wasn't going to "sit" much at all anyway. In any case, I reluctantly purchased 4 tickets (only paying for 2 as a Green State member) and went in. Once inside, my children all wished to ride the rides. After all, this was a Wednesday and at our last game on July 1, they rode ALL rides for free (including the Ferris Wheel, Frog Hopper, train ride, and merry go round). At the July 1 game, they rode each ride numerous times (at least 5 times on all) and no staff asked questions or made us do anything to else. At this game (July 29) a female staff member (red hair, glasses, nose ring on the right side, trigus piercing right side) was extremely rude and indicated I needed tickets or a bracelet to ride the train or frog hopper. I gently tried explaining that this was not the case at my last game 4 weeks ago and that nowhere is it advertised one needed a bracelet or ticket to do so. I kindly asked if she could ask her manager to which she lied and stated he was "in a meeting". Come to find out, he wasn't, as she radioed him and he indicated my children could ride without the bracelet or a ticket. This girl exhibited unprofessionalism like I have never seen before. I worked for this team in 2015 as the Clubhouse Manager and have kept in contact with a few staff since that season. The River Bandits as a team could do a lot better without having this girl on staff. Her negative attitude and behavior was well noticed by others, not just me. I even attempted to tell the young man who was in charge of the Frog Hopper ride about my experience 4 weeks prior and he didn't seem to care if my kids rode the ride, but her stuck up attitude prevented not only my children but others from enjoying the fun at Modern Woodman Park. Dave Heller, the owner, is a former politician, so I'm sure he cares greatly about the image of his stadium and its employees. After all, he did pull political strings in 2020 to save the franchise from being eliminated from MiLB since the River Bandits were originally slated to be cut by MLB before he stepped in. All I am asking for is CONSISTENCY. My children all had the best experience at the July 1 game (minus how unbelievably hot it was). This time, I had to pay more than I should have, and my children did not have as much fun as they were expecting. The red haired girl with the nose ring and glasses exhibited an attitude I would never employ, especially at a baseball stadium that prides itself on being the "best" in minor league baseball.
