Once we made our first deposit, Tony sent us login info for our online client data base, which we were able to make our "must play, maybe play, and absolutely do not play" playlists. I LOVED that we were able to organize the music in this way, as I was much more at ease for what the evening would look like. For the entire year of our engagement, Tony responded to all emails within an instant. For my father-daughter dance, I had arranged it with my dad that he was to choose a song, and it would be a surprise to me up until the minute it played at our reception. Tony and my dad corresponded back and forth without me knowing, and this was pulled off without any issues! The day of our reception, which was the first time I was even meeting Tony, he put me at immediate ease. He came up to my fiance and I, introduced himself, and quickly ran through how the evening would go. I was worried about the amount of talking via DJ would be taking place (I HATE going to weddings and the DJ acts more like an emcee the entire night, rather than a DJ) but Tony was PERFECT. He checked in with us throughout the night and everything went as planned. Another thing I loved about this company was the way in which songs transitioned into each other. There was not a second where one song would end and silence took place. Each song went straight into the next. Our dance floor was full ALL NIGHT LONG! We also used Extreme Sounds for our reception uplighting. I had been emailing with Tony up until days before our wedding trying to nail down the color I was going for. I sent Tony two pictures of what I was going for, he said he would make it happen, and it was the exact amber color I was envisioning!

RE: Business Owner's Reply- I do not know how you are surprised after ignoring me multiple times when I was ready to move forward with reviewing a contract. You ignored me over 2 weeks and we had a professional relationship. You also gave me 3 Wedding Venues that you said you are "preferred vendor" for, without me asking. I checked all 3 of them and you clearly lied to me. Also, Tony, you response to my review says "some of our reviews tells you that our customers were referred by their venues". This is factually incorrect of your Yelp reviews. I checked all 80 of them. None do. Another lie here.

Both Curt and Shawn are very professional and very quick to respond to any questions. When you call them, an actual person answers (it was always either Curt or Shawn when I called). I bought the 4 Star Wedding package and added an additional performance hour and a set of uplights. Their pricing on the uplights is extremely reasonable, because instead of paying for a separate lighting company and their delivery/setup charge, it was wrapped into the cost of the Stax setup, and they were already coming. Music-wise, you can fill in requests and special songs online ahead of time, and they play them. But they stay on top of current music trends, mixing up old and new songs, and switching between slow and dance stuff. With these guys in charge, there was never any need to force people out to the dance floor. Everyone had an amazing time and kept telling me the DJs were great. Also, they posted some great photos and a video montage on facebook - I wasn't expecting that. A couple important things to know - they do charge an extra fee to come into Chicago (they are in Cary after all) and if there's a hard setup location (lots of stairs, etc). And they only accept cashiers checks, certified checks, or cash for payment. Can't say enough good things about this group!

When it came time for my own wedding, I HAD to call Stax O Wax to see if they would come out here to the boondocks (Sterling...2+ hours from where they are based in Cary). Shawn answered my email almost immediately and sent me their pricelist, which shows the different packages they offer. He was very upbeat and professional the couple of times that I spoke to him, assuring me that it was no problem for them to travel for a wedding or other event. Unfortunately, their asking price was more than we had budgeted for our DJ, so I had to tell him thanks but no thanks but if money had been no object, I would have hired them in a second, including paying the extra money they needed for traveling this far - they are THAT good. Not being able to hire Stax O Wax was really the only disappointment of my wedding, I would definitely suggest them to anyone for any event!

After emailing back and forth we made an appointment to speak over the phone and low and behold.. was still given the same bad attitude. Very short and vague answers, no attempt to share excitement or make me feel comfortable/that she wanted to be speaking with me. If you're the front line of a business I highly recommend making an effort to get to know your clients or just don't act like the people who want to spend thousands of dollars on your services are a bother.
