It's called Punjabi Grill and the minute you walk in it looks like a kebab shop as does the menu. Curry, Pizza and Burgers in the same shop. I usually stay miles away from places like this but in this instance I thought I would give it a go. And am I glad I did. I ordered a Palak Paneer, Sheek Kebab and two Tandoori Rotis and the total bill including a bottle of water was £6.20....wow :-)) The food arrived hot, Rotis were freshly made and they also gave me a side salad with mint yogurt to go with the meal. The palak paneer was divine and took me back to my days travelling India and eating at roadside eateries called Dhabas. The Sheek kebab was also tasty albeit a bit dry. All in all a fabulous meal and the place was full of Indian and Pakistanis and like me they were enjoying themselves immensely. One guy at another table was tapping his lamb shank bone to get every bit of marrow and sauce out of it. Another guy licked clean his Biryani and another the same with his pizza. All I can assume is that the other dishes were as equally good as mine. Definitely coming back here for a cheap feed when in Reading. Don't let the looks or the menu fool you ;-)) This place is not located in the best part of town and it is all about the food and nothing more. Drinks list is minimal water or fizzy drinks. Take a seat and get your table number, study the menu and then go up to the till ('register' in American) to place your order and pay for it. When it's ready, someone brings it to your table. The chicken is excellent. Several varieties of spice levels, ranging from Extra Hot, Medium and Lemon & Herb or Mango & Lime. I particularly enjoy the Medium, which I find just at the top level of my tolerance for spiciness. They offer the chicken in pieces - quarter, half or whole - as well as a variety of wraps, burgers and pitas. If you're not a meat-eater, they have Portobello mushroom, veggie and bean options. Sides. Oh, the sides! Almost good enough by themselves - I usually go with the corn on the cob, mashed potatoes or coleslaw, but the mashed peas and spicy rice might be more to your liking. I've not tried the desserts, but the ice creams and assorted cakes look good when I see others partaking. Drinks are unusual for a UK restaurant. Yes, they have single bottled beers and poured juices, but there's also a self-serve soda fountain. Free refills. How American! Outside tables for when the weather is better.

We often buy the kids lunch on the way back from shopping at the weekend, and the staff are friendly, quick and rarely make mistakes. They even helped us get a better deal (and thus spent LESS money) at the drive through once. They have the usual breakfast menu and burger menu, and do all the specials. They always give the kids different toys in their happy meals which is great and something the other branches dont think about.

Once they made an extra drink and just gave it to me free! The food is so nice and I sometimes sit in the near by park enjoying my great McDonalds. The restaurant itself is bright and clean with plenty of seats and tables with places for children. One bad aspect is the speed of service which is quite slow and sometimes there can be a queue back to the door especially if staff are also dealing with 'drive-thru' customers. The food is usually always fresh and hot.
