I can't say anything negative about this place! My family and I went here this weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. We love the atmosphere, it is like a Florida southern underwater theme. They bring out complimentary green onions and biscuits to your table which is great to much on while you wait for your dinner. I ordered the crab legs and was so surprised with how great they were. They literally just popped right open and the meat slid out with no problem. Also for $20 you get 2 large clusters and a side. When they brought it out without me saying anything the waitress immediately said "we are bringing you another cluster as your 2nd one was a little over cooked". This was such amazing customer service as most places would NEVER do that unless the customer mentioned it first. Also, the manger came by later and asked if I received my 3rd cluster and asked if it was better. A+++ on customer service for Catfish Country! The negative thing I would say about the crab legs is they are not SUPER meaty and a little salty for me. My husband ordered gator bites for an appetizer for us to share and these were seriously the best gator bites I've ever had! They were breaded and seasoned perfectly and were not chewy at all, they almost melted in your mouth! For my husbands entree he got the frog legs. They were very meaty, seasoned great and delicious. We just had our first meal here and we will have many more. We live in Zephryhills and will gladly drive the hour and put up with the traffic. When you first sit down they great you with warm biscuits and Cole slaw for the table. Both were very good! We ordered the Gator Bites appetizer and it was delicious! It came out hot and was very tender. The horseradish dip it came with was very good! I definitely recommend ordering them. I had the calamari with a baked potato. The dish was excellent! The calamari was tender and well cooked. The batter had excellent flavor. The baked potato was very good and the whole meal was hot. You can tell they serve you as soon as the meal is ready. I went into this restaurant just moments ago with a party of nine. They were extremely accommodating and sat us quickly. Our waitress was Maria she was just amazing! Never once did we have to ask for a refill beverage as a matter of fact she knew we needed one before we even knew. She was very accurate, courteous and fast. It's so nice to go into a restaurant these days where the staff all work as a team. Our table was checked on numerous times by multiple staff to ensure that we were having a pleasant experience. Then came the food, oh my lord each and every appetizer, entree, biscuit and coleslaw was top quality and very tasteful! Food was served hot, fresh and with nice presentation. My server was great. The food was full of butter. So so so so much butter. It lacked flavor. I asked for hot sauce and for hot pepper sauce. Never heard of it. The place is nice and organized. I just need flavor in my food - especially fresh seafood. I would try the fried catfish, I just didn't like any of the sides that I tried. The greens tasted like dirt. We came by again on 3/10 to try some catfish. We were seated right away but our waitress not as friendly as the last one we had. We saw her and wish we were in her section. We had the 3 piece catfish basket (10.79) with sweet potato and black beans and yellow rice and the catfish sandwich (10.49) with green beans and black beans and yellow rice. The pieces of catfish on the sandwich were more than the three piece basket, we were a little surprised. The catfish tasted delicious but again the sides of black beans and yellow rice and green beans lacked seasoning. We tried the shallots with some salt but not a fan but did put some in yellow rice. Meh. If your one of those people who love "all you can eat" and love heavily saturated with grease food, you will love this place. We just moved to the area and each time we would pass here the parking lot is JAMMED. We had to try it. Definitely not worth the wait. Looking around you can see why a lot of people like the all you can eat specials and they sure take advantage of that. But for me, a wait time of 30 minutes or more is a no no, unless it is a renowned restaurant, then again, a renowned restaurant would have a reservation availability. Once we were seated, the servers were attentive, actually too attentive, really giving you that feeling that they wanted you in and wanted you out, no time for enjoying the company of guests. We had a group of four. The food was served hot and fresh, I'll say that. 2 people had a fried selection of fish. I had the baked scallops and baked potato. Again, the food was good, not great, but served hot. Service was good, but rushed. Glad we tried it, but it's one and done. No need to return here. read more

I have eaten at Catfish Country several times and it is always a marvelous experience. Some of my favorite items from the menu include the fried gator bites and the Chicken Alfredo. The last time I went to Catfish Country, my server was Toni. She was energetic and friendly and very attentive. A+ server and A+ meal. I'll definitely be back. Although this wasn't either but rather a type of crispy batter. I ordered catfish filets with baked potato and hush puppies. First, you only get ONE hush puppy, lol! They bring you biscuits and coleslaw and oddly enough a glass full of fresh green onions..... Not sure what that's about, maybe a cultural thing? The catfish fillets were made to order for sure. Had a delicious recent visit after 3 year hiatus. The menu has grown to include haddock, basa, salmon, tilapia. We had to get the catfish, they offer a Sunday "early bird" 2 piece for $10.99. (4 piece is $14.99) Prices have gone up but seem to match the times. Complimentary slaw, spring onions, biscuits. People around me got the haddock and grilled tilapia, also looked delicious. Many more landlubber options. Cole slaw is cut finer but still yummy, still serving onions in a mug--today they were mild & edible. No honey on the table for the biscuits. Sides are sorta "meh"-dry garlic potatoes, greasy green beans. It is a "friendzied" place--tables are close together, waitresses are flying, so as an old time fish shack, but not a relaxed meal. I drive by this restaurant every weekend on my way to and from my travel trailer. But since I'm carrying a dog I can't stop. Today I forgot something and went back home to get it, and was dog less when I drove by. This time I decided to stop. This is a cute country restaurant. It is fairly large. What impressed me right away is that they bring you cole slaw and green onions with your silverware. Weird, but delicious. And so are the fresh biscuits they also bring. The house specialty is, of course, catfish. I am not exactly a catfish fan, and was delighted to see many other options. I ordered a broiled combo of chicken, shrimp and scallops. They have all manner of fish, chicken and meats on their menu. We also ordered corn fritters as an appetizer. They were delicious. The fryer works well. And they come accompanied with some sort of marmalade dipping sauce. The entrees were impressive. Very large. Their broiler also works well. I really like this place a lot.
