The Market is picturesque with lovely flower carts by the entrances. Historically, Covent Gardens were the gardens for the convent. Today, the beautiful enclosed market hosts various vendors that change regularly. The market is a great way to connect with locals. We went to the market four times during our visit. On Sundays, various art vendors set up and we visited with a local fossil dealer and purchased a couple fossils. We loved our dinner in one of the nearby cafes. On Mondays, antique dealers set up and sell various treasures. My husband bought me a vintage bracelet. We also watched a quintet play in the atrium. We found a few reasonably priced souvenirs to take home for gifts. Plenty of great restaurants surround the Market. We ate at several places and enjoyed our meals. The Market always seems to be new and people were friendly.

The Moomins shop is a hidden gem that can be found in Covent Garden. People tend to miss this shop…read moreas they are too busy dashing around, watching the amazing array of street entertainment going on or looking at the shops on the ground floor. Moomins shop is you see not based on the ground floor so easily missed as in fact to get to it you have to go through a door and then up some narrow wooden stairs so easily missed. When you do get up the narrow stairs you will enter the treasure trove of Moomin heaven full of merchandise on the adorable eccentric characters. The shop is quite small and tight to get around especially when there is a lot of people in the shop but it is worth it, especially if you love the Moomins (hippos) as much as I do. The shop is like a little treasure trove full of Moomin goodies such as towels, toilet bags, aprons, cookie cutters, snowglobes, soft toys, games, magnets, DVDs etc. and of course books in how they originally came about. The whole shop leaves your head spinning "ooh should I get that, should I get this" I guarantee you will not walk out of that shop without purchasing something even if it's a magnet for your fridge. So take the steps up those hidden wooden stairs that is hidden amongst the shops of Covent Garden and seek your beloved Moomin merchandise to take home. This shop I believe is the only Moomin shop in England but don't fear if you don't live in or near London you can buy merchandise on these adorable characters online. Here is some facts about the adorable Moomins and friends if you are not familiar with what they are. They look a bit like a hippopotamus but they are white. The Moomins also have many friends that are not hippos but fictional characters from Hemulens, Sniff, the Snork Maiden, Snufkin to Little May. I especially love Moomintroll the little boy of the family he is so funny and so mischievous. Moomins originally came from books that where created around the 1940s in Sweden. From the books after their popularity they also started to appear in comic strips, TV and even a film was made. In fact the Moomins are so big that there is even in fact a theme park called Moomin World in Finland. I have posted a map picture on here to help find the adorable shop full of lovely Moomin merchandise.

For any one of my friends traveling into London I always recommend veering off a little to Carnaby. Over the years some shops have come and go but some of my favorites remain open. I'm a huge Great Frog lover and their shop is nearby, also for us rock n rollers I can't help stopping into The Rolling Stones Uk store. Lots of major branded stores but also cute local vendors and stores. It's a very walkable street and safe. Plenty busy so come earlier in the day to beat the crowds. Another pro tip is catching a reservation at dishshoom down here as I've found it easier to snag a reservation here than at their other locations. Plenty of dining options though and local stalls like Starbucks and Joe & the juice. It's a touristy street of shops but I love it - definitely bookmark this area on your must shop / see list when on this side of town.

They have a good selection of hats (caps, Berets, wide brims, bowlers), T-shirts, hoodies, and stuffed animals among things. Their basement also sells roller luggage. Another funny thing I saw was they had a security guard downstairs, but originally I thought he was a cardboard cutout from a distance since he was standing motionless next to a poster of someone wearing the exact same uniform. I had to do a double take but thought it was a cool trick to blend into the surroundings like that. I bought about $50£ worth of stuff - would make good souvenirs or random last-minute Christmas gifts.
