Everything went well when I bought the MS Surface Pro 7. Then about 6 months later the screen backlight started flickering, usually after waking up. Reboot - no better. Has 1 year warrantee. Our company have been purchasing our IT needs from CDW for years. I never had problem with them until now! I don't know if their staff was lobotomized or they just don't care because we purchased our Adobe app renewals through CDW in June. My license was set to expire at the end of August. I've been chasing down our rep for three months checking to see when I will receive my electronic renewal. He never responded. Finally I sent him a pissy email telling him to handle this now because I got an email from Adobe saying my subscription expires today. Instead of apologizing or even giving me an explanation as to why my order was never filled (they got our money), he just pawns this off to someone at Adobe. Well my license expired three days ago. For a decent shipping price you can get items relatively soon. Thier customer service is usually better than many of the office supply vendors which is why I gave them four stars. The sales manager does one thing correctly for every two wrong things. Even a simple order for a new monitor turned into a painful process when they--CDW's fault, not ours--sent an extra $700 monitor and a $400 software product by mistake and charged the company credit card, then took three weeks and--I am NOT KIDDING--12 emails, to credit back to us. An absolutely great company to work with, especially if you get assigned a rep from CDW who work tirelessly to help you with anything and everything! If I had to pick out any negative points, one may be the pricing is a tad higher than Amazon and no real discounts for shipping, but nothing to really throw a fit over. I think the positives well overweigh the negatives though. On this particular visit, I got to go on a tour of their distribution center, which was an absolute blast. Talk about efficient, they have everything down to incredible science, whether it is asset tagging, packing, loading trucks, etc. Also got to see their command center which is 24/7 support of portions of your network that are monitored and partially run by their knowledgeable team. So even with the lame Charles Barkley commercials, this company excels in many area that can assist you from a consumer and or business stand point. read more

I ordered 4 GPU's and the order was confirmed. My credit card was charged and I was given an e-mail confirmation. 24 hours later CDW sent me an e-mail stating that the credit card (which was already charged) would not be accepted and I would be required to use a bank transfer to send the money to their corporate office. Then when I called them to ask why I needed to use a bank transfer, they claimed the products I ordered weren't in stock and they would be canceling the order. 1. You charge my credit card 2. You e-mail and state you won't accept my credit card 3. You request a MONEY TRANSFER for payment 4. Then you let me know the product is not in stock and is unavailable. The entire buying experience just seemed shady and felt like a Nigerian scam. Supposedly they canceled the order 2 days ago, but the charge is STILL on my credit card. Bought a Tecra in July via a HP small business loan. Salesperson was very nice to work with but in the end, just ineffectual. As of today, October 29, no laptop. We ordered what was shown on the CDW website, but were told three months later the the part number never existed. We were given a different part number and told we'd have to pay more money. Argued and were able to keep the same lease terms, supposedly. As of today, the laptop is currently stuck in customs with this message on the FedEx track number: "Clearance instructions from the importer are required. Recommended action: Importer must provide instructions. No scheduled delivery date available at this time." Ordered a Tecra from them in the past and their laptop and service was awesome -- this 2018 experience has been a nightmare. Maybe Trump's tariffs or maybe CDW is not paying their vendors? I live in Silicon Valley. Our coal mine is technology. And the previous 3 companies I've worked for have acted as vendors for CDW. The common theme between all 3 companies? A general understanding that, when it comes to value-added resellers, CDW is consistently regarded as the lowest common denominator. Yes, they have a lot of volume. But so does McDonalds. And the quality of service you'll encounter is very much the same. With most companies, when an account manager leaves, their e-mail is routed to their previous manager, so inquiries can be addressed as they come in. Not with CDW. AM's will ditch their old job and you'll get absolutely no reply from anyone when you attempt to reach out to them. Not only that, but CDW reps change territories often. And when they do, there's a 50/50 chance that they'll direct you to their replacement when you reach out to them. Half the time, they'll just delete your e-mail and move on. CDW also employs numerous kids straight out of business school. You'll encounter a multitude of greenhorns who have never worked sales before. They are unresponsive. They have no knowledge of the products they sell (which they blamelessly shrug off, since they "sell so many different products"). And they have zero tact when it comes to hustling their vendors for more margins. [For example: I can't tell you how many times I've had a CDW guy e-mail me, claiming they can get an order in if we JUST give them 3 or 5 more points... and when I tell them that I spoke to the customer and they confirmed they've already sent the order in, a PO will land in my inbox within the hour. It's embarrassing.] I've also caught CDW guys jacking up the cost on renewal or maintenance quotes, then blame the vendor for the increase. And when the customer calls in and we confirm that the pricing didn't go up, CDW squeals that you "threw them under the bus". Also, because CDW has no product knowledge, they will schedule phone calls with customers so that the vendor can answer their questions directly. CDW makes anywhere from 20-50% of margin on these orders. If the vendor is presenting the solution to the client, building the quotes, driving the deal, AND answering questions... why exactly is CDW making margin? And why are customers paying MORE, instead of just dealing with these vendors directly? What's the advantage of CDW to begin with? If you're looking to construct an IT environment for your home or business, do yourself a favor and find a small, local reseller. Do not engage CDW, unless you're looking for a headache. I recently placed an order with this organization for a GPU, and was happy to do so as I could find no local source. The recent GPU shortage has been a bit of a nightmare, and I'm finishing a pretty nice rig which is necessary for my work. My account was quietly disabled, my order quietly canceled, and of course throughout this entire ordeal there's been no communication at all from CDW. Their support was neither helpful nor knowledgeable, and one gentleman even laughed openly while on the phone with me. I went several minutes on their chat support without a response, and the representative listed on my receipt is not actually at work. I'm not sure what the problem is, and I'm never going to find out. The utter frustration I've endured with this company is profound. Very efficient Sales & Inventory operation. I purchased a laptop with a premium Intel hard drive just over a year ago. Hard Drive crashed a week ago. CDW was not willing or able to assist me in replacing the Windows operating system or the outlook that was pre-loaded on the machine. I spoke with 3-4 persons from this large company. CDW offers a decent price and is often a great place to order from if you are a corporate client. There are additional discounts negotiated based on sales volume,etc. For retail or Joe consumer store, they fail miserably. Trying to buy a $5 cable? You will spend 1/2 hr in the store. They have an ass backwards system of processing orders and if you need to get something not on the floor, then queue up and wait for the conveyor. Also brought in a Lenovo netbook here for warranty repair. They took it in (they are Lenovo authorized repair center) and then called me a week later to tell me that they do not service netbooks, only laptops. This store can handle any sized order. I've been doing business with CDW for over 7 years and have never been disappointed. They have excellent customer service and have anything you could ever need in stock. You can as easily buy a home computer from them as you could buy everything you would need to equip a business, a university, or even a government office. They have a very good return policy and actually do their best to be sure you are satisfied. One thing I have noticed- sometimes their prices are not always the best. Sometimes you can save a few bucks at one of the "big box" stores. However, their customer service makes up for this. read more

I've ordered from this company twice now,and both time my orders arrived late. I placed an order for a server and drives, and when I checked out and selected shipping options, I selected the option that would get my order delivered the next day. It actually arrived 6 days later! When I called CDW, they treated me like it was my fault because I didn't call them to confirm when it would be delivered. I placed another order for a firewall, and selected next day shipping, which (I assume because it was later in the day) would be delivered 2 days later by noon. Well it was supposed to arrive by now, so I just called CDW to find out that 2 days later, IT HASN'T EVEN SHIPPED. The excuse I was given this time is that it's not in their control because their website is run by a third party and I should call them to get a shipping time. Really? This is 2020, people. During the video card shortage, CDW stood out as a company that had prices listed for cards, but a call for availability note. I called up a rep and went through the cards to find some that would be available the earliest. I was told there were listed in stock by their distributor and should arrive within 2 weeks. I paid with my credit card and got a invoice. They put a pending charge on my account for $3500, which was the order amount that lasted a few days. After the order became late, I contacted CDW and was told they would arrive the next day and would be shipped by the end of the week. I waited another week and sent a message to the sales rep via email. I received a response that said the order was on hold due to a price increase. I had not received any notification that there was a problem. I called CDW again, and was told that my order would now cost $5000. I told them that I would never authorize that much of an increase and asked to speak to a manger. After 3 fruitless hours on the phone, trying to get CDW to honor the original invoice, still never speaking to a manager. I found other that they didn't even have the parts yet. There excuse, "terms and conditions". I have a different term for it "bait and switch", they held up my money for a month and prevented me from pursuing other opportunities, and then expected to call me when the parts came in and tell me if I wanted them I had to pay an additional $1500. With the issue unresolved waiting for a manager to call back, I found other options through other vendors. That's when I found out that CDW put a pending charge through to my bank for a random $1108.32 . I emailed a cancellation notice to CDW and called the company about the random charge. At first they could not find it and wanted me to provide them a copy of my bank statement. I refused, but provided them all the information off the statement in reference to the charge, they told me that this was not good enough, they needed a hard copy of my business statement to look into it, They eventually found the charge, and explained that it went through when I was trying to get the order modified. The only modification I was attempting to get was to have them honor the original purchase price. They still can not explain the random amount and explained it should clear in 24-72 hrs. CDW could not provide product in a timely manner at the price originally sold, failed to communicate any problems, and tied up my funds so I could not pursue other options. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I placed an order on 8/21/15 and the webpage indicated that the item was in stock and that if I ordered within the next 7 hours, the item would ship the same day, so I proceeded to place an order. The following morning I had not received any updates to the order or tracking information so I went online to try to see if I could get an update on where my order was and it shows "Status: Not yet shipped." After jumping thru hoops and finally getting an agent on the phone today (8/25/15), he informs me that my order was cancelled internally because they could not verify my address. My apartment has been here for at least three years and everything else that ships USPS, FedEx or UPS has no problems finding me, but okay. At the very least you could reach out and contact me, but shoot that would be too much like good customer service. The guy on the phone was very indicative of their customer service. Monotoned, he kept stopping to breathe and sigh heavily like answering questions when you work the CUSTOMER SERVICE TELEPHONE LINE is a huge inconvenience that no-one told him he'd incur. The other two things that rubbed me the wrong way were (1) shipping charges are exorbitant; I ordered a privacy film for a laptop screen which can't weigh but a few ounces, yet shipping was just under $18. (2) their online order management system is a catastrophe. You'd think when you put in your order number it would be easy to see order details and/or cancel an order in my case - nope. You have to "request access to an Extranet" to do this. Ridiculous! Furthermore when you try to send an email to customer service, you're limited to 500 characters for the message. Maybe it's just me but usually when I'm contacting customer service, it's a complex issue and trying to fit it into 500 characters is only going to anger and frustrate me more. The moral of the story is to do what I normally do and order from Amazon in the future. And all these other retailers wonder why Amazon is eating their breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take a moment to see what Amazon does well (i.e. ordering system, reasonable/free shipping and excellent customer service) and maybe try to adopt some of these best practices. Terrible experience with these guys. Ordered a pocketjet printer from them with a separate cable cord that didn't even fit the printer. Came in two deliveries printer did not make it to the door and cable did. I guess FedEx lost it had to fight with staff for about a week and a half finally got them to send a second printer. To find out the cable does not even fit the printer that they sent out. Terrible communication and didn't respond to my numerous calls and emails till days later. Won't do business with them again. Paid a bundle for shipping etc. Scotty Hammond and Suzette were my points of contacts. Kept trying to sell me a second printer without even getting the first. After a lengthy discussion I asked them to ship it back and for a concession for all this hassle. They said no. Had to pay them to ship it back to me. Engineeing/technicians polite and helpful, shame their sales and customer support created such an inconvenience by providing FALSE and UNEDUCATED information.
