They even have an online catalog you can reserve books and audiobooks from, and the curbside pickup during the pandemic was a true blessing. Only wish the hours were longer, but for a small town library the Wear Public Library is a real gem!

This is such a cute little library! Even though it may seem small (due to the fact it serves a…read moresmall town) it has so many books and movies on the shelves plus it is part of the interlibrary loan system of New Hampshire towns so having a library card here gives you access to so many books, movies, audiobooks, etc. The staff here are friendly and always ready to help. It also hosts many community events, especially ones geared towards children, and in this modern world its great to see and be able to take part in free activities for the family. And don't forget to make use of their online catalog, its so simple and easy to use and it allows you to easily check what they have in the library and even reserve it so its ready to be picked up at the front desk when you walk in. Oh and they have free/discount tickets to attractions across the region and if you're a Weare resident and don't take advantage of this then you are simply living life wrong! Libraries are the heart of communities and its so great to see them still thriving and doing their best to serve their communities in any way they can.

Today's "office" was the Brattleboro library. Easy, clean, comfortable…read more I found a nice spot on the upper floor where I was undisturbed for five hours of emails, quiet Zoom meetings and perhaps a few Yelp reviews got cranked out in between here and there. The library is quite modern on the inside despite being in an older and refined building. A large collection of books including the usual fiction, non-fiction, reference and periodicals. Friendly and helpful staff who helped me get settled. And a free wifi that worked very well. Street parking with meters and you're expected to find a different space after two hours. Okay, I did that. [Review 18442 overall - 42 in Vermont - 1964 of 2022.]

Thanks Jerry. My experience there was really unfortunate. I recieved a threatening notice that…read moreVermont law allowed for a fine of up to $400. for a book that was not returned. There was no further explanation offered, no further elaboration, or justification for that amount. That is the basis of my Yelp. The day I got the notice, I was, ironically, driving to Boston to return books to both the Boston Public Library, and a university library. When I returned to Brattleboro and saw the notice, I came in inquire about the threatening tone of the note. I was assured by reference librarian the that they only sent that after an initial notice had been ignored, and that fine amount was encoded in Vermont law. I had not recieved any prior notice and I asked if there was a record that the first notice was indeed sent to me. The reference librarian then took me back to the office behind the main desk. A woman there looked up my account and told both of us that there had, in fact, been no prior notice sent. There had indeed been an error. I love the charm of the library, but I woud not assume people are out to harm it or inflict financial strain on it. I am curious to know how anyone (particularly a legislator) thought $400 was a good idea, or why it would be used as an incentive to get a book back? That's where I think $25 would do the trick. It seems like overkill and unecessarily threatening.

A home away from home. A literal refuge in the storm (when…read moreyour power is out or you need to stop in to get out of the rain or snow). A community center, with crafts and reading groups. A wealth of knowledge, both in the books it holds and all the other ones you can access through its network. The Goffstown Public Library is a staple of our small town, providing the materials and space for countless events and adventures. I still remember doing their summer reading program as a kid and volunteering there as a teenager - researching "hamster sleeping patterns" and college application timelines - meeting my friends here and rushing to pick up a new book that had just come in. Get a card, greet one of the many friendly librarians, and get ready to have your mind opened.

I gave this library 4 stars because of the facility. The children's section is in the basement and…read moreI don't want to ever be in a basement and this basement is no different. There are vents in the floor right where they host story time that you can see cobwebs/spider webs and in some hard to reach places - this speaks nothing to the staff. What they can keep clean they do. The bathrooms are always clean, they clean up all the toys the kids leave out and they're always pushing carts of books to put away. Story time here is engaging, it is a mix of great stories and fun songs. There is plenty of participation and the librarians remember us. The front desk is always helpful whether we need to figure out what book we want to read next, check out piles and piles of books or get a museum pass. We're always in close to closing (sorry for that) but they don't kick us out. I do kind of feel like I'm running out of new books to take home and there are a bunch of books that just bore me but that's my fault for not yet taking advantage of the inter library loan option. There are steam toys, puzzles, dolls, cars etc. my son loves coming to the library. We haven't gotten to go to any of the events yet because I'm usually working but they do seem to host a lot for when the schools are closed and based on how great story time is I'm sure they are great. Can I say again that the staff is amazing? I'd like to see them in a newer facility and to be given more staff because I wish I could come after work or Saturday nights/Sundays but otherwise this is a great library.
