About a year overdue on this... We were looking for loan broker to help us with a mortgage, and had already begun the process with another broker, who was efficient and professional, but wasn't putting in the effort I hoped for to find us the best deal (he found the 1st reasonable product, then quit looking). Then my co-worker recommended Craig - and said "he drove his Mercedes to my work parking lot so I could sign papers on the trunk!" THis sounded like the type of effort I was looking for, so I gave Craig a call... a) He invited us down to his office the very first night, at 9pm b) He reviewed our credit situation - we had GREAT credit BUT had just had the first (and only) unpaid CC payment (an auto-debit from a forgotten CC) which dropped our score by 100 points. Craig said not to worry, he'd fix it in 3 days. We were skeptical, b/c our previous loan broker had told us nothing could be done about it. -------CRAIG FIXED IT IN 3 DAYS ------ and got our credit score back up in time to qualify for a significantly better rate. c) He drove to our signing (30+ minutes away) to go over everything with us (which our realtor didn't even do) d) ....the best part... Near the very end of escrow, we realized that the loan product we were pursuing actually cost more than we thought. Craig was very apologetic - it was a misunderstanding between him and the lender. I told Craig we weren't going to be able to do it... and he chipped in nearly $6000 out of his own fee so that we could go forward with it. So we ended up with a BETTER product than we could really afford, because Craig was willing to make things right for us. THAT is the kind of broker I'm looking for! Craig was really amazing in helping in a couple of ways. First, we were looking to get a reverse mortgage for my mom's home. We were put in contact with Craig and he was able to secure this for us. It was a tedious process, but he walked us through every step of the way (and there were a lot of steps) and even came to us for document signings and getting copies of documents. My mom was able to get her reverse mortgage and this meant so much to our family as she was able to stay in her home through her final days. Then I decided to try to give him a try to refinance my own home loan. He was there every step of the way and made it seem so easy as he found a mortgage that worked for us.
