With noise cancelling headphones, it was very quiet and a great place to get some laptop done and perhaps even write a few Yelp reviews. A beautiful building, especially the central rotunda. Many stacks of books, organized as they are in a library and a big display of periodicals. Several workstations available. I did not happen to see easily accessible power outlets near the tables. As it's the middle of a very cold winter, quite a few people in here to get warm and stay warm. There is metered street parking nearby. [Review 10485 overall, 252 of 2019.]

I had a very similar experience as "kassandra" from another review. Ive been to MANY libraries in…read moremy life, and this place, hands down, is the worst experience Ive ever had at a library. Those who work there arent exactly the most welcoming. I came to the location to do some research and spend the day at what I heard was a nice place. There was only one working toilet in the entire library for the public - which became quite awkward when I walked in on a VERY drugged up homeless woman who didnt lock the door. "Security" had a huge issue with where people sit at the desks and usage of the power strips for anything other than laptops (cell phone?! Ooh too bad, nope! Cant have that!), despite there being almost no one around in the first place other than a GIGANTIC homeless population inhabiting the fiction, teen department, and computer stations. Dont get me wrong- Im not naive to the idea that homeless people spend a lot of time at libraries and need somewhere to go. Ive spent a LOT of time at many different libraries in my life, so none of that shocks me too much. But it blew my mind my charging my phone at a charging station was much more offensive than the multiple homeless men sitting on the reading benches in the teen and fiction dept purposely watching women's asses as theyd try to browse books. Just not a welcoming, safe feeling place. Will never return. Just go to barnes and noble, they dont yell at you if you need somewhere to charge your own equipment. It smells much nicer, is much cleaner and likely 10x more safe.

A home away from home. A literal refuge in the storm (when…read moreyour power is out or you need to stop in to get out of the rain or snow). A community center, with crafts and reading groups. A wealth of knowledge, both in the books it holds and all the other ones you can access through its network. The Goffstown Public Library is a staple of our small town, providing the materials and space for countless events and adventures. I still remember doing their summer reading program as a kid and volunteering there as a teenager - researching "hamster sleeping patterns" and college application timelines - meeting my friends here and rushing to pick up a new book that had just come in. Get a card, greet one of the many friendly librarians, and get ready to have your mind opened.

I gave this library 4 stars because of the facility. The children's section is in the basement and…read moreI don't want to ever be in a basement and this basement is no different. There are vents in the floor right where they host story time that you can see cobwebs/spider webs and in some hard to reach places - this speaks nothing to the staff. What they can keep clean they do. The bathrooms are always clean, they clean up all the toys the kids leave out and they're always pushing carts of books to put away. Story time here is engaging, it is a mix of great stories and fun songs. There is plenty of participation and the librarians remember us. The front desk is always helpful whether we need to figure out what book we want to read next, check out piles and piles of books or get a museum pass. We're always in close to closing (sorry for that) but they don't kick us out. I do kind of feel like I'm running out of new books to take home and there are a bunch of books that just bore me but that's my fault for not yet taking advantage of the inter library loan option. There are steam toys, puzzles, dolls, cars etc. my son loves coming to the library. We haven't gotten to go to any of the events yet because I'm usually working but they do seem to host a lot for when the schools are closed and based on how great story time is I'm sure they are great. Can I say again that the staff is amazing? I'd like to see them in a newer facility and to be given more staff because I wish I could come after work or Saturday nights/Sundays but otherwise this is a great library.

Beautiful façade and architecture, convenient location, good parking, nice outdoor area…read more More areas for quiet study would be wonderful! There is a reasonable selection of books, however evergreen or more current content could be improved (for example, books on technology that is now nearly obsolete). All libraries are a gift and wonderful resource, including this one. Simultaneously, the study rooms give institutional (prison, mostly) vibes, the chairs, assorted cushions, and potentially mold ridden carpet join in information-fuel, melodious anthem with themes of longing for revival, minimalism, and a spark of life. The significant audiobook and music collection on CDs inspires me to go purchase a new or used CD player! The bottom floor greeted me with a food smell I couldn't determine if it was hot dogs, lasagne or pizza, but it was someone's lunch time and not the smell I would expect in a library. A glance to the right up a dark corridor with low ceilings boasted a dehumidifier, a nod to the challenge it is to control environmental issues, nevermind keeping an environment suitable for books and developing lungs. The outdoor area is in fact amazing. Stepping outside my lungs filled with relief, confirming my suspicion about unavoidable mold/other allergen contamination that happens to most indoor environments over time. The air freshener placed over the vent at the entrance is a call for action if I ever saw one. Residents! Show up to the relevant upcoming meetings (no excuses, here's the calendar lol https://www.derrynh.org/calendar-by-event-type/16) and make your voice heard! Libraries are nearly always underfunded, and Derry's needs and environmental overhaul for health and safety of the workers and visitors.
