AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I went in with questions about my Dodge Ram and it not shifting right. They were able to see the…read moreproblem and were able to make the adjustments without having to replace the transmission as another store would. I saved money and now have a place that I can take my truck to if it ever acts up again. The price I paid for the repair was less than the quoted price of replacing the transmission. I appreciate the care I received and will return again.

Our experience with AAMCO Transmission and Total Car Care has been less than satisfying…read more We initially took our 2005 F-150 to them in December to have the transmission replaced -- a $5,500 repair. In February, we had to take it back because it was having issues shifting into overdrive. They told us it needed a new solenoid motor -- another $560 out of pocket. Two weeks later, the dashboard lit up with transmission fault errors, sending us back to AAMCO for a third visit. They kept the truck for almost a month and ended up replacing the transmission again under warranty. When they finally called to tell us it was ready, they casually mentioned that the truck was overheating -- and even asked us if it had any overheating problems before bringing it to them (it absolutely did not). They told us we "wouldn't make it very far" with it overheating like it was -- but at that point, after waiting weeks already, my husband told them he would pick it up and handle it himself. It took us two hours to get it home because we had to stop every few miles to let it cool down. Once we got it home, we opened the hood and discovered the battery wasn't even bolted down -- it was just sitting loose, and there was NO transmission fluid even registering in the dipstick! We took the truck to a local shop near us for a second opinion and found out AAMCO had never flushed the radiator or transmission cooler when replacing the transmission -- a critical step to prevent overheating and protect the new transmission. That oversight cost us another $650 to have corrected properly. Communication throughout this entire ordeal was poor at best -- calls were not returned in a timely manner, updates were hard to get, and overall we feel like the quality of work was extremely lacking. We've now spent over $6,700 dealing with transmission issues because of this shop -- not including the lost time, stress, and frustration. We would strongly caution anyone considering AAMCO Transmission and Total Car Care to get a second opinion before trusting your vehicle here. Based on our experience, we absolutely would not recommend them.

If there was an option to put zero stars, I would. This place was VERY unprofessional. I originally…read morehad them replace a transmission (simple right? It's what they advertise) well when they did so they didn't take it out correctly and cracked my water pump. There is no way they did not know either it had to have been leaking all over their shop. Second I had them fix my ac compressor (bottom of the engine bay and on the way home my serpentine belt (that they had to adjust to get to the compressor) came off and hooked on my fan, exploding it and causing it to send shards into my radiator and tear up my wiring harness. When we called and told them they denied it all even though we had the screenshots over text proving they worked on the ac compressor. They denied ever touching the engine bay which is impossible or my AC wouldn't be working. They also charged 700$ more than the original price. Oh I almost forgot they broke my front fan cover and put self tappers into it without asking or telling me they did anything. Overall very unprofessional and put me 5000$ in a hole on top of overcharging me after our original agreement. Also I almost forgot to mention, they got my car really dirty on the inside with engine grease staining my interior permanently. DO NOT GET ANYTHING DONE TO YOUR CAR HERE.

Do not use this business! They totally tried to scam me. Took Jetta in for a simple timing belt…read moreand water pump change. Tried to quote me $1,500 then went up to $1,700. Claimed a $100 rise in water pump costs!? A DEALER quoted me only $791 for same work. Then when I said no, they tried to charge me $100 for a diagnostic!? That means they hooked up their OBD II Scanner and got the code and claimed that it read codes for routine mainenance of water pump and timing belt. Ridiculous! Codes don't tell when it's time for routine maintenance, and Autozone reads this same info FOR FREE!? They get 1 star from me because there's no option for zero stars!

The seat was working fine when dropped off both electrically & manually but when picked-up it wasn't working at all. The car was in/on their premises the entire month they had it but yet they denied it being their fault. Someone had to have known what happened to the seat because the seat molding was cracked where they tried to force it back into position but couldn't. Spoke to mechanic that stated no work was done in the seating area then went to get Blake who came & looked it over then said it could be left to be checked out. I was afraid to leave it again; no telling what would happen to it the 2nd time around; also felt that the charges/fees were to high. So now the car has to go in for seat repairs but it won't be taken to Forza!!!
