Charlie's rock shop might rock your world (ehem...sorry.)…read more Charlie (at least I assume the bloke behind the till was *the* Charlie) was happy and friendly even though we wandered in on a horrible rainy day. My friend wanted to come here because she bought her favourite pair of earrings here yeears ago...so we came in for a bit of a mooch. This place is full of interesting jewellery- some of it was gorgeous/ some of it was not really to my taste. BUT Jewellery is always a very personal thing to choose - so maybe other yelpers'd like the things I cringed at. There was also a large selection of different minerals and gemstones for sale...so this place would make any collector of stones happy. I bought a couple of pairs of pearl earrings with Stirling silver backs (for £6 each!!) and left very happy.

I love a visit to Charlie's Rock shop. Unfortunately for Charlie and his crew I don't buy much and…read morewhen I do I don't spend much, but hopefully this honest assessment of why this is one of the best shops in the local area will go some way to redress the balance of the joy I receive from a visit and Charlie's profit line. This shop will show you some beautiful geology. They have items from £2 to £200 of sheer beauty. Gorgeous necklaces, rings and other jewellery is available. This is a great place to buy rocks to make jewellery with. I have taken a few friends here to Charlie's Rock shop. They have always bought something and loved the store. A fair few have returned without me. So I have done something good apart from this review Charlie!!!

I have to say, I'm not sure what the shop was like before, but it really is a fab little gem of a boutique so she must have done a sterling job. Located on the trendy Bedford Hill, Bunka has a wonderful range of clothes, accessories, home wares and gifts. You can pick up some popular designer brands in addition to a selection of lesser known boutique designers. Everything is quite expensive but I spotted some beautiful fairy lights either in black, pink or gold for £16 which I thought was very reasonable. It always seems to be busy in here and has a great atmosphere with staff who are very friendly and helpful. The shop is quite small but that is what makes boutiques so unique and this one really has an amazing selection of lifestyle and fashion goods. Balham has done very well indeed to score this gem of a shop!

The stuff inside is of a markedly varied quality, some horribly overpriced and some terribly badly chosen. The womens clothing is horrid and I have no idea who buys this stuff. Also, I must say that it's not my sort of shop anyway, but why can't these places make some sort of concession to men? The menswear on offer is massively over-priced and aimed at the gullible market. Oliver Bonas does this sort of thing much better and makes the whole experience terribly worthwhile. I can browse the silly toys whilst my other half looks at jewellery and dresses. But this place just feels so stuffy and over-preening that it made me need to leave very quickly. Also an unfriendly over-intrusive man badgering me was a big no-no. If you need shops like this try Oliver Bonas or the lovely gift shop over the road. Avoid it

Marvelous, marvelous, marvelous!…read more I've recently gotten really into windowsill gardening and have been filling all available spaces with tiny green loveliness. I was looking for a good garden shop that offered real variety (unlike the chain stores which seem to offer not much and a lot of it), and learned about Neal's. I'm so glad I did. While it is awkwardly located just across from a prison, the place is just great. Pots galore; a beautiful selection of bedding plants and other outdoor selections; and a great indoor shop featuring a greenhouse of houseplants, a wealth of garden tools, indoor pots and planters, and gifts for gardeners. While I've come to expect independent shops to be a touch more expensive than the chain stores (and am ok with this as I like supporting the little guy), I was pleasantly surprised at the super reasonable pricing at Neal's! I ended up bringing home more and larger plants than I would have anywhere else as they were so well priced. I kept going on about this to my husband, who very kindly didn't say too much as I added plant after plant to our basket! Definitely a place I'll be visiting on a semi-regular basis!

Pots! Freaking LOADS of pots!…read more That's what greats you as you enter Neal's Nurseries. It's a pot fest. Little ones, round ones, glass ones, square ones, silver ones... You get the picture. If you want something to put your plant's in that isn't the ground, you'll do well here. So, that's your pots sorted. Inside you've got your regular garden centre type stuff - a good selection of tools, seeds, other ...err...things you need for your garden. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and are happy to offer up advice - but don't expect help to come to you - you gotta go and seek help on your garden related conundrums. It's in a bit of a weird location though - right opposite Wandsworth Prison. Not sure if that matters, but it's probably best to avoid picking up a spade when you hear about an escape on the news.
