Yesterday I had a situation where a package was delivered via FedEX that shouldn't have been, and on top of that, it was not delivered to my door as my instructions state. It was ~74" long and 85 pounds, much more than I could handle on my own. Not knowing anyone in my building complex, and living alone, I had no way to get it up to my third floor apartment. Anthony, form CAV Movers, happened to be sitting complex Clubhouse and graciously offered to help. He even had a cart on hand to assist. Between the two of us we moved this box across the parking lot, up the elevator and into my apartment. But to be fair, he did 90% of the work. I even learned they do out of state moves!! We had a positive experience with Cav Movers moving from Charlottesville to Northern Virginia. I felt like their estimate was pretty competitive. I ended up getting a flat rate given how unpredictable NoVA traffic can be. I liked their transparency and responsiveness. I called around to a few different companies and Cav Movers seemed the most responsive. I can't think of anything more stressful than not being able to get ahold of movers on a moving day so this was one huge reason why I went with this company. It was exactly the move that I wanted - I wanted to be able to pack my own boxes so that I could curate what I was bringing versus what I wanted to discard/donate. We packed everything loose into boxes and Cav Movers did the rest. John and Dante were our movers and they were incredibly efficient and courteous. We booked Cav Movers over the movers we used 2 years prior due to price. I was very specific about what we needed and the extra stops. They quoted 3 hours which seemed right. That is how long it took the previous company 2 years prior. The guys showed up in a Uhaul and worked hard but it took them 8 hours and we had to help with the moving which defeated the purpose. Then they charged an extra $1,000. These guys were not sent with any equipment to help them like we had seen before. No dolly, no straps to help lift and they struggled. In the end i paid to get everyone away from my home. I've emailed, texted etc requesting them to do the right thing and give some money back and they will not respond. Just a "Sorry we missed the mark on this one". We saw nothing that they portray in any photos. Just random people sent to move us. We booked movers to not do it ourselves. Damaged drywall with a large hole, a $2000 exercise machine destroyed after the company reassured me they could handle it, belongings left behind after they were pointed out to a mover, Drew, during a final walk through, and two young men with minimal experience sent to move a house full of belongings with a truck that was too small... Cav Movers created a terrible moving experience for me and my family, followed by no apologies from the company and an empty promise to repair the exercise machine. I did a review on here about a good experience I once had with this company, but I can no longer recommend them. I will never use Cav Movers again. One of the two young men who had only been with the company for four months was very friendly and motivated, but his efforts were not enough to change what was a poorly done moving job and an unprofessional response. read more

I know a one star review is harsh, but my move experience with Cav Movers was pretty much the worst case scenario as far as hiring movers goes. I scheduled a move with Cav Movers in July 2023. They confirmed over the phone that the move was scheduled, and I received a confirmation email from them saying they would arrive between 10-12 the morning of the move. Nobody ever showed up. I called 5 times between 10:30 and 12:30 and was unable to even get someone on the phone. I had to scramble to try to figure out what I could do since I had my whole apartment packed up and needed to be out since the lease was ending. Obviously, this was incredibly stressful on top of the stress that already comes with moving. Luckily, Two Men and a Truck had a cancellation that afternoon and were able to help me. They were friendly, sympathetic to the situation, and happy to help out so based on my experience, I'd strongly recommend that you go with Two Men and a Truck instead! I eventually did speak with someone and they were apologetic, but couldn't do much at that point. I was fine to put it behind me, but they've reached out multiple times over the last month to ask me for a review, so here you go guys! read more

Don't waste your money. I moved from a one bedroom to a townhome. Not only did it take all day, none of my couch cushions were covered nor some of my paintings. They dragged nice furniture on the ground and I have chips all over my pottery barn furniture, Lamps smashed, they put cloth furniture on the ground of their truck, didn't cover the mattresses, so gross. Between both of us, we have moved about 20 times in our lives; this was the worst experience. The men from Cav Movers were in a hurry to finish and left the house we moved out of before they had finished packing and had to be recalled. When they arrived at our new home, they brought in our property but made little effort to put the furniture and boxes in the rooms for which they had been marked. They didn't unroll the carpets before placing furniture. It has been our experience that movers typically do this. We are in our 70s and didn't expect to have to move heavy boxes upstairs. Before they had finished at the new place the men from Cav Movers announced they wanted to be paid and that they were leaving. (The crew chief told the crew that they were being paid a flat rate that that they had worked enough hours--time to go.) We refused to pay them until they finished, but they left anyway, but not before an altercation during which one of us was shoved for no apparent reason by one of the movers. We also found that some of the furniture had been scratched and damaged. The three most important pieces were an antique wardrobe, an antique dining chair, and an exercise machine that they had disassembled, but not reassembled. We called the managers and they came round and helped us straighten out the place. They also offered us a small discount for the wardrobe and dining chair. They promised to return in a week to glue the broken antiques together, but they did not return. We also found other damage and things we needed (and would have reasonably expected) help with. We called the managers again, but they have never returned our calls. Ultimately, we hired other movers to partially straighten out the mess left by Cav Movers. The moving crew featured on their website shows a cheerful, cleancut crew. Nothing like the crew that showed up to move us. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! My daughter hired them (I paid) and they were left at her home with specific instructions on what to do. My daughter was under time pressure and could not observe the process. They literally forget several items including an obvious bicycle. They put a hole in the hole while moving an item and never told us. Lastly my daughter had them store boxes at a storage facility for the summer. There were 3 boxes marked "fragile" on every side of the box. Last week when my daughter took the boxes out of storage and discovered that all 3 of these boxes were at the very bottom and most items had been broken from the stacking and now need to be replaced. I have used Cav Movers twice now, and both times the movers were very efficient and attentive. I received a callback very quickly after requesting an estimate, and I was able to book service a few weeks before they were needed. Movers asked how I would like this or that loaded into the truck, suggested we put more delicate items in my car to keep them safer, and provided blanket wraps for those items too. I had different gentlemen each time, and they were all very nice and professional. I also appreciate the ability to pay with Venmo, it makes things easier during a hectic move. read more

Only filled half of our truck and hid the open space with mattress and then told us a lot of items would not fit. Had to get rid of a lot of items only to find out when unloading the truck there was ample space still available behind the mattresses. All of my items were scratched and damaged due to cav movers not using the provided blankets etc for padding and protection of scratches read more

The two young men that moved me, Gray and Anthony, did an outstanding job. They showed up on time. There was 0 damage to walls or furniture. I was moving out of a 3 story townhome so there were a lot of stairs.They were focused and done quickly. I truly am grateful for their professional manner.
