Damn. Didn't know about this store! I just donated 274 CDs, 97 LPs (vinal) and a reel to reel player with 7 reels to goodwill in Clinton 2 weeks ago!

I love shopping here. My father bought hundreds of jazz cds here before he passed away. Now I own them. I stopped by there in November to find some of the old rock albums I had as a kid and some old school hip hop. They have a huge collection of vinyl, the downside it looks like it's a little overwhelming for them to organize them. Next time I go I will spend more time digging. #djdannyt

In the DC area, Red Onion is still the best for collectors (the shop sells cheap records, too)…read more Within the past year, I've seen original pressings of the Stooges (Fun House, no less, which is insanely rare), Minutemen (Double Nickels on the Dime, also quite rare), David Bowie, Metallica, Swans, Bill Evans, Curtis Mayfield, The Beastie Boys, The Cure, Townes Van Zandt, Ghostface Killah, Patti Smith, New Order, Big Black, Velvet Underground, Prince, Miles Davis, Mary Lou Williams...I could go on. Sometimes, my brain feels like exploding when I'm here. The shop has strong selections across rock, jazz, soul, hip hop, punk, and country, with a smattering of weirdo avant-garde/experimental/electronic stuff to boot. To keep myself from blowing an entire paycheck on vinyl, I limit visits to Red Onion to about once a month. On one trip not too long ago, I got a beautiful, exceptionally clean original pressing of Maggot Brain for $100. If that sounds like a lot, take a look at what the record commands on Discogs or eBay. Another local record store that shall remain nameless is charging $150 for a slightly warped copy. Josh never overcharges--although he easily could because he's picky and only buys very clean wax (often VG+ and better). It's a testament to Red Onion's extremely high quality that although I live within walking distance to two very good record shops, Joint Custody and Som, I schlep out to West Hyattsville more often than I hit those stores.

Wonderful record shop in a retro building. I love the relaxed vibes in here, and the girl in the…read moreshop was very nice. Interesting selection...a bit on the higher priced side for some things, but I did find some deals. Had some cool stuff I've never seen before. Must check out this gem!

Did you say you like DONUTS with your coffee or hot tea?Well, I have just the place for you!…read more Bump is located on the Fenton Street side of the library. If you find the Fenton Street library entrance, you've found Bump. Here you will find various teas (ask to be pointed to the menu - it's not on the board), coffees, BAKED GOODIES, sandwiches, and (at least seasonally) CIDER. The baked goodies selection varies from day to day, but I've ALWAYS found DONUTS (sometimes one or two types - today there ware at least 6!! - hard to choose!). The donuts are from a local bakery called WOODMOOR and are always fresh. If you're into VINYL, there are also a few bins of new records. Note that many of the pics posted here are NOT of the current location, but of the former location on East-West Highway. Bon appétit!

The place was a bit difficult to find. So I called the phone number but it wasn't working. Finally…read moreI found it. It was in front of the Silver Spring library in a separate island on its own. It's a bit difficult to describe but if you walk on the Fenton St, you ll see little flags/banners (attached in my pictures). Follow them and go past the railing and the store is on the first floor. It's confusing because the address is 900 Wayne but it is easier to get to from Fenton. They could use a small banner on Wayne. The place itself is okay. The cronuts and bagels were fine. Nothing special. The seating inside was a bit odd. The barista area looked pretty clean though. The service was fast. There wasn't enough variety of food. If you want a quick bagel and coffee, it is okay but otherwise I would pass.
