I got a Caxton FX Card for my 18 year old daughter to use on
holiday in Tenerife, and loaded it with 300 euros. I checked the balance online and confirmed it
was cleared into the account. Lastly I
checked that the card works OK in a Barclays ATM, i.e. the PIN is correct, and
my daughter went on holiday with the card.
On arrival in Tenerife she tried to use the card to get cash from an ATM
and the ATM refused the transaction and instructed that she must contact
her bank. She phoned me and I
called CaxtonFX. It was by then 8:00 pm
and the Caxton call centre operator said that they don't have any help service
at all outside office hours but asked if I would like to cancel the
card! I asked if she was seriously
telling me that Caxton have literally no support at all for stranded card
holders whose cards are not working and she confirmed that that is Caxton
policy. I believe anyone who relies on
this card is making a very grave mistake and I would never ever use them again
in any circumstances. read more
