Unfortunately I did not adopt any kittens but I had an amazing time playing with the kitties that were there. We stumbled upon this place while we were walking downtown. Upon walking in we weren't really greeted but that wasn't really a problem. After telling them it was our first time at Cat's Cradle, they were happy to tell us about what they do and how to set up an appointment. Luckily there weren't many people so we were able to get in to play with the kittens within a couple minutes. There were two display windows in the front of the store that they made into play areas/rooms. I think this was a great set up to have to play with the kittens. I enjoyed my time to the fullest. I would come again to adopt a kitten

Fantastic place! The donation you make to go in the cat room goes to a worthy cause, and those few minutes in the cat rental room made me happy for the rest of the day! We had four adorable little kittens in our room, and all looked well cared for and happy. Wish there were more places like this.

I could not be more thankful for Cat's Cradle and everyone involved in helping this kitty (Glenn)! My cousins found this kitten in their backyard, so sick that it could barely move. We weren't sure if he was going to make it through the night, but after giving him a warm bed for the night, we spent the next day calling numerous vets and shelters. No one seemed interested in helping us and as the hours passed by it looked like putting him down was the only option. Glenn needed immediate medical attention, but as a poor college student, I did not have the money to get him the proper care he needed. Finally, we were able to get in contact with Cat's Cradle who did not only help with finding him proper medical attention, but also with financing it. Glenn had a severe upper respiratory infection, which caused him to lose his vision, but after a week of vet visits, we were able to find him a forever home. It has now been two weeks since we found him his home and the update is he is getting healthier everyday. Like any normal kitten he loves attention and is very playful. Cat's Cradle is the reason that Glenn is still alive today. Although I do not have the funds to do so now, Cat's Cradle will be the first organization that I will be donating to after college. A special thanks to Patty for directly helping and communicating with us. Thank you for everything you did to help Glenn get a second chance at life. (Below is a before and after picture).

There are so many wonderful dogs without homes that one need not buy a purebred. These dogs are so grateful and have so much love to give. My boy died Jan.2018. I have a huge hole in my heart, that will never be filled.

We had made an appointment to look at a particular dog, but decided against adopting him.. Instead, we adopted a wee girl, Sandra, who was just over three months old.....We were allowed to "introduce" our German Shepherd (both a "mix" and a "rescue") to "Sandra" and the lady who was assisting us was patient and helpful to us, as the two dogs were introduced. Some folks don't seem to know that dogs may react positively or negatively when first introduced......it takes a bit of time to do it properly. We are pleased to say that In only a week, "Sandra", who is now "Jo-Jo" has adapted very well to our home and has become great friends and playmates with "Hailie", the German Shepherd. Many thanks to the folks at RAWL for assisting in making our adoption possible. We are greatly pleased with RAWL and their dedicated staff! R & R Bennett

Just know that they have a lot of people to help, and patience goes a long way! Here are three areas I will comment on: Fostering: The people who work here are very knowledgeable and care about their animals, and the cat were fostering right now is a total gem. Fostering is totally free, and they provide all the materials you need. They don't allow you to meet the animals ahead of time, so definitely be intuitive reading the foster board. Please look at the medical fosters too! Many of them ar totally healthy, like our cat, and are recovering from minor non contagious issues. The one we have is totally friendly and a great cat. Strays: I brought in one a couple months ago and the spca was able to microchip and check him to see if he was neutered. I brought in a second stray yesterday morning and called to check on him and the worker was so personable and we had a long conversation about his health. I was concerned they would be bothered with me calling to check but was surprised to find the total opposite. ALSO - they have pens in the back specifically for anonymous dumps. I absolutely hate when people drop cats off (I live in the city of cville so it happens all the time), but PLEASE take them to the spca instead. You can do so anonymously but it's so much more humane than leaving them on the street. Adoptions: the prices are really reasonable, and while I haven't adopted (yet), I know fostering is a great way to transition into adoption. I'm not sure theyre doing meets with the animals because of covid, but fostering is a free way to see if the animal fits in your house and you can adopt at any time. Overall, I love the SPCA and would always get a dog or cat from here rather than a breeder.
