Used Grub for delivery today. Gumbo was a 10 Shrimp and Grits was a 10 Chicken Wings were a 3 I think the wings mushed out during delivery in their styrofoam container, skin was pretty rubbery. Unfortunately having to order from a kiosk really ruined the experience for us. You go in and order your food, and sit & wait silently until someone calls your name and you bring your food to your table. The food tastes pretty good, although you will likely find very little to enjoy here if you don't like very very greasy/oily food (so greasy and oily that the grease manages to soak through styrofoam!!). All of this would be fine if the prices weren't so expensive - the three of us ordering three smaller entrees costed around $70. For that price we really would have liked to have been served by a real person. read more

Upon walking into this nice little diner I was greeting with the most amazing smells of deep southern seasonings. My mouth instantly watered and I asked the wait staff what I was smelling. Must be the "Friday Special" was the response. I promptly ordered it in spite of it being Tuesday. It consists of fried catfish, wings, and shrimp. The kitchen is open, and you can choose to sit at the counter where you can see your food being prepared. The special that day was wings and shrimp (both fried) with coleslaw. The breading is Cathy's own recipe, and it is amazing! Even the coleslaw was some of the best I've had. My husband ordered the po'boy -- yum!! My daughter had pasta and absolutely loved it. I went to Cathy's today and spent $34 on the shrimp and chicken combo which I could have sworn came with fries but I received about 2 tablespoons of cole slaw. I also purchased the red beans and rice and a pop. The food was not fresh. In addition the shrimp and chicken seemed like it may have been prepared in oil that needed to be changed. Also, the only water available was by purchase. I've never had that experience before. I was really disappointed because my sister had told me that this was a great place to eat and we both try to support businesses in our community. I saw the owner and wanted to speak with her but she was already having a tough day because the health inspector was visiting. It wasn't horrible but definitely sub par. I won't be going back. I placed an order over the phone on 3/26/22 and paid $60 something dollars. They stated the order will be ready in 30 min. I arrived before 30 min and picked the order up. Arrived to my sister house she stays in Jennings which is maybe 15 min. We opened up the containers and the salad was loaded with smushy chicken and big leaves that needed to be cut down. Open up my chicken boxes and everything sweated and was wet and mushy from heat been inside the boxes. You would think they would of poked holes in the box to let the excessive heat out. Great food, service and atmosphere. The menu is a little eclectic. It's broken down into St Louis, Memphis and New Orleans. Vast variety from Memphis Gumbo to Pork Nachos and a Slinger to Shrimp n grits. Everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. They had a nice selection of desserts but we did not save room! Myself and a co worker ordered the same thing only difference is, she had fries with hers. The tacos were soft and soggy. The taste was just not appealing to my taste buds. Great service and tasty food! So many choices...might be too many for some, but it's organized well so it's easy to read. I was pleased with the gumbo because it wasn't super spicy. As promised I'm back to give my review after finally trying food from Cathy's Kitchen.....welp I'm not impressed at all and the food is mediocre at best. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and it was delivered by GrubHub. I took a couple of bites and noticed it was rather greasy and opted to not eat it because it was getting late and I didn't want grease sitting on my stomach while I slept. Next day I heated the dish up on the stove top (I never heat my food in the microwave) and as it cooked grease started to pool around the skillet. I poured the grease off and was astonished to see I poured off a 1/2 cup of grease. Why do you need so much grease to cook the pasta??? I gave it a galant effort but Cathy's Kitchen is not my cup of tea, but I wish then all the best. read more

Finally found the Best Shrimp & Grits in town! I'm sure everyone else will agree with me on this. My coworker insisted on me trying this spot bc I'm always trying new foods at various places. We stopped at Cathy's for lunch while in Ferguson for a meeting. What a find! There was ample parking behind the building. We were greeting by the friendly staff immediately upon entering. I love that the menu is inspired by their travels across the US. For my lunch, I just had to order the new catfish platter. I had noticed Cajun fries on the menu and asked if they came with the catfish. They did not, but the server offered to have them put some Cajun seasoning on the fries for me. Now, being a southerner I am very picky on my catfish...it's often way over fried and dry. Cathy's catfish is simply amazing. This is seriously the best fried catfish I've had while living in St. Louis. The breading was cornmeal based just like back home and was not too heavy. It had a great flavor with a hint of spiciness. Crispy on the outside while moist and flaky on the inside. Perfect! The fries were also a hit with the added Cajun seasoning. The plate was loaded so full of tasty catfish pieces that I had to get a To Go box. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Overall a fantastic experience. You will notice that there is a wall of photos in the back of all the celebrities that have stopped in for a bite...it's clear why after eating there. I love a shrimp poboy and this place has it. We also got the Memphis Gumbo and some fried bbq corn on the cob. The corn was like candy that was caramelized and had just that right amount of spice to it and the little kernels popped between your teeth like boba - delightful! The sandwich was beautiful. It looks like the pictures! It's an edible work of art that has a perfect crispiness to the breading and sits on a fresh bed of veggies on a sweet toasted roll. My only problem was trying to take the first bite, because this is not a sandwich for those that demure from wearing a little dressing in their mustache - my mustache lost and I couldn't be happier about it. We also got the Memphis Gumbo, which has shrimp (big ones), scallops, turkey, sausage, and comes as a picturesque, serene cove of spices and flavors around an island of rice. I don't eat meat, but I did give this a go, because it was irresistible - and it was worth it. Speaking of, if you are a vegetarian or vegan, there is a respectable menu to chose from that is specifically vegetarian and vegan - try the jambalaya. This is a cute diner in a great location, with plenty of parking. The staff clearly like the place. The folks there were genuinely excited to have customers that hadn't been there before and knew their menu very well and were happy to help me make some difficult decisions. I love it! Cathys is GREAT! They are close, and have a good menu! The kitchen team is always willing to deal with our substitutions to their Cajun Seafood Mac n' cheese (seafood allergy so they sub with delicious chicken for us!) and staff is always friendly. We always end up very full, and very satisfied. If you're looking for "healthy" food, this place ain't it, there's a decent amount of oil (and love!) in every serving. But if you are trying to have some comfort and a full belly - you have to stop by! read more
