It was the WORST decision and still feel we were taken advantage of and should have known better with the fact that there was a "No Refunds" sign on the front desk! The photo below is the same for all of the greens on the course (we didn't even bother putting after the first 3 holes)! I WILL NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN! What I like are the parquet floors and the big oval chandeliers. The decorations on the tables are very nice too with big dinner plates for the guests. So I would assume it is fair- not bad but nothing spectacular as I did not remember it.I do not recall having to call a Thorny Lea staff as never had any issues. I've also attended a wedding at Thorny Lea and all I have are good things to say about the food, staff & space. The club takes care of its guests and visitors alike. If you are an outsider, however, you'll surely feel even more like one during the busy seasons when all of the members are on their game and taking over the place they likely call "home" for 5-8 months out of the year.

I went golfing here a few days ago. A ranger approached us on the 16th hole and admonished us for…read moreallegedly driving the cart in the restricted area. He spoke to my friend and I like we were 5 years old. Although we were sure we only drove the cart where it was permitted, we apologized and assured him it was unintentional. He continued to be rude and demeaning. After he rode away we backtracked to check the signage and we did NOT enter the restricted area. I was so upset and flustered we didn't finish the final few holes and left. I did tell a very kind gentleman (Dave) in the clubhouse what happened. He offered to refund my money which I declined. The way we were treated was unwarranted even if we had made a mistake, which we did not. I doubt I will be returning to this course to play again. Nor will I pay for lessons here which I had done previously. There are many other courses that have employees that treat their customers with respect. Hopefully this is just one bad apple but unfortunately one is sometimes more than enough.

I was very surprised that there was no Valet, they expect guests to walk all that way and especially women in formal gowns and heels? I deducted half a star for the parking situation. It's a beautiful location with great staff and food! Although they served crab as an app, they were not opened and they only provided folks- how are we suppose to open the crab to eat it?? Also, steak with no steak knife- even the most tender of fillets needs a steak knife! Deducted another half star for this. This is a lovely event facility, beautifully decorated and they used the space well for a good size wedding event. Just some small issues that could easily be ironed out to make this a 5 star venue!
