When I've been to London and Paris with my daughter we always hit the handbag stores. There's something about buying handbags in Europe that makes us feel like we are getting a better deal! My Orla Kiely handbag is laminated for use when it rains. I love the bright cheerful color and the zipper inside pocket plus key fob. The print on my bag is her signature design. I highly recommend this designer's handbags. I love mine. I can't wait until Spring and Summer when I wear my bright colors. Although I use this bag any time of year. During Orla Kiely's "free wallet weekend" I ordered a purse for myself and two bags as gifts. The free wallets I selected disappeared when I checked out. This happened twice. When I reached out to customer service they were not helpful and would not correct the problem. The bags are lovely, but the customer service is terrible. read more

Very popular with the ladies........ I'm not adverse to a bit of shopping. I'm a sensitive guy. And Orla Kiely is an often safe bet when buying for my opposite sex. It has a strong calm sense of design often revolving around her leaf motif. Deco meets a kind of northern European 60's minimalism. Great relaxed staff make the experience an added pleasure. I agree with Laura N on this...I would love to live in a world full of prints like this shop! I don't think I could live in this actual shop (it's too close to Hotel chocolat, so I'd be too tempted to sit around on pretty soft furnishings eating yummy chocy!) ...but I digress. In fact, I have started to fill my world with Orla's pretty prints. I tried to buy an Orla Kiely duvet cover (a couple of times) in Heals, but they failed me, so I called this shop to check they had my duvet, and walked down to pick it up. Easy peasy. Once I'd stepped through the door I had to imagine pony-style blinkers to block my view! Everything is so cute! I now covert the cute poppy meadow teapot, and the radio (not that I'd ever spend £150 on a radio!!) ...I may have inadvertently also bought a tea cup covered in pears...it was calling to me to take it home. Honest!! I didn't have any problems with the staff like Vicky L did! I popped in a few minutes before they closed, and the lady by the till was really sweet and chatty. read more

This brand is so popular in Japan for some reason and I thought it'll be the perfect place to get my Japanese colleague her wedding gift. The shop is super cute with its logo of leaves decorated all over including the ceiling. The shop lady was super helpful recommending me the right gifts for my budget. I went for its classic logo towel for the pair which came to £30. They have a lot of kitchen ware as well including pots, cups to bags and even toiletry, so plenty to choose from! I can't believe I didn't already write a review for Orla Kiely's flagship store in London. As an American on holiday, I go nuts when I find something I can't find easily in the States and I just about lost my mind when I was at Orla Kiely. (I already own one of her leaf-print vinyl wallets and, literally almost every time I'm shopping, someone remarks that they love it! Yes, her stuff is that awesome.) Orla Kiely is a MUST (!!!) if you love fashion / mod / Scandinavian-style design / textiles. Seriously. If you love whimsical prints, COLOR, and vintage-inspired styling, this is the place to shop. Not only can you buy her clothes, wallpaper, and bags here, you can find stuff like Orla Kiely fabric covered couches. So stunning. Prices are definitely not for the cash-strapped, however, I still regret not buying a tote and dress while I was there. Orla Kiely just opened up a store in New York City (USA) and I'm honestly considering flying there just to see it. (yeah, they have an online shop, but it's totally not the same..haha.) read more

Really cute designs, really eye catching and memorable, I really like this store though it is a little pricey. I always have a little rootle through the sale rack to see if I can spot any bargains! The bags I am not a massive fan of, but her dresses are really lovely and have attracted the eyes of many a famous person. Expect to pay dearly to look like Ms Moss however. Her patterns are quite samey, bold bright but good. Why not! This store is very inviting and the staff are really helpful. I have never bought anything, but I always pop in. Who knows.. one day. Orla Kiely (which after many years of being a fan, I just found out is pronounced Kylie, not Keeley. The shame!) was the first place I ever bought something designer. Heck, I think it might still be the only place! I had been coveting a handbag in the window for a while, and after a big life change, I decided I needed to have said handbag to commemorate things. That was around 9 years ago now, and I've followed OK's rise to fame, traipsing around to sample sales and trawling through eBay. Now OK stuff is pretty widespread, so it's just not as special to me and I've gone off it a bit. But there was a bag last season that I really liked the print so as I was walking by, I decided to pop in and see if they had any left in the sale. There is an odd layout to the store, with two halves on the first floor that aren't connected - you have to go down to the basement or back outside to get to the other half. So down I went and yes, they had the bag! I was so excited until I picked it up - and the fabric and the quality was completely different. Perhaps it's more durable or there's some good reason, but all I know is that the price is the same as it's always been (accounting for inflation-type price rises) but that it feels, and looks, cheap up close. There were good priced things in the sale, and the staff were really nice, but I sadly left empty handed. read more

I'm visiting London and I learned that there is an Orla Kiely store! The only store in the USA is in NYC. I wanted to stop by. The store is very cute! I wanted to walk away with lots of things but was able to control myself with one handbag that was on sale to replace the current one that I've own for 4-5 years now. It's about time that I retire that bag. The sales person was really helpful. If you don't see what you want in the showroom please as the sales person b/c there is a good chance they will have it in the back room. I love the designs, but the staff was so rude that I can't bring myself to go back. The sales girls followed 3 feet behind us around the _entire_ shop but when we turned around would awkwardly pretend to straighten something and not meet our eyes. Seriously? I wouldn't believe what the other reviewers say about the shop girls being rude. They were so kind and helpful to us, and it wasn't only because we bought something. The shop is split into three parts - two upstairs rooms (one furniture, one household goods) connected by a downstairs room (clothing). There needs to be at least one shop attendant in each room, obviously, as I would consider it rude NOT to have someone there if I wanted something, and then there are one or two more to help with the stock, which is kept downstairs out of sight so that the showrooms are beautiful and inviting and make you want EVERYTHING in them. It's true they need to call out downstairs to get the items from the stock room when you purchase something, but that did not annoy anyone in the shop while we were there. Please don't feel you have to be intimidated by the lovely sweet girls in the Orla Kiely shop. They even told us where to get yummy coffee when we went back to ask for a suggestion (a couple doors down - Monmouth - delish!). We had an enjoyable time in the shop and of course I didn't want to leave, I wanted to live there like any proper Orla fan. Do be sure to stop to enjoy the window display from inside the hall between the upstairs shops! The ceiling and windows make for a fun backdrop for souvenir photos with you and your gigantic Orla Kiely shopping bag (worth buying a vase for!). read more

My mum loves this shop and has been shopping in Orla Kiely for the last 4 or 5 years. She has spent thousands of pounds by now in Orla Kiely and it has become the place she exclusively shops in. However, I was disappointed to hear about her experience today at a sample sale that is temporarily being held in Percy street this month. I leave a review here since Orla Kiely only has 2 stores in London - this covent garden branch being the one my mum shops in most often. She accidentally purchased two of the same top yesterday, while buying a number of items. This mistake cost her £80. When she came back today to return the item, she was refused point blank any kind of return or exchange and was treated quite badly. My mum mentioned her long-term love of Orla Kiely; how she has been shopping there for years; the money she'd spent, but the manager didn't care. She said something along the lines of "women often buy duplicates of the same item, so it's no fault of ours for letting you buy two of the same thing". I don't know whether this incident reflects the arrogance of Orla Kiely as a company; that they are such a cherished brand by women that they can afford to treat customers how they like. Or whether the manager of the shop was simply the type who gets thrills from negative social encounters. (Having some experience working in shops, you do come across staff like this quite often) Either case, my mum left feeling quite hurt and shook from the experience. There's nothing that can be done, and she now has a bitter taste in her mouth about the designer she loves. It may have only been a temporary sample sale but old merchandise was being flogged (one pound entry fee to get in to the shop btw which goes to charity, what a facade). TK Maxx flog old clothes at a reduced price and let you exchange or even return for cash up to a month after! TK Maxx better customer service than Orla Kiely - amazing right? If you are a woman who is reading this and knows how it feels to be screwed over by a shop you've been loyal to for years, or knows how it feels to be refused a return/exchange the next morning, then take heed of this story. You're just a source of money to Orla Kiely, nothing more. read more

So then the penny drops when finally two days later having felt frantic that you cannot get through to anyone, which is disturbing quite frankly. Especially when you have spent 3 days waiting and trying to sort out a simple order you placed. You then get an alarming email reply finally after two days of silence, saying the business is no more! So not only are you left with goods you don't want and have tried to no avail to have sent back as per the arrangements needed from customer service to perform before you can send the goods back ie returns label generated etc etc. You are now left wondering if you will get your refund. Never felt such a loss of trust with a company and such a harrowing experience. Customers should never be ignored or indeed sales put through so close to a closure. In case of problems. Completely unfair to the customer for whom there may be others like me, who are now stuck wondering what on earth is going on and how are they to return goods to OK for their refund. There should have been a notification on the website to tell people of an imminent closure and that there will be someone to deal with any residual needs such as returns/refunds that customers may have who have just recently spent their money and their custom. Or simply notify of a end of sales date with a cut off to ensure the remaining customers can be helped with return,exchange and refunds should a need arise. Don't see why the online shop could not remain and indeed it seems it could be helpful to OK and to Customers. Really liked the coats and had a favourite wallet, brown with dotted leaf logo which I absolutely loved. What a shame as this is what I will remember. Such a horrible experience for a last purchase. read more
