SERIOUSLY LEGIT 'QUE HERE FOLKS! Wanted a little barbeque and collard greens. After a Yelp search, Le'Poughs fit the bill. Like his namesake, Pepe Lepew, that tantalizing smell from the smokers hit me nearly a block down the street. From the little history on the menu, that was one of the reason's LePough started his barbeque stand when he was stationed at Fort Lee- there were a number of restaurants that called themselves barbeque but didn't have smokers working right outside. They either barbequed their items off location or didn't do "true barbeque". Very casual ramshackle joint, but it could easily fit large groups as I imagine them to have on the weekends. Knew I had to go to a graduation dinner, so I just ordered 3 bones of pork ribs and a container of collard greens. The ribs smelled so good I had to try one right away! Succulent, moist, and falling off the bone! Best ribs I've had in awhile! Total for my snack- $10, very reasonable. LePough's specializes in the Carolina mustard barbeque sauce, but I believe you can ask for a tomato-based one instead. You don't need much, the barbeque is pretty flavorful by itself. Can't wait to go back and try more of his offerings the next time I'm in the Fort Lee area. Definitely repeat and recommend! read more

Just plain nasty! Ordered a burger and it was obviously frozen patties that were put on the grill frozen and over cooked. The double burger tasted like something you would get in an inner city school cafeteria. Also the patties were freezer burnt! A gas station hot dog would have been better! And cheaper! read more

the food here was absolutely delicious. I had one of those sandwiches that had sausage and pulled pork on it if I can remember it correctly. I also had a side of their baked beans and macaroni and cheese. These were absolutely delicious. The beans had a very unique taste to them not like anything I've ever had before. If I could replicate it at home I would. They reminded me of having a taste so much like the spice from apple pie. I can't tell if it's cinnamon or nutmeg or cloves or something like that but it reminded me of apple pie and it was amazing. service was a little slow and we were the only people in the restaurant at lunch. A very strange arrangement where the girl at the counter takes your money but is not allowed to bring you change. By the time we left, about a half hour after we got there, I was still waiting for some change and in the end I just left without waiting for her to bring it to me because apparently she had to see the guy in the back of the store, I assume the chef or owner, for him to use the register. Seems like you need to hire employees that you trust to run the front of the house including the money. read more

We stopped here coming from DC on the way home because of the Yelp reviews. We are so glad we did. We ordered the platter of 4 meats and 2 veggies. We ordered double ribs, brisket, and pulled BBQ. If you don't say sauce on the side it comes with yellow mustard based sauce. I didn't think I would like it but it really was good. The ribs fell off the bones and the pulled pork was awesome. For our sides we got baked mac & cheese and collard greens. The mac & cheese was the bona fide homemade kind. Yum! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the service was a little slow. The wait wasn't too bad but it isn't fast food so if you are in a real hurry to get up or down 95 just be warned. Well worth the time though! read more

This bbq is fantastic. They actually use enough smoke to add flavor, which is rare in VA, or at least NOVA. Had the ribs and pork. Both were very good. They were out of brisket, but I appreciate that they would rather be out than serve me bbq that's been sitting forever. They only use mustard sauce, and will put it on your food if you don't tell them not to. The bbq didn't need sauce anyway, but I like mustard sauce and there's is great, so it was a bonus for me. The sides were ok. The greens were done right, but with less vinegar than I prefer and the mac & cheese needed more cheese. So I could literally drink the bbq sauce here, it is that good. It's yellow, mustard based, so if you're one of those vinegar lovers...give it a chance anyway. We are all entitled to our bbq sauce preferences. If you like a lot of sauce like me, then I recommend you ask for extra on the side. You can see the smoke billowing from a mile away so you know it's legit. My ribs were not "falling off the bone" and I had to work pretty hard (read: needed to floss immediately afterwards) to eat those ribs, but the flavor was good. My fiance's pulled pork was well prepared. The table next to mine had to send their chicken back because, to quote them, it was literally frozen on the inside. I'm going to give a pass on that one since it wasn't my food...but still, worrisome. The food doesn't come out fast so be patient. I really think it was an off day for them because the service was terrible! The girl who took our order must have been new because she was a mess. She forgot half of what we ordered, then she had to come back and ask what was ordered, and then after waiting a while for the missing part of our order, my fiance got up to tell her again that he was still missing a side, she got confused and brought out something else? I wanted to check this place out because I grew up in SC which is known for its mustard based BBQ. I tried both of the sauces (one milder but still with a kick, and a spicy one), and I enjoyed the milder one. I liked the laid back atmosphere. Nothing fancy just like a BBQ joint should be. The pulled pork sandwich I would rate as a 3.5, the potato salad was one of the best I have ever had and would give it a 5, but the baked beans had a strong and odd flavor that turned out to be cinnamon which I had never had in baked beans. At least not to where it dominated the flavor. The beans were a 2 and the service was a 4. Waitress was sweet but extremely quiet. The restroom had soap but no paper towels so that isn't good. I will certainly be back but will not order the beans again. But that damn potato salad is another story! read more

DELICIOUS. Had a hankerin' for some bbq, did a yelp search. Decided on this place. Got a lb of brisket and pulled pork, and sides of collards, onion rings, potato salad, and baked beans. Also got extra sauce, both the mustard and tomato based. Brisket, OMG, double OMG. So good! That smokiness. First bite had me saying dear lord Jesus! Pulled pork was a close second, so much yum. Btw, have seen a few posts that mentioned fatty bits as negatives. I LOVE FATTY BITS! Mixed in with the best cuts of meat, moistness and flavor, yes please! Sides were good. Collards hit the spot, not the best I've ever had, but much better than most! Onion rings are great! Potato salad and beans have a tasty uniqueness to them. Still a sucker for a tomato based sauce; enjoyed the mustard based much more than I thought I would. I'm a dipper and the side of tomato was 2/3's gone, mustard was 1/2 gone, so... both good. I love BBQ. I'm from Alabama where we love our BBQ and this brothers and sisters is some of the best BBQ I've ever had outside of the mother land. There's nothing in GA, Or North Carolina east or west that I've had that can hold its on to this little whole in the wall. I had the "John Coffee" a sandwich with pork, a hot link and slaw. I had them make mine with pulled chicken. It was the bomb and the sauce was a must and based with a little kick. It was so good I ordered a second. Be sure and call ahead because Yelp said they closed at 7 and they were closing at 5 also they said they were going to be closed the rest of the weekend. As the bbq fan that I am, I'm on a mission to try all the bbq joints in town. I didn't even notice this spot, and only tried something from here because a friend of the family suggested this spot. my husband brought me back the lunch special - pulled pork sandwich with fries. I didn't even need the fries because I am always about the sandwich! And it was a great one. The sauce they use, I belive it's a Carolina bbq since it had a kick to it and was yellow-orangish was just right, although I would have like something less "spicy." It really was a good sandwich and the fries, while good, only distracted me from what truly mattered. My husband had the ribs which were covered in the same sauce. It was too much for him to handle, as he ended up scraping it off. So a heads up for you all, if they ask you whether you want sauce on your meal, double check what type of sauce it is! Le'Pough's was chosen to cater our event this year,the presentation of the food was so disappointing. Le'Pough's arrived to the event late and the meats: chicken,ribs and hot dogs were all burnt to a crisp. My husband a chef for over 30 years also said it was burnt . Even when a 4 year old say it's burnt it's burnt! I give Le'Pough's some credit the sides: potato salad,cold slaw and of course the pulled pork was okay but the main course the meat was not good and tasted like lighter fluid. I could not believe he brought burnt meat to the event. This was the second time we used his services and was disappointed both times. Will not ever use Le'Pough again. read more

This guy... This guy... He has a roaring business on Fort Lee. How couldn't he the smell pulls you in from across the parking lot. Now he has a restaurant location. But he toys with you. He plays the game of 'smell it, want it'? "No Q for YOU! Closed!" I have had the food several times. I can say the rids and bbq are just great. We loved it. The potato salad was a side as was the cole slaw. But good lord the ribs. Every sad little boy eating at Chilis is thinking they are getting something special like this. They are so so good. My sister gave a family party/reunion using many of Le'Poughs items....BBQ, Cabbage, Beans, Mac and Cheese and side of BBQ Sauce...It was the best food at the reunion...I came away with some of the bottled sauce and literally almost drank it...I looked for things to put it on...spicy...OH MY.......I usually don't like baked beans but these were the best I had ever tried with a little kick....The pulled pork....If you don't try anything else try the pulled pork...Have already gotten take out twice(in 10 days) You must try if you haven't...great food, and staff.. read more

The pulled pork was FANTASTIC! This would have been a 5-star review except it took 2 trips to finally experience it. On a Friday evening, I arrived at 5:45pm, (well before the stated closing time of 7:00pm). I sat down to order and told they were out of sweet tea as well as multiple sides, including french fries and hushpuppies!! I decided I didn't want to settle, so I left and came back two days later for lunch. I entered at 2:00pm, sat down, and was told they were out of hushpuppies. On a SUNDAY. At 2:00pm!!
