What a horrible experience!! My apologies for not getting this posted sooner..... We recently just relocated from Charlottesville to Boulder Colorado and contracted "Move Me charlottesville" to simply move the furniture from the house into to the moving van we rented. Here is how the movers packed my items for moving 2000 miles (give or take), across country.... As you can see from the picture, this is how the "Experienced and Knowledgeable Movers" loaded the van which resulted in EXTENSIVE damaged furniture and inefficiently utilized space within the 26' moving van. Keep in mind a 26' moving van is rated to move up to a 5-bedroom (plus) house, complete with furniture/appliances. Our home was approximately 2000 square feet, with only one full bedroom set of furniture (king size bed w/headboard and footboard, dresser w/mirror, 6-drawer dresser and two nightstands. No appliances! Additional furniture included a kitchen table with 6 chairs, a waist high buffet, an antique pie safe, antique three corner cabinet, six end tables, a coffee table, 4-wicker outdoor chairs, two fire pits approximately 36 inches in diameter, an outdoor settee set with 2 chairs and a table, a gas grill, three kayaks, a golf cart and a 500 lb. gun safe. Play loaded the golf cart myself. Additional items included approximately 50 packed boxes (16 x 16 and 20 x 20 inches), inclusive of 4 Pelican Cases/hard cases (approximately 40 x 20 x 20), three rocking chairs, and a 24 x 24 x 6' wooden antique shelf. This was everything for a 26-foot moving van. The movers mixed heavy and lightweight objects (symmetrical and non-symettrical together, including heavyweight objects on top of lightweight objects--with the boxes identified as "fragile/do not stack/top box only), did not adequately pad furniture to keep it from rubbing against other pieces (significant scratches/impressions/dents/cracks), I collapsed rooftop on my golf cart and broke the crown molding on the top of a 150-year old solid cherry three corner cupboard. It was obvious from the beginning the movers did not know how to properly load/stack the truck with heavy objects on the bottom, lighter/symmetrical objects on top, and fill dead spaces with non-symmetrical/lighter weight objects as they loaded from rear to front. I personally had to contact the manager/owner of another moving company named "Professional Movers" in order to have him come out to assess and coach the movers in moving the safe from my basement up to the driveway to the moving van. Yes, as the manager of Move Me stated, he assisted the movers, however, having witnessed firsthand was more of a coach than body in order to motivate the movers to move the safe. This resulted in a three-hour delay which inadvertently caused us to delay our moves and reschedule hotel stays from Charlottesville to Boulder, CO. On another note, I PERSONALLY, ON MANY OCCASSIONS had to advise the moving crew on how to remove/angle furniture (the king size headboard and three corner cupboard) from the house, as well as make suggestions on how to properly load the moving van. Per Move Me's manager, Charlene, who ended up coming to the residence, her advice to me was "you can tell them how you want them to move/pack the furniture. My question is this..."Why should the person hiring the moving company need/have to do this!?" If I am not mistaken, this is what the company (supposedly) is hired to do, correct? Also, one of the movers smelled as if he had just left the bar at 3:00 a.m. in the morning after a night of heavy drinking. Additionally, several of the movers outwardly complained and made statements to the effect of "when will this move be over" and other derogatory comments about moving contents from the house to the moving van. Also, one mover commented, as he was literally holding furniture to keep it from falling out in order to close the roll down door, "would hate to be the person who opened this door!" Hence, back to the initial picture of what it looked like when the door was open. Hence, back to the initial picture of what it looked like when the door was opened for the first time in boulder. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Upon arrival in Boulder, a company I hired to unload the moving van and its contents (Boulder All Star Movers, LLC) were nothing but top notch. First and foremost the movers were "amazed and astounded" of the manner in which the moving van was loaded. These movers were professional, trained, knowledgeable and efficient. The movers padded doors and used blankets to pad doorway entrances into the house/rooms, stair railings, etc. Additionally, the movers pointed out the damages incurred from furniture/belongings improperly stacked, padded, damaged and rubbing against one another. These movers even commented they would be happy to testify as witnesses if I wished to make claims on the damaged furniture in court. Horrible! If closer, we would be in court! read more

Wesley and his crew were prompt and communicative. I booked them for two hours (the minimum) and we were complete in under that time (probably 1.5 hours) for a one bedroom apartment. I had originally booked another mover in CVille, but I decided to switch to Move It CVille because the price was half that of the top rated yelp company. I was very happy with the service, and they are of great quality for a great price. They packed my 10' UHaul to the brim! read more

I am so glad I booked this company for my move. There was confusion on my part on the date of the move, but the company was understanding and rescheduled my move. I also wavered on getting a truck, and then last minute decided on one, and they were again understanding. I met Bill and Savion who were courteous, efficient, and positive throughout the whole move. It also rained towards the end but they pushed through. Highly recommend. read more

This was the most painful move ever. I should have gone with my gut instinct and stayed away when I had difficulty communicating with the owner regarding the details of this move. I mean moves are never fun, but this was horrible. They showed up 2 hours late, they had a smaller truck than stated, and only 3 men when I paid for four. They adjusted the cost because of issues, but fighting over that did not help resolve my stress level. Also, they scratched some of our nice wood furniture. Someone was sent to fix it, but of course you cannot undo scratches and dents in wood. Bottom line I would never recommend this company. Maybe they are good for small moves, but our 3br house was way above their comfort zone. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the actual movers were nice and the price was adjusted, but I can't give more than that. read more

They were just great. We used them to load a truck, but there was a hiccup with the truck rental and they were gracious enough to wait around for an hour without charging extra. They provided an extra person at no extra charge, and all of the people were totally professional, competent, and confidence-inspiring. The business side of the experience ran smoothly too--they were easy to communicate with and pay online. They were so great we wanted to use them for another small in-town move, and they were even able to provide the small truck we needed at a very reasonable price. Unqualified recommend! read more

I hired this company to move mom from Charlottesville to Greenbelt Maryland. I didn't think I'd find anyone to do this, but they stepped right up and took on the job. We moved a two-bedroom condo starting on a Friday morning. Joe and Dave were on-time and very polite, and worked non-stop until the truck was loaded. It took much less time than I thought because of their conscientious attitude. They drove to Maryland, dropped off the furniture and boxes, putting everything into the rooms as marked. I even gave them a floor plan with approx locations for the furniture and they did a fantastic job of setting everything where it needed to be. Very impressive company to work with and highly recommended for your local C'Ville moves -- and even if you're going a little further. :) read more

They were on time, worked fast, didn't break anything and were polite. What more can you ask for from movers?

I thought long and hard about writing this as I don't typically complain publicly about businesses, however, this needs to be said to protect other VA residents. MoveMe CVille is an unethical and poorly run company. I had to ask several times to receive a contract which was finally delivered the day of our move once the movers had already started. They changed the specifics of our move, tried to auto charge our card, and THREATENED to send us to collections only 2 days after our move. We watched them damage several items and had proof, and they also lost items. They said they would only address these issues after we paid. We were forced to pay to avoid collections. Once we paid the invoice in full (which was several hundred dollars more than the quote) I asked again about the damages and they simply said no. They said they were addressing it by saying no. They cite their website again and again as if that is the customer's responsibility to read, and they treat their website copy like a legal document - which it is clearly not. Not only were we absolutely treated with zero respect, we were threatened and bullied. I want to make sure that no one else is treated this way, hence this review as well as us letting Realtor's in the area know about this. read more

Please read all the reviews filtered and unfiltered before losing your money with Rachel and her company. She is happy to leave you high and dry on the move if you do not agree to her last minute 300% price increase on a move. That's assuming that the movers ever actually show up or, in my case, 2 1/2 hours late. When we were fused to deal with her sudden big price increases, she called them away and kept calling us to tell us that it's our fault that she can't run her company correctly. I personally caught her in 11 lies. Yes 11 lies on the phone as she read deceptions about service windows, inventory, why she can't get her shit together, you name it. Her only goal is to get into an argument with the customer and apparently this is a daily occurrence per folks I've spoken with since. She thinks by changing the name for company every few months, this will not catch up with her. read more

The company had a miscommunication on my local move. They picked up our goods at 11:00 AM and did not arrive at our new location two hours later. It should have taken 30 minutes. Called the company and discovered the truck was at the office but the crew was on another job. They arrived with our goods five hours later. Company discounted the rate but they only deserve two stars. read more

We have moved many, many times over the last 15 years so this was not a new process to us, but it was by far the worst experience we've ever had moving. We used Move Me C'ville in 2016, but I'm writing this review now because the owner has decided that based on my husbands negative review from 2016, that she would continue to be bitter and give his business bad reviews in 2018 even though she has never used his services. There are too many issues to detail them all here, however, some of the highlights include her coming to our house to take notes and give an estimate and then showing up with a truck too small so they had to go rent another one, which we had to pay for. She also refused to provide a contract until an hour into the move, which was barely legible because her printer was almost out of ink. Then the movers damaged multiple items including a box I watched them squash under the truck as they raised the lift because it was set too close to the back bumper. They also dropped our headboard in the driveway. A lot of items were damaged but when we let her know (right away) she told us we had to pay in full before getting reimbursed for the items. She threatened to send us to collections and it had only been 4 days since our in town move. So we paid and then she told us she would not be considering our claim. She was so rude and unprofessional and made wild accusations about how we were trying to take money from them and we shouldn't because they're family-run, but over two years later it is her that is leaving false reviews on a company she's never used. AVOID MOVE ME C'VILLE at all costs!! There are many other companies that will do a better job. And a customer should always be able to leave an honest review, even if it's negative, without fear of repercussions. I only wish I could leave less than one star. read more
