Internet service is fast and free. Staff are lovely. This library participates in several inter-library loan partnerships in Vermont and possibly elsewhere - so if they don't have it, it's likely that they can get it pretty quickly. We went to the Geek the Library event back in May - it was great! So many folks came, and lots of interesting geeks shared their particular interests - watershed conservation, Steampunkers, mead-makers, the Stringfield Springer bluegrass group, and the pedal-powered smoothie bike were some of my favorites! Hope it becomes a yearly event. The annual booksale (usually in July) is also fabulous!

The library is quite modern on the inside despite being in an older and refined building. A large collection of books including the usual fiction, non-fiction, reference and periodicals. Friendly and helpful staff who helped me get settled. And a free wifi that worked very well. Street parking with meters and you're expected to find a different space after two hours. There was no further explanation offered, no further elaboration, or justification for that amount. That is the basis of my Yelp. The day I got the notice, I was, ironically, driving to Boston to return books to both the Boston Public Library, and a university library. When I returned to Brattleboro and saw the notice, I came in inquire about the threatening tone of the note. I was assured by reference librarian the that they only sent that after an initial notice had been ignored, and that fine amount was encoded in Vermont law. I had not recieved any prior notice and I asked if there was a record that the first notice was indeed sent to me. The reference librarian then took me back to the office behind the main desk. A woman there looked up my account and told both of us that there had, in fact, been no prior notice sent. There had indeed been an error. I love the charm of the library, but I woud not assume people are out to harm it or inflict financial strain on it. I am curious to know how anyone (particularly a legislator) thought $400 was a good idea, or why it would be used as an incentive to get a book back? That's where I think $25 would do the trick. It seems like overkill and unecessarily threatening.

Beautiful old building that's clearly well cared for and preserved. There was a book sale going on…read morewhen I visited, and they were also hosting a music and poetry event with free admission. Even without an event, it is such a fun place to just wander around. There is a community board, lots of unique seating areas, and a whimsical children's section that was especially cute. They even had tote bags for sale if you want a souvenir. The whole space spans three levels, with community artwork on display throughout. Just a really special place to spend some time. I'm so glad that such a beautiful building is so well preserved and cared for.

Where is one to find access to this kind of distracting technology in the hills of, specifically, Weston, VT? The nearest open Library - in Londonderry, of course. The library was open, and the staff wonderfully helpful! The had a good supply of books, an even better supply of amazing history, and best of all, a strong and free WiFi! I published my article, and since it was raining (POURING!) when I wanted to leave, stayed to chat with the man minding the building. He was great to talk with, and offered some warm and welcoming insights to the library and area. We talked about a lot, including the Weston Priory where I was headed. If you need a quiet spot to get a good book, or just to get some things done, check out this gem.

We looked at many places, first in Maine, then in NH. I was reluctant to move, and agreed to it only if we could find a town with both a bowling alley and a great library! My husband just wanted a lot of land and no traffic. On our first visit to the area we checked out the library. I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful space, the stained glass windows, the hand-carved bears coat rack, the huge fireplace, and the cozy reading nooks. The head librarian, Rita Morgan, was friendly and knowledgeable, and made us feel very welcome. What cinched the deal for me was the majestic grandfather clock that chimed and bonged every hour. After 41 years here, the bowling alley is long gone, and Rita Morgan, sadly, passed on many years ago, but her successors have kept the homey feeling of the space while moving it slowly into the 21st century. While I have never gotten used to the harsh winters and buggy springs, I am happy to say I still love the library!!

The location is almost in the centre of the city, so it is accessible to everyone that is a Claremont resident. My friend goes to Dartmouth and gave me a tour of this main building on Campus. I was not expecting the building to be very different inside. There are multiple study area: a traditional dark oak room with chandeliers, a more modern and open study area with lots of light, and a basement area with a large mural. They also have a side room that's in memory of Dr. Seuss, who was an alumni at Dartmouth.
