They hold your money for days until its usable even when it says your balance is available. Their ATM always does this. The service is trash, only the security was very nice, they still are holding my 1300$ for a full day now. I've called them and "Scott" said it was perfectly fine and was nice about it. But when we came in to the bank, they told us to wait until afternoon or night. Idk, but you got some problems and you should fix it. Zero stars if possible thos happens so many times. read more

Dont waste your time to do loan here It s just waste your time and delay you to buy your home. I provided them documents and they keep asking same stuff over and over. Not only my personal stuff information escrow company had same problem that they provided them all documents and they asked same things 2 to 3 x . I dont know any one had any bad experiences like me but they so annoying. Every time they have a different loan officer or under writer works on my file. They said they had all my documents that they needed so they send under writer to review then new under writer asked my old stuff that i provided 2 weeks ago. They said the first loan offer or under writer dont have my information from the first person that i provided. They dont want to communicate each other and keep my stuff they enjoy to bother you I guess. They just acted/ asked like they never did it before. And, i had to drop my case with them. Her name is Kathy. She is very dangerous. She make a Fake checks by check of Cathay customer , and she wrote Customer drive license ,Date of Birth, account number on fake check. and she auto authorization and cash out Customer money without approval. On 27 Nov 2019, She withdraw $500 my bank account (see attach below) Without my permission . When I found out . I come the bank report fault . She saw me. She try to void her mistakes . On 3/7/17, I called the Cathay branch in Santa Ana asking for all of the conditions for opening a business checking account. I spoke to Eva who was very useful. I was told there should be no restrictions in opening the account. I appear that my terrible experience with the Bolsa office was not representative of Cathay Bank. It is so sad to see that fellow Vietnamese can not treat each other well. Very disappointing. read more

2 stars for the bank teller that helped me at the counter. Very nice and helpful. But not more than that for what I believe is bad services from others staffs there. Most likely supervisor or so status (all females) all sitting in the back acting busy as I sat for 15 minutes right in front of all of them waiting to get help from someone referred by the teller. Not sure how this is possible when there was no one else waiting besides me. I have an acct that I rarely use but wanted to start using so wanted to reset my pin for the atm card, but after waiting that reminded me why I don't bank with them so I just walk out. These supervisor/managers needs to take customer services more seriously as our world are now surrounded by good services. read more

I have had bank accounts at all the big name branches (Chase, Wells and BofA), but never considered Cathay because it wasn't too popular. I only considered Cathay when I heard from a friend that they gave some percentage of return for even checking accounts. Most banks charge a fee or require some sort of auto pay to hold my money, but this bank was willing to pay me? I went into the bank and was greeted by 2 different people. One of them came up to me and asked what I needed help with. I told them I was interested in opening an account. He seated me right away because there wasn't a wait and helped me open up an account. As he was working on my account, he mentioned information about their loans and CDs, but didn't push it on me. I told him I was only interested in a checking account at the time, but would consider Cathay Bank if loans or CDs were ever needed, so he gave me his card and continued on my account. He was very professional, friendly and efficient. Now I don't get a lot of interest for keeping my money at Cathay, but some is better than none or having to pay the bank to keep my money. A year later, I started to look into CDs. I wanted to get a competitive percentage, so I did some shopping. I looked at some of the big name branches again as well as Cathay and saw that Cathay offered a WAY better percentage than any of the other banks (not sure about the actually number, but I think it was like 1% vs. 0.1%). I decided to go with Cathay. I called the guy who helped me before (the card said he was the bank manager, so I trusted him) and he went above and beyond my expectations and actually came to my residence to help set up my CD. Yes! He drove to my house with all the paper work and set up the account. I have been with Cathay for only a few years, but the service I have received will definitely keep me there. read more

Thank you...thank you...thank you...I am very please that Jimmy Nguyen "Customer Service & Sales Manager" contact me right away that I notice someone trying to use my personal information for Identity Theft. Without them I think my life will be nightmare...thank you so much. Jimmy told me that someone came in with my driver license with his picture image on it and attempt to open a business account. Once I notice by Jimmy Nguyen, bank sales manager, I go and check my credit report right away. This "ID Theft" person have been open many accounts and get away 2015 brand new car. I believe 2 cars and other such as, At&t, JCpenny, loanme inc, 700 credit auto dealer, huyndai headquarter dealer, verizon, capital one (6 attempt), discover..oh mine...I can go on and on just within 14 days that "ID Theft" person got my information. I don't know what happen if the bank did not call me and from time month to month or even year to year..my life will be mess up..probably it will take me years to clear my credit and name...Big Thank you Cathay bank....5 stars is a must have.... read more
