The atmosphere is lively and a bit rowdy, possibly because right outside is the hotel bar area. It's also good for big groups. Would definitely come back if I'm in Sydney again.

My friends tried the chicken green curry and found it flavorful but a little less spicy to their taste. Be warned - meat is not Halal. I stuck to seafood which is cooked separately we were assured. The names of the dishes were adorable, the owners must have had a bit of fun coming up with them! We got Panang with a Bang! (panang curry) and Razzle Dazzle (chili & basil stir-fry). With any of the dishes you are able to choose your option of tofu, chicken, beef, pork, prawns or seafood, although it includes a protein in the dish description it is easily substituted. The tofu was a true standout here and not like any other. It was ever so slightly crisp on the outer with a soft, melting inside which was heavenly in the stir-fry. Jasmine rice is $2.50pp and refillable, which you most likely will have to do as they start off small. There weren't too many people on a weeknight but it seemed takeaway was a popular choice. This was a steal, so my partner and I each bought one and set off to find this place. While I admit the surrounding food court is a bit dated (chairs from the '80s, closed shops, minimal foot traffic), the food is *amazing* and even without the Scoopon, the prices here are impossible to beat. I'm already planning our next visit, but here's what we had this time around... My partner had the Penang Chicken which was made on the spot. It was wonderfully flavored -- usually restaurants go too heavy on the coconut milk and skimp on the other sauces -- not so here! Great balance to the dish and just the right amount of sauce to thoroughly soak the accompanying rice. I had the BBQ Chicken and Fish Chili lunch special, which are two items from the pre-prepped lunch options. I normally don't get fish from food court stalls, but I'm really glad I made the exception -- the fish was well salted, tangy and spicey and the accompanying french beans (are they called long beans here..?) were crisp and not over-cooked. The BBQ Chicken was on the cool and dry side, but the flavor was also spot on. Unfortunately, we dug in so quickly that I forgot to take photos of our plating. It was nothing special though -- a few dollops of Thai curries on a bed of rice -- but man, I wish I could do it all over again. Definitely worth 5 stars. Great for anyone looking for a good meal at a great price.

I grew up at a time when the local Chinese was ubiquitous - as still seems to be the case in country towns - but now it is definitely the green chicken curry. Thai Nine is 'eat-in-Thai' - the ambience is calm and Asian, the service friendly and prompt, and the quality of the food warrants lingering rather than scoffing out of take-away plastic.
