First, they were by far the least expensive of the custom blind companies we contacted - and by a lot! We had been given a referral by our architect so that made us more comfortable even though the price was half the cost of the nearest competitor we contacted. Second - such great service! Kevin was so easy to work with and made great recommendations. We got 2 different kind of blinds - blackout shades for our living room and we were able to get them in the exact same color as the paint we used. The other in our bedroom where we wanted a combination of a solar shade so light would still come through but greatly reduce the heat - and curtains for privacy at night. Third - flexibility! We had to change the install date multiple times due to changes in the schedule - but that was never an issue for Kevin. And then once they were installed, he offered great recommendations on the bond hub, which allowed us to schedule the blinds opening and closing on a schedule and even helped us figure out how to use it despite us buying it from Amazon instead of him. Some of our windows, Especially the electric roller, shades, Very much subpar. We worked with Kaz and his wife about a year ago. Some of them roller shades have issues. Some of them have stopped working, and some of them with battery issues, battery runs dry after a week or so. We were told, based on a full charge, this should last six months. So 3 out of 17 electric roller blinds, will not work without it being constantly plugged in because the batteries are dead. There are no support whatsoever. And these roller shades are all completely out of sync. Pictures below for some examples. The center one is closed, the one on the left is slightly open, and the one on the right is halfway open. They're all completely out of sync. The ones in our dining room, and the ones in our living room, and our kids room, are also all out of sync. Also, these blinds Somehow have formed a static cling. So it doesn't have a beautiful shape when it's closed. The center of them stick together because of static electricity. The ones our neighbors. A different company, our flawless. And they're cheaper. The shutters, look very nice, but they are really cheap quality. The plastic are very lightweight. We have Worked with Budget blinds and a few other companies during our time, and I'm sad to say this is the worst of the qualities we have dealt with. The part that actually saddens us the most, and very disappointed, we, tried contacting Kaz for a solution, but after we paid him the last check, we haven't heard back from him since. There were no replies to our phone calls, messages, or emails. I have records to show that we have tried contacting them multiple times, in multiple ways. No reply, absolutely none.

The problem is that when he left and upon inspection, there are drywall chips around the windows. Now the windows themselves have to be repaired. I have never been so furious about paying as much as I did for shades and "professional installation" to have my windows look so horrible. I would expect better and more careful service. So yes, you can expect the blinds and drapes to look great, but also expect to repair the drywall to your windows when they are done.

I am so happy I chose Sewell shutters. My shutters are beautiful. Sewell was my third estimate. I…read morewasn't even going to meet with them because I was happy with the second guy...but I thought, I already have the appointment, so what the heck. Well, I was blown away by the professionalism and knowledge displayed by the Sewell representatives. I especially liked the demonstration of how the wood shutters are put together and how Sewell differs from the cheaper-made shutters on the market. Sewell beat my second guy estimate by $700, so I placed a deposit. The next week, the measurement guy came out, and I was even more pleased. He helped me choose the perfect arrangement for my windows and helped me see that some of my window plans may not be feasible for certain types of windows. For example, I wanted double hung shutters on 3 of my windows, and these have drawbacks. The man took a sample of my home's paint to match so that the shutters matched my trim exactly. The hanging went smoothly and was right on time. It took a little over one month from the time of the first visit. The shutters are absolutely beautiful.
