Prices are reasonable and staff is nice. Machines seem well maintained and work great. I probably wouldn't recommend the jetski tour. Unfortunately we got stuck behind some slower folks and the instructor just went ahead with some teenage boys and did donuts while we slowly caught up. Would recommend they check in with folks before heading out (and at stopping points during the ride) and see how comfortable folks feel with their position in the line based on their speed. Also, I'd recommend adding a bit of information throughout when we stop - we saw some cool things but didn't know what any of it was or where we were. We had a great time jet-skiing for 30 minutes on separate jets (for two people, it was about $110 and cheaper than others in the area). The jet-skiing area we were restricted to was large enough for two people to amply spread out and not be in each other's way. There were no other riders, so we had the whole space to ourselves. We were given adequate instruction on how to operate the jet ski, and for a beginner it didn't seem to difficult, and instructions were clear. They allowed us to take photos afterwards but it's not recommended to bring any valuables with you. They kept our car key in a guarded location, so we felt assured. They also have kayak rentals, but we didn't kayak. Recommended! read more

Jet skis and parasailing, indeed. I did both and loved both. I had the privilege of going on the boat and jet ski with John. He was extremely knowledgeable and exciting to be around. These experiences I had really made my trip to OBX and was really needed after a stressful couple of weeks prior. Pricing for parasailing and jet skiing vary on the amount of time you want to be out in the water or how high you want to go up on the parasail. Either way, both experiences are 100% worth the time spent and the money paid. You get ample time out on the water and they are good not to screw you out of your cash. When going parasailing, allot around 1 hour to an 1.5 hour to be out on the water and arrival. Make sure to arrive early to ensure you find the place. Parking can be a bit tricky if you do not pay attention to the signs and you're purchasing your tickets on one side of the bridge before heading to Mateo to go on the boat. Parasailing flights go up to 800 feet and you're up there 12-15 minutes. They accept solo and couples flights as long as the couple does not exceed a certain weight between the 2 of them. I can't remember the exact number though. I felt after talking to a couple of other parasailing places that this was going to be the best deal you could get, and my gut proved me right that coming to Causeway Watersports to be the right decision. read more

Our jet ski trip was amazing! There were 10 of us, we did the hour and 15 minute jet ski tour. Our entire experience was phenomenal. Our tour guide was great, they made sure we felt comfortable driving the jet skis and that we were prepared. Our tour guide took us near a light house, through the marsh, and we saw dolphins. I've rented jet skis on several vacations all over the East coast and this was by far the best! read more

Our family went with another last week on a much needed vacation and decided to rent kayaks and SUP's on the sound. We ended up at Causeway Watersports and were really glad we did! James and Steve O were enormously patient and helpful with us--especially our 11 year old--had a learning curve how to use a SUP. We knew a storm was rolling in and thought we had a bit more time on the water, but had to bail sooner than we thought. They were so gracious, they told us we could come back the next day and start again, and didn't charge us. We came back the next day and it was windier than the day before making the water harder to navigate using a SUP. Our daughter got tired very quickly and they allowed us to switch to a 2 person kayak. One of our party wasn't aware of the wind strength and ended up drifting all the way to the other side of the sound and was not able to get back. James brought her back in on his jet ski, towing the SUP behind him. Both men were incredibly kind and patient with our families. It made the adventure so much nicer than it could have been. We rented jet skis, well we finally rented them after waiting 45 minutes past our reservation time. When we arrived, they were "running behind" and told us to have the kids run up and down the tower to pass the time away. How far were they behind? Not sure, they wouldn't say. Then the previous riders decided to run into each other and that's when it kinda came off the rails. The manager was arguing with the accident customers, and the entire staff decided to stop what they were doing to assess the damage. At this point there were no more skis to ride and somehow they overbooked a time slot and told some walk-in customers it would be possible to ride as well. Meanwhile we started calling other rental places and was planning on getting a refund. That's when they got us on the jet skis and we had fun anyways. As far as the equipment goes, the life jackets were worn and dirty, the skis were showing their age, and the course was smaller than other places. You would be better off calling somewhere else. read more

This was the most unprofessional group we encountered on our vacation. We made an appointment and when we arrived they were triple booked. We waited over an hour only to be shorted 1 jet ski for our party. We barely received the safety briefing only to have an employee call/yell inappropriate names/comments to my teenage son when he did not come back to the loading area correctly. 3.5 stars... Causeway is one of the many places to rent JetSkis in the OuterBanks. They've been around for many years and have a family like business that makes you feel good about supporting them. They don't have the newest shiny matching jet skis like some of the larger companies but I didn't mind. Causeway had the lowest rates I was able to find in the OBX. Going first thing (9am) on certain weekdays will get you a discount of about $83 for the hour (normal price is $98/hr I believe). The reason I'm giving them a 3.5 star rating is that I was a little disappointed in the size of their riding area. You could get from one end of the area to the other in about 20-25 seconds. The water isn't much deeper than hip deep so it was nice to have the water warmer than expected but it would have been nicer to have deep enough water to jump off for a swim and a larger area to play around in. They also offer longer jer ski tours if you want go go further and have more of a purpose of your ride, I think this was about $150 but it was longer than a hour. If you have the money, it's a fun activity. read more

If you plan on going jet skiing in OBX, Causeway is not a bad option depending on what you are looking for... My brother and I debated on the hour in the "Zone" or the tour.... Let me say... For the extra money, GO WITH THE TOUR!!! We had an absolute blast... The machines are a little older, but still plenty fast, and you get to leave the riding zone for some more adventurous areas, like the boating lanes...(That means jumping wakes... :-) which is kind of the point of riding a jet ski...) and zipping through tight turned marshland at max throttle and turning on a dime.... We saw some dolphins, and other wildlife not seen in the riding zone... All in all... Worth the money.... read more

This place was amazing! Everyone was super friendly and very considerate. They care about their customers and their safety! Me and my cousin went parasailing at 800ft and it was the most amazing experience ever. We had it scheduled for Tuesday because they have a coupon deal going on sun-tues where you can parasail at any height for 50$! They called us that Tuesday and had to cancel our flight because it was too windy. They allowed us to reschedule for Wednesday morning. I asked if they would honor the 50$ coupon since they cancelled on us and they said of course(even though it wasn't sun-tues)!! The captain and his helper were super nice and you can pay 20$ for around 50 pictures on an SD card that you can take with you! I felt super safe and would totally go back when I visit again in outer banks! (I recommend going onto the boat if you are wanting to watch someone parasail.) read more

Got to see lots of dolphins up close. The capitain was very knowledgable of dolphins and the area we were in. For a two hour ride only soft drinks and chips were available to purchase. If the boat was full I think they would've run out. A small boat, overall nice. Didn't go to far from the dock. The tour capitains worked together to make sure we were able to spot the dolphins and communicated over cb scanners. A nice ride. read more
