What sets this apart from other resorts in the area are 2 things. 1. The family and kid oriented amenities. Paddle boats, zip line, paddle boards, bikes, water tramp, canoes, jungle gym, kayaks, bags, horse shoes.... And the list goes on. All of these are FREE to use!!! 2. The hospitality is wonderful. The campground has been in the family for several generations and they are always available to help you and lend something to you should you have left something at home.... Like we do often.... A dumpstation is on premisis. Management is friendly and the campground is fun. Cons: You will regret renting any sites from #55 - #70 because they feel like a sardine can. I camped here for two evenings back over the summertime of 2021 and really enjoyed my experience. There were so many great aspects to Arnold's. First thing...although they don't accept reservations online, I called them the day of needing a campsite and they had immediate availability. Granted, this area of International Falls, Minnesota is very remote in terms of locations for tourists to visit, but overall, Arnold's was extremely accessible for any adventurer traveling spontaneously. I just had my tent with me and could have used a simple primitive site for $20...but for $5 more I got Amp Power as well for charging my electronics. I was set up for success in my explorations around Voyageurs National Park. Arnold's is located pretty much right in town of International Falls, MN...convenient for everything a good ole small town can offer. There are fast food restaurants, supply stores, grocery stores...all the necessities that you can think of. So...having the amenities of International Falls while spending time at the Rainy Lake section of Voyageurs (only 12 miles away) as well as the Lake Kabetogama area too (only 28 miles away), it was great to stay here at Arnold's. I met the Arnold, the camp host right when I pulled into the campground, and he directed me to my site which was located in the center of the grounds surrounded by the RV sites. What was terrific about being in the middle of it all was that I got to set up my tent along fluffy grass while being situated close to the bathrooms and showers. I paid $25 per night for 2 nights. Right when I was greeted by Arnold, he gave me a quick overview and tour of the campgrounds. And that was it. I was good to go on my own. I set up my tent and plugged in my electronics with the Amp Power service (I believe I had 20 Amp). Since it was late in the afternoon on my first day...I headed off to the shower house. They have 2 showers for men, basically both very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms located inside the shower house were fine. Also good was the cell phone reception service being strong. I had no issues downloading a couple of movies to watch at night. Some other details and extras... - They have a dump station. - They sell firewood and have fire pits. - Each site had a picnic table. - Quiet hours start at 10pm. - They offer rates for weekly and monthly stays. Weekly is $150. Monthly is $550. During my time here, there actually weren't any other visitors staying next to me with tents. I was the only person using a tent. But...all the RV sites were fully occupied. Lastly, using Arnold's as my home base in exploring a majority of Voyageurs National Park was simply ideal and perfect. I'm so happy I found it on Campendium, the app on my phone. I highly recommend to visitors and tourists interested in coming to this remote area of Northern Minnesota near the border with Canada to consider staying at Arnold's Campground & RV Park.

I had a great time here. The sites were private, good views of the water, had standard amenities…read moresuch as vault toilets and drinking water, fireplace rings, grill inserts, and a large picnic table per site. I liked that the host didn't come bother us once. We stayed up till midnight or later each night listening to music by the fire, no one complained. No luck fishing birch lake but that doesn't mean they're not in there. Don't forget bug spray and tiki torches if you decide to camp here.

THIS ISN'T IT** I have worked…read morein hospitality for many years, most of the those years being a General Manager, when I tell you this is the worst place to stay I am not kidding. I've seen some pretty harsh hotels/motels/resorts and I would choose them before booking a cabin with the new owners of Trails End. My husband's family has been going to Orr for decades as they have family in the area! My inlaws traveled up there before my husband was born and continued on for the last 43 years! About 15 years ago, they made the switch to Trails End and fell in love immediately. They spent 8 days a year there every.single.year up until this year. We have never had any problems with the prior owner, our family is huge, we rent 5 of the 9 cabins for a total of 21 people. We've never had complaints from anyone staying at the resort or the prior owners, until last year. 3 months after checking out they contacted my mother in law by letter stating they were charging us for different problems in all our cabins, accused one family of stealing towels and blamed my inlaws for leaving blood from meat on the bottom of the fridge. Non of this true of course as we would never do that, we had never done it in the past why now just last year? Are the cabins clean, yes. Are the grounds nice, yes! However, the owners are scam artists trying to stay afloat in a business they have no right running. They are not trustworthy on what they say. They have booked other people in our cabins even though we have deposits. They told my sister in law a cabin was available and then when she got there and double check it suddenly wasn't available. They do not know how to a run a business. Please do not spend your money here if your looking for a nice resort then check out Myrtle Lake Resort right down the road! Those owners will treat you like family!

This is a water-based national park, so to fully experience this you need to be out on the water. I…read moretook two boat tours through the NPS, but many people fish or rent houseboats to experience the park. There are camp sites, but the vast majority are on islands which require watercraft to access. Kettle Falls Cruise - This takes you from Ash River Visitor Center to Kettle Falls and back. You can bring your own food for lunch on the boat (no eating or drinking other than water on the boat though) or order at the Visitor Center so you get a lunch box waiting for you at the Lodge. I opted to get a lunch box, which consisted of a dill pickle spear, a bag of potato chips, and a simple lunch meat sandwich. I normally don't like lunch meat sandwiches (especially since this was was reminiscent of primary school lunches), but eating at the historic lodge and the beautiful surroundings made this the best, most delicious sandwich in its class! If you have mobility issues, they have a golf cart you can ride to the hotel, otherwise it's a maybe 10 minute walk from the dock to hotel. Check out the dam and walk around, and then you're back on the boat for the cruise to the visitor center. Grand Tour Cruise - This departs from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center and does not have any stops. It's more for general enjoyment and wildlife viewing. I saw a lot of beautiful scenery, but not a lot of animals. It was still good though, as Joe, one the the NPS rangers, was absolutely hilarious! Both tours provided binoculars free to borrow for your enjoyment. Be sure to apply a lot of mosquito spray, as the mosquitos here are ferocious. Also consider some rain gear as it can get rainy.

Voyageurs is an under visited park with lots to offer. It excels at paddle packing. You must have a…read moreboat to really explore the park because no camping is available except on islands in the park's lakes. The park doesn't rent boats so plan to bring your own or rent from a local outfitter. If you do need somewhere cheap or free to sleep nearby, check the overnight parking area at Wooden Frog which also comes with water and vault toilet facilities. There are three different visitors centers each offering something different.

All but two sites are back in. The guests are friendly. There is no store on site except for clothing. Ice and firewood can be purchased. Sites are large. Bring your mosquito repellent.
