They were more than accommodating, helpful, friendly and full of knowledge about Pelican Lake and the surrounding areas. I came with my boyfriends family who have been fishing for 30+ years. These past four years I fish regularly and really like it...but now I get it-and I love it. The Lake will make you a fisherman. The sun is up at 5a and doesn't set until almost 10p on some nights. When it's too hot try out the putting (it's pretty challenging and well maintained) They have Frisbee Golf, a bike boat, canoes and some great places to sit, relax and enjoy the view and sounds of Orr, MN. I was very comfortable and felt very safe. If you need anything town is just 15 minutes away. Each cabin has a BBQ and some come with a dock (we were lucky ours had one) I wish I had more time than a week. I just went into the lodge for the first time right before we left and it was amazing. The resort consists of almost 30 cabins of various sizes, plus a large "retreat home" down the shore that we haven't seen yet. The "log" cabins range from fairly cramped and rustic to much more modern and spacious. We've rented one of the larger cabins for two older couples set back from the lake the past few years and really enjoy it. Pehrson caters to family vacations and reunions, and a lot of the patrons we met have been coming there for decades. It is truly a fine lake summer experience, located in the southwest corner of sprawling Lake Vermilion. We've taken advantage of pontoon rentals; the pickleball court; 2+ mile hiking trail; the beach and swimming area with large floats the kids love to climb all over; a small but surprisingly well-equipped fitness room with a few cardio machines plus dumbbells, Swiss balls, bands, etc.; foosball, a pool table and ping pong tables at the Main Lodge; a great lakeside seating area to view spectacular sunsets; and charcoal barbeque grills (some of which are deteriorating). Yes, it is expensive -- especially compared to what you might pay at a nice Caribbean resort -- but the pricing looks competitive against other Northern resorts.

The cabin was well stocked with all the kitchen items one could need. We ate many of those huge homemade donuts from the Cafe in Orr...excellent donuts. We played games and had campfires, ate many ice cream cones from the lodge...kids lived the green apple ones. The Lodge has pizza and other store items you might need but don't have. The swimming beach is extremely sand and nice for the kids. The playground is a fun place for the kids to gather and get their wiggles out. We have booked again for this year and can't wait to visit once again. The owners are so accommodating, especially to us greenhorns who want to bring along air conditioning. I now know it is not necessary on Pelican Lake...lol.
