I'm feeling pretty conflicted about this review because my experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag--some aspects were great, and others definitely need attention. Let me start with the positive: The Good: When I first pulled up to the building, I was impressed. The exterior looked nice, the parking lot was clean, and the place was buzzing with activity. There were a lot of cars outside, and there was a line for seating, which let me know this place is pretty popular. Since I was in a bit of a hurry, I asked if I could place an order to-go, and they were more than happy to accommodate. I ordered the catfish dinner, which came with French fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, a warm buttered roll, and even a couple of beignets. The catfish was decent--not the best I've ever had (I've got a pretty high bar for that), but it was tasty enough that I'd go back if I had the chance. The hush puppies were on point, and I appreciate that they didn't skimp on the portions. The inside of the restaurant was decorated with a cute, Ozark-lake theme, which added a charming touch. They also have a small gift shop with reasonably priced, locally made souvenirs, which I thought was a nice bonus. The young lady who took my order was polite, had a sweet smile, and was very friendly--definitely added to the positive experience. The Not-So-Good: Now for the part I don't like writing--the negatives. While I don't like focusing on the bad, there are some things that need to be addressed, particularly the cleanliness. The condition of the bathroom was a letdown, to say the least. There was a disposable toilet seat cover with feces on it lying on the floor, and that was enough to make me do a double take. On top of that, the door handles, doorjambs, and the entryways into the kitchen looked like they hadn't been properly wiped down in a while. There was a vent cover in the men's bathroom that was in rough shape, and, most importantly, there was no soap available to wash your hands. For a busy place like this, you'd think they'd be on top of those things. It wasn't a dealbreaker for me, but it's definitely a concern that needs to be addressed for the sake of cleanliness. Final Thoughts: All in all, the food was decent, the prices were good, and the staff was friendly. The bathroom situation didn't ruin the experience for me, but it's something that definitely needs improvement. I would go back again if I'm in the area, but I hope they address these issues for the sake of future customers. read more

Either you love catfish or youre not the biggest fan. I fall into the latter category but that's OK because they have many other things on their menu. They had a popcorn shrimp special the day I went in so I got that along with fried okra and coleslaw with 2 pieces of catfish because I wanted to try it out atleast. It came with cocktail sauce which is classic pairing for popcorn shrimp. The tartar sauce was OK. The okra was amazing. Seasoned well and very hot. They did have their apple fritters and fresh buns with butter and jam on the table. I went around shift change so they didnt come out often but my server was nice and asked them to come out so I could get more apple fritters so I appreciate her for that. On the other side of the restaurant is a gift shop if youre looking for anything. The fritters were honestly too good. Had to get a dozen to go to snack on. Really good citrusy pop. Ordered the bbq brisket, it was cold, the fries were not hot. Ashlyn was an above average waitress.The biggest concern was the lack of cleanliness, the floor was a disaster, a broom and 5 minutes would work wonders. The girl serving rolls asked my wife when almost finished eating if she wanted a dinner roll , the rest of the time she was visiting with the cashier. I was very disappointed about two weeks ago. I went to have some catfish. The catfish is very small but we're cooked. I was in there back in February and it was really good. First off, shame on all of the fake negative reviews here. After a couple of stops in here, I can attest, if you're a fan of fried catfish like myself, this is a great place to get it. Breading light, fish moist and flaky, never greasy. I will say, they do need more sides options besides just boring fries and coleslaw. Meals also come with apple fritter bites (balls) and the most buttery, soft yeast rolls. Both are delicious. Ask for melted butter on the fritters, thank me later. We stopped in for fresh fruit pies on our latest visit. They are biiig, and cost around $3 each. But taste and quality wise, they were just okay. Very crusty outside, not flaky, tasting only of flour. And their size made them heat unevenly like a Hot Pocket. Lava hot cherry syrup gushed out all over my husband. Meanwhile my half was ice cold in the middle. And the blackberry came only room temp, and sadly had no actual berries in it. My wife did not mind, but the catfish they serve has the brown fat untrimmed which makes the entire fillet taste awful, like dirt. You can't just scrape it off because it fouls the meat up when it's cooked on it. Maybe this is how it's served a lot of places, this is always a disappointing find for me, but places like Boomerang, Freddie's in Sapulpa (when it was open), or Sam's Eatery ALL serve catfish with the brown fat removed. I won't take any more chances again, it's no fun paying for food you can't eat. No one asked me how my meal was or I would have asked for a replacement. Not my waitress or my cashier. The atmosphere is inviting and prices are great for the quality of the food. My girlfriend had the chicken fried steak it was giant and very tender. I had the all you can eat catfish all for 26 bucks. Our service was great I put a hurting on the catfish I had like 16 pieces. So Allie earned her tip. Good service sweet girl. The fritter and roll girls were the best part. The fried catfish had the grey/brown fatty part left on which made the catfish taste dirty. They do cook the fish and the other fried foods in separate fryers, but the oil my wife's chicken fried chicken was cooked in needed to be changed and gave the chicken a burned oil taste. I shoo flys throughout the entire dinner. But if that doesn't stop your quest for good catfish I don't blame you. This place doesn't currently cook good catfish on Sunday evenings. The cajun bread they use on the fish is aweful, needs to compliment the fish not cover the "lake taste" which they still couldn't do. The fried okra is off like so many restaurants. It chews into tough fibers or tastes like okra slime. The mashed potatoes were good. Won't be going back. If you want me back, offer all you can eat catfish that is pan fried large strips with some lemon pepper. That tastes like someone cared about what they were cooking. We stopped while driving to Lake Eufaula. I had heard the rolls and Apple fritters were the same as Applewood's and my intel was correct! I unknowingly ordered the dinner portion and after a couple of bites asked the waitress what seasoning made it so spicy because my lips were tingling and tongue was breaking out.
