For a price that usually only buys a simple sandwich combo elsewhere, you get an absolute feast. Food Breakdown * The Meats: The platter comes stacked with a juicy smoked sausage link, a tender slab of ribs with excellent bark, a deeply flavorful piece of chicken, and a perfectly assembled BBQ brisket slider. * The Sides: The classic, creamy baked mac and cheese is topped with a rich dusting of seasoning, and it pairs perfectly with a massive, golden-brown slice of sweet cornbread. * The Extras: The deep-fried Cue balls are a stellar crispy addition, giving an incredible texture contrast to the rest of the meal. Recommend these tasty little treats. The Vibe & Verdict Everything looks beautifully smoked, seasoned to perfection, and served in an authentic, no-nonsense bar atmosphere. Finding this quality of slow-smoked barbecue alongside an entire lineup of scratch-made sides for $20 is a total steal. If you are looking for top-tier comfort food that will completely fill you up without breaking the bank, this spot is a mandatory visit. Only thing is I wish food was a little more moist and they had TVs to watch some sports. Other than that, hands down most bang for your buck at this BBQ Joint! Oh, and they offer a military discount and the servers are extremely attentive of your every need!

This a kinda local place for me and we visit maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Sometimes breakfast,…read moresometimes lunch. Today was breakfast. I really think breakfast is my favorite here. As for our meals, the wifey had a sausage omelette and I had bacon omelette. Both omelettes were filled with meats but maybe slightly light on the cheese. But even with that said it was very good. The potatoes and the Texas toast were also very good. As for the size of the meal - both of us left feeling full and that we got our money worth. A good decent meal. Our server was very sweet and attentive and took good care of us. I will say this as well. Our meals came out very quickly. And the place was not overly full, but had a decent amount of customers inside and despite that I wanna say from the time I ordered to the time it was on my table was less than 10 minutes. Very well done. I give this a solid 4 maybe even 4.5 if that was a choice. So if you're just passing through or heading to or leaving Virginia Beach/Outer Banks or a truck driver stopping in from across the street gas stations, I think you'll find that you'll get a very decent meal here . Stop on in.

I wanted to check this place out because I grew up in SC which is known for its mustard based BBQ…read more I tried both of the sauces (one milder but still with a kick, and a spicy one), and I enjoyed the milder one. I liked the laid back atmosphere. Nothing fancy just like a BBQ joint should be. The pulled pork sandwich I would rate as a 3.5, the potato salad was one of the best I have ever had and would give it a 5, but the baked beans had a strong and odd flavor that turned out to be cinnamon which I had never had in baked beans. At least not to where it dominated the flavor. The beans were a 2 and the service was a 4. Waitress was sweet but extremely quiet. The restroom had soap but no paper towels so that isn't good. I will certainly be back but will not order the beans again. But that damn potato salad is another story!

Like his namesake, Pepe Lepew, that tantalizing smell from the smokers hit me nearly a block down the street. From the little history on the menu, that was one of the reason's LePough started his barbeque stand when he was stationed at Fort Lee- there were a number of restaurants that called themselves barbeque but didn't have smokers working right outside. They either barbequed their items off location or didn't do "true barbeque". Very casual ramshackle joint, but it could easily fit large groups as I imagine them to have on the weekends. Knew I had to go to a graduation dinner, so I just ordered 3 bones of pork ribs and a container of collard greens. The ribs smelled so good I had to try one right away! Succulent, moist, and falling off the bone! Best ribs I've had in awhile! Total for my snack- $10, very reasonable. LePough's specializes in the Carolina mustard barbeque sauce, but I believe you can ask for a tomato-based one instead. You don't need much, the barbeque is pretty flavorful by itself. Can't wait to go back and try more of his offerings the next time I'm in the Fort Lee area. Definitely repeat and recommend!

Again - Well worth the wait. I have to emphasize that because at first glance, there doesn't look like much. There's one buffet stand with a small salad stand at the end, a carving station, and one dessert stand tucked in the corner. I consider myself quite the connoisseur of down home Virginia cooking, and it can be hard to find a place that gets it right, but Nanny's knocks it out of the park. The parking lot isn't jumping for nothing! A lot of the reviews mention the items available in detail, and the menu rotates a little, so I'm going to stick to the highlights. Navy bean soup - outstanding and very soppable. String beans - perfectly cooked. Mashed potatoes topped with some hamburger steak and gravy - homemade and melt in your mouth. Crispy crunchy moist fried chicken. Seasoned and tender greens. All the BBQ offerings - traditional and flavorful without doing too much. The desserts? Fresh out of your gramma's kitchen. I did almost take off a star because the banana pudding didn't have any whip or meringue on top, but everything was so outstanding I'll let it slide :) The price is, I think, more than fair for the quality of the food. They also never let anything run out for too long and fresh supply was in and out of the kitchen regularly. Top that off with friendly faces, quick service, and an atmosphere that's more like being at a family reunion than a restaurant, and you've got one heck of a spot for good eating!

Stopped by for the lunch buffet on a weekday. Buffet ran about $15 and we found it to be worth…read moreevery penny. First trip to the buffet, I tried the fried chicken (skin was a little too salty for me, but the meat itself was juicy and delicious), the hushpuppies (so crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside: delicious!), mashed potatoes with hamburger steak and gravy (soooooooooo good!!!), cabbage (good), Mac n cheese (soooooo cheesy and delicious. I could feel my arteries clogging, but that's how you know it is good), chopped bbq (tasty, but I would have loved a different bbq sauce, theirs is a little too vinegar heavy for my personal preference), and a sausage (soooooo good! I could have eaten about 50 of them!). Also had some potato salad and Cole slaw on the side that were both straight out of my childhood in Georgia. My second trip to the buffet, I had to get more mashed potatoes and hamburger with gravy, Mac n cheese, and hush puppies because they were awesome. Added some chicken and dumplings (yum!), corn (sooooooo great mixed with the mashed potatoes), as well as the peach cobbler (I wish the peaches were chopped smaller so they weren't so hard to swallow), apple cobbler (pretty good), and banana pudding (amazing!!!) I wish I had room for a cup of their ice cream, it was all those little cups but they had a bunch of flavors like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and COFFEE! I'll save some space next time. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and the decor looks like every barbecue restaurant I've ever been in with pig decor everywhere. I really like that They used more spices than just salt. This is one of the very few buffets I've ever been to that. It was not just overwhelmingly salty I also really liked their waiting room for when the restaurant gets too crowded and you have to get put on a list. There was so much seating that I would not have been annoyed standing around waiting for my table. We did not have to this time, because we were seated immediately, but it's good to know that you have options if you're ever here during a really crowded time of day. I will say that the temperature was a little too warm for my likings, so even though a lot of the clientele of a certain age shall we say were very comfortable, we ended up sweating and feeling a bit nauseated by the time it was time to go because it was just so hot. Definitely going sleeveless clothes next time I come here. I cannot wait to come back and demolish their buffet again. It was all so good.

The stuff that my waist line thanks me for not cooking, if you know what I mean... I opted for the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese, brother chose the pork chop special with mashed potatoes and pickled cukes and onions. The mains were amazing. The pork chop was huge and thick and delicious, the country fried steak was so good, the gravy on both was delicious. The price was a steal. They were both amazing. The mashed potatoes were also both delicious, definitely homemade and not from a box. The baked Mac and cheese was just okay. It tasted like normal homemade Mac and cheese, nothing particularly special, but then I feel like baking it always just dries it out and sort of breaks the cheese sauce, so I would definitely skip that next time in favor of something else. The cukes were also just okay, we got it to feel like we were trying a healthier option, but will probably just splurge for something else next time. We were a little disappointed though, I do understand that this is a local restaurant and some things are harder to get and keep on the menu and keep in stock, especially if you don't want waste, but we initially tried to order corn cakes but they were out, then rolls but they were out, then went with biscuits. Then brother got the last pork chop plate. They have been out of pickle fries for "awhile now". If you aren't particularly picky about what you want to order, cool. I only particularly like cornbread/corncakes, so I was pretty bummed. The people are super friendly though, and a lot of locals seem to come by for their hotdogs (like, a LOT. Clearly we are missing something not ordering the dogs.) I'll definitely be back on days that I had a really healthy breakfast and plan on breaking my healthy streak with something fried and covered in gravy.
