My daughter feeling exhilarated under the waterfall!
    Tamika H.

I'm not going to lie this hike kicked my butt. And just as strenuous as some of the difficult hikes I've done in Hawaii. But ohhh do I love a challenge. On your way back up the mountain be prepared for nature's stair master. Bring lots of water especially if you intend on going during the summer months, the humidity will be a killer! Once you get to the waterfall be ready to be memorized. This place is magically. Make sure to look up so you can admire the canyon rock formations. You'll have to climb over the large boulders and cross over the rocks on cedar creek to get to the other side where it's flat. That is if you desire to walk into the water to swim unless you don't have any personable belongings that you don't mind getting wet you could chose to swim across. Water shoes would be smart to bring too. Or you can opt to pop a squat on one of the boulders that the trail leads up to. But if you do just be wary there are tons of Daddy Longlegs "like" spiders crawling all around on the rocks. Harmless I'm sure but if you're anything like me and have a small case of arachnophobia trust me you'll want to be on the other side. Because these suckers were big! If you plan on swimming I would allow at least 3 hours total for the trail. A hour each way and a hour for swimming. Also after arriving in the parking lot at Mather Lodge it is not clear where the trail begins. Walk behind the restaurant Breezeway and you'll see where a wooden sign (does not say that it is Cedar Falls Trail but it is) is posted informing of the trail's cautions. Pick up a sturdy hiking stick and have fun!

It's pretty place to hike and look at the water fall but I won't ever stay at the hotel again because of the sand

Lots of people come here, and the main parking lot is always packed near the visitor center and restaurant. Sure there's lots of parking near the hiking trails, but up front not so much. This place reminds me of Top of the Rock in Branson. There isn't much in the way of activates here. I wish I was told more about this place. It seems Petit Jean is more centered around hiking and mountain biking. Lots of trails for both, and then a restaurant on a bluff that hikers, motorcyclists, and tourists seem to flock to. If you don't really hike, or bicycle, and don't really care about eating at a restaurant that looks over a bluff then save yourself a trip. I mean if I was an avid hiker I might really like this place, but since I'm not there's other places around just as beautiful without the drive.

I spent a few hours hiking on one of the more difficult hiking trails and it was a great experience! The trail was clean and well labeled, but the only difficult part was locating the same trail markers going down the mountain, especially since there are so many rocks and boulders throughout the entire terrain so it was very easy to miss several trail markers on the way down. I love that the state park offers a variety of trails and difficulty levels, so whether you are a beginner hiker or a more experienced hiker, you are bound to have a good time. I enjoyed the trail and the experience of doing some rock climbing, and if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come back!

Love the free AR state park "passports" you can get as well - so many high-quality details!! 2. This was a challenging but well-marked hiking path. For context, we were told there is a "hard" side or an "extra hard" side to hike LOL. We chose the "hard" side. You do need some moderate physical fitness - a good portion of the "trail" was just spray-painted yellow marks on large rocks and boulders you have to climb. But we did it all in under 2 hours? Great views from the top, and there is a wonderful playground in the middle of the parking lot too! What a unique and fun experience. Honorable mention: we saw a raccoon in a Christmas sweater.

We spent one day canoeing on the river and another day hiking to Sunrise Bluff and the old ghost town of Pinnacle Springs. The partners, John and Matt, were so friendly and able to recommend floating/excursion ideas for my day. Their shuttle service was perfect and they arrived when they said they would. The equipment was top notch and most importantly affordable. Seeing the sheer amount of white water rapids, large boulders, and deep pools filled with fish definitely are going to lure me back here. If only I had brought my fishing pole with me... The campsites were clean and dispersed which made me able to connect with the woods teeming with bird songs and wildlife. I can't wait to return to float, camp, and to catch lots of smallmouth! Thank you again for the wonderful time! You truly helped me have a legendary day!
