If I could award 10 stars I would! This is an absolute top notch fishing resort. Everything about…read moreit is well thought out and done exceptionally well. The accommodations are perfect for a fishing resort. They are clean, comfortable and include all the essentials you need for your stay. The grounds are also well maintained and in great shape. The staff is friendly, and efficient, willing to help with anything you need. The boats are very well maintained, clean and comfortable.. The fishing guides are all top notch! The are extremely knowledgeable , very friendly and helpful. They insure that everyone is well taken care of and happy. They try to insure that enough fish are caught so that everyone goes home with their limit. I believe the meal plan is the best way to enjoy your time. No cooking or cleaning and the meals served are terrific! Breakfast starts with a breakfast buffet that has all of the breakfast food you can want, and all very tasty. Lunch on the boat includes either a shore lunch made from the fish you just caught, or sandwiches on the boat which are fresh, generous in size and very tasty. All lunches also include some sort of home baked goody for dessert . For dinner, check out their on line menu. You can have everything for sandwiches to steaks as part of the package. I have not eaten this well in quite awhile. The restaurant staff is also very friendly, accommodating and efficient. I can't wait to return again!!!

The menu has not changed in the years I have been coming here. They have a couple vegetarian options (grilled cheese on kids menu, cheese pizza) and no vegan options. The salad bar is lackluster; my vegetarian friend took one look and said "Uh no thanks" which was my thought too when I looked at it previously. The dining room and bar areas are nice and clean, bathrooms are clean and you can see into the kitchen which also looks clean. The food is good, not amazing. The service in the bar and dining room is great and friendly. The views are great from the bar and dining room looking at the Rainy River. They have a nice patio to enjoy when the weather and bugs are cooperating.

Ballard's Resort - The fishing "limo" also known as a bombardier. Very toasty. The guides drive and give fishing instructions.

Grandview was the only resort we could find that offered the four-night reservation we needed. That, plus the accommodations, amenities, reviews, and the fact that Grandview is a local, family-owned and managed business, sealed the deal for us. Being first timers to the region, we hoped for an authentic North Woods experience. The Grandview, with its rustic, mid-20th century roots, the serenity of the lake -- especially ending each day with the call of the loons while sitting by the fire -- and the variety of outdoor activities far exceeded our expectations! Sheyna and Mark are the most friendly and welcoming hosts! They warmly greeted us, gave us the tour, and happily answered all of our questions, so that we could make the most of our stay at Grandview and Voyageurs National Park. Every time we encountered Sheyna, Mark, or their family members, Pat and Rachel, going about their business of managing the resort, we were met with smiles and good conversation, which only enhanced the quality of our experience at Grandview. We stayed in the Lakeview Cabin, which is perfect and charming in every way a cabin can be, and comfortably accommodated my husband, myself, and our teen aged son. I would be remiss if I left out the resort store, which offers a nice variety of items, and beautiful handmade gifts. We left wishing we had more time to stay and enjoy the beauty and peace of the little slice of heaven that is Grandview of Lake Kabetogama, and look forward to being "next-timers"!
