Best and freshest seafood market in edmonton! The seafood is not just fresh its super fresh! The seafood is really fresh. So fresh it tastes like the ocean. Sushi made fresh hourly. The freshest salmon in yeg. Poke tuna and salmon is top notch. I discovered this hidden gem from my mom. She always goes here to stock up on fresh seafood. I was blown away with the selection as it is similar to the fish markets in japan. Nothing is frozen here since the items sold, are often gone after a few days. What caught my eye on my last visit was the giant king prawn and the fresh salmon. Both of those items were stellar and I honestly could not rave about it any more. They also have a quick stop catering place for for grab and go items like the crab roll and fish and chips. I really loved the crab roll as I do not know anywhere else that makes these fresh daily! There are tons of specialty items like oils, sauces, pastas, honey... even yogurt sauce. Most of the items are from Italy, france, japan and greece. Another great thing about this place is the little lollipops from france or juice from japan. There is always room for a little extra deliciousness. Absolutely shocked.. My 73-year-old Mother attended church at Resurrection Parish on Sunday morning. She decided to park in the parking lot of the old IGA for Sunday service not thinking it was a big deal as there were no parking signs in the southwest corner of the parking lot and her and her friends have frequently gone for coffee in the strip mall after service was over, not to mention there was not a single car in the whole parking lot. Luckily Church ended early, only to find her car in the air from Cliff's Towing being called out by "Catch of The Week". In shock, my Mother paid the Toe truck driver on the spot to release her vehicle with a hit of $216.25. After she had told me this, we visited the store the next day and asked to speak to the manager. After a long debate, the frustrated manager did not care about pissing off the community in which his Business operates- a very poor business move in my opinion, upon which we were lastly yelled at and told "THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY, NOW GET THE F*CK OFF MY PROPERTY". Very disappointed in the way they handled the situation, and to say the least- we and others we inform will NOT be shopping for extremely overpriced Halibut coming in at $98/ KG!!? Dont know why there is so much negativity towards this store. I thought it was pretty decent. Big selection of seafood and snacks. The service was fast and friendly and knowledgable which was nice. Prices are a bit high but no more than any other place that sells seafood. As soon as I get paid I will be purchasing more. The salmon, pickerel, tilapia have all been great! read more

Well there is a good selection of fish and the staff are friendly and helpful. Large interior that smells like fish. But their $24 frozen crab cakes are awful for 4 crab cakes. Worst I've ever had. And their eat in fish and chips were so greasy and overcooked that the fish shrunk too much that you had to dig to find it. It would be much better value to have pan fried eat in fish as it is less wasteful and healthier. We didn't buy any fresh fish. They have caviar which was a nice find. They also sell fish condiments. So this place may be a niche store but it's so lovely to have a seafood shop like this in the neighbourhood and with such a great selection too! It is one of the best places to find certain local goods but also a good place to pick up marinated seafood/fish and get some really unique canned goods. The restroom is well-appointed and the store is clean and new. There is ample parking and it is on a bus route. Additionally they offer delivery, have hot dishes and sushi available and they offer party platters. I definitely need to come here more often when I want fish! read more

This store has the freshest fish in the city. I used to live in Japan, in a small fishing village on the North coast of Hokkaido. I got used to exceptionally fresh fish of superior quality. Once home in Alberta, though, it has been very hard for me to eat fish at all, because in our land-locked province, it can be very hard to find decent fish. This store is amazing! The fish is fresh and clean-tasting. I'm stunned that we have such a gem in our city. I feel so lucky to have discovered this wonderful store. The people are friendly, the selection is amazing. The prices flat out stupid. This place will not last very long. Everyone I speak to tells me they went once and never again because of their prices. They started out good when they were newly open and went way downhill after that. Went today, Thursday thinking they would be fresh stocked up for Mother's Day weekend. What a disappointment. The fresh fish and seafood looked limp and old and not much of it either. Found out the, "fresh"pickerel fillets", were thawed and from last year. Told to me by the person behind the fish counter. Make sure you ask if their fresh stuff is previously frozen. I ended up only buying frozen fish and seafood. I won't be back, ever. read more

I give four stars coz it is misleading promotion. MEMBERSHIP I spent over $60 on July 21, 2023 and they didn't tell me about membership and free points I can get. The next visit on July 24, 2023, I spent over $70 and I overheard about membership from customers and I have to ask for the membership. When I told her about the points that I spent prior to this visit ( cashier knows it coz I visited there within a week) , she told me that prior visit purchases did not count coz I registered now. But they never told me about the membership until I overheard it. PROMOTION I didn't give five stars is due to misleading promotion. Fliers/Pamphlet mention that spending $50 for free sashimi salmon portion frozen. I spent over $70 on July 24, 2023 and I asked if I get free salad as stated on flier. Cashier told me NO, coz I didn't buy those items identified to get free salad. So that was fine, if I didn't get free salad coz I didn't buy the right item, However, she didn't even offer to tell me I get Free sashimi salmon portion frozen as stated on the flier when I spent over $50 which will end on august 2, 2023. I did spend over $77 that day. And I was trying to understand how the promotion work for those 2 mins talking to her, trying to understand her on how the promo works, and she never mention that since I spent over $50 I could get a free sashimi salmon portion. I told her I have free coupon for fish & chip that I got on prior purchase ( july 21) which expires Aug 31, 2023 that I did not want to use yet. I asked her if there other promo since I spent $77 on july 24, 2023. I showed her the fish & chip coupon ( which I received on July 21, 2023) that I did not want to use on July 24,2023 yet coz it expires August 31, 2023). I asked cashier if there any promo on July 24, 2023 beside the salad. She kept insisting for me to get the fish and chip which I got the coupon on my PRIOR visit (July 21, 2023) which I spent $66. I told her that it expires on August 30, 2023 and I have no intention using it today. I asked her beside the salad promo, is there other promo, she said NO avoiding telling me that there is FREE SASHIMI portion when I spent over $50 and this expire on august 2, 2023. I did not want to use fish & chip coupon that expire August 31, 2023 coz I want the promo that ends on August 2, 2023. Cashier said NO promo beside the salad which I could not get coz I didn't buy the right items, Hence I had to go for the fish & chip reluctantly coz cashier avoided mentioning the free frozen sashimi portion. And I did ask her if there is any promo that end August 2, 2023 beside the salad. She told me NO. I suggested everyone to get and read the flier before you go to the cashier coz she will not tell you the offer. You will have to insist on it. They don't look happy if you ask for the promotion free stuff that stated very clearly " spend over $50, you will get this. For me I would prefer the sashimi salmon than the fish and chip. However she never offers. It seems the cashier is not happy to offer the free promo to the customers. For me, I do not think the cashier has the best customer service. Overall I like the food, seafood and meat there so I will go again. This time, I will read the flier and insist the cashier on the free promo. If it happens again, then I will shop elsewhere The owner of the store introduced himself and gave me the fliers/ pamphlet and told me there were free promo inside the pamphlet. Fairly new place, located in Edmonton Gold Bar. Curious spot to have it, with the price point and product, I would have thought it would go into a more high traffic area. Quality of the frozen fish is very good - as most of the product is frozen. The fresh fish is the usual quality - not really too fresh, but okay. Price point is also average, although they do have some decent sales. However - did try the fish and chips.... If they are like what we had - don't Cooked too long in not hot enough oil resulted in an interesting experience. I HATE interesting. Over cooked, dry fish married with greasy overdone fries. Not at all what we expected. So bad that most of it ended up in the composter. read more

I was googling "sushi grade salmon and tuna" for as long as I can remember but I finally figured out where to find it and I went to this location. When I arrived I was greeted by excellent staff members who explained everything I needed to know, then proceeded to show me around the store of other things i could also buy to make sushi grade salmon (eat raw fish safely) They have great incentives such as their salmon year membership. The name of the place is definitely misleading. There is not a whole lot of fresh fish to be found here, most of it is frozen and about half the stock is pre-cooked foods. The pricing was quite high in comparison to other seafood places, especially considering that it was frozen. The fresh fish they had out wasn't labeled, so I'm not too sure what exactly they had available, but I do believe it was Salmon and Arctic Char. As others have said, there were no dates or anything on the fish so the freshness is a little suspect. The ambiance of the place could definitely use some work. It's a bunch of giant freezers in an office type setting. Not very professional looking at all, which matched the attitudes of the people working. They were very pushy about trying to sell and a lot of their sales tactics involved making me feel guilty for not spending more there. I wouldn't come back. read more

Went to this last Black Friday sale, and not very impressed. Very little is fresh and as stated "frozen". The King crab should have a name change to Queen size. I recommend to stay away from the Aunt Edna frozen products, especially the frozen Lobster Mac and Cheese, words can't describe how awful it is! We bought 4 and 1/2 way into the 2nd one threw them all out, awful fish taste, NO LOBSTER MEAT, looks like "mush" covered with cheese. You'd be better off buying seafood at Costco than this place IMHO. This is my 2nd visit there and my last. The 1st was with a GroupOn voucher. The location and where it is on the back of the building, the pushy sales people(the Asian Lady especially), should be a warning to all. read more

Small local seafood store, not too big but has everything I needed. The staff are friendly and patient with customers. The seafood is not cheap but heh..it's not cheap anywhere ;-) They DO have quite a few deals on a regular basis. Lots of different seafood dishes, just need to put them in the oven. Just went in there to use a groupon. If you think this seafood is decent and well priced you do not buy seafood often. I shop at bicoastal fairly often and it is better quality and better price all day. Honestly dont buy the groupon and go hit bi coastal or fins. I tried to do a review on the groupon thing but couldnt. Owner is a bit pushy for sure, and you could easily end up spending way more then you thought you would because of the strange "deals" they have. read more

I won't go there anymore... I bought a Groupon and went there last month. The customer service was super pushy. Products are overpriced and not even too good. Last week I got a phone call saying that I won the draw. I went back and found out that actually they were just using the price to push u to buy more things. The guy gave us a poster on which there were lots of promotion BUT when we tried to buy it, the guy said: u have to read it carefully coz there is a line on top in literally font size 6 saying "spend over $50". Wow ! Edmonton's New Best Kept Secret...My wife and I discovered this little market quite by accident. I was at the dentist across the lot and upstairs when I asked the DA if any of them had shopped for seafood here, Reply was positive, so down we came and couldn't have samples :-( because of recent cleaning,, blah , blah. The owner gave us a tour and presented his product so well that we spent $80, without knowing about the quality. This small company will succeed, I'm sure, based on customer service and great product. I phoned for cooking directions and was treated so kindly on the phone, I can't say enough about the service. We've had the salmon, the Coquille St. Jacques and the beautiful scampi. 5 stars is what we say. We will be back in that little store soon. Good Luck and keep up the great work, you all. Saw them at the farmers market and thought we would give it a try for my parents 45th anniversary. Yep never going back. The only fresh stuff was salmon. Most of the sea food was freezer burnt and not air packaged properly. For a sea food store to be out done by Superstore shame, shame, shame. Would not recommend the store for anyone! read more

There isn't a "Catch of the Day" as that would imply fresh seafood. There is some (fresh) salmon which is average at best and the rest of ALL the seafood is frozen. Now, you can buy high quality seafood frozen (much is actually fresher that way) but not here. What you get is unlabelled, freezer burnt, dregs of low quality fish. No weights or dates (stay clear!) or origin of catch. Prices are suspect too. Avoid! You'll find better quality at Walmart and that's not supposed to be a compliment, but the quality is better. Try Fins or BiCoastal near West Ed mall. read more

Worst service i have ever received. I went to buy the Valentines Day special and they were sold out, I put a deposit down and they said it would be in on Monday. I got a phone call saying it didn't come in but will Tuesday. Come today,I drove to Catch of the Day and they still hadn't got their shipment. Im a bit upset but decide to look for something else to buy. The owner of the store shows me a package of lobster meat, no shell.Another customer comes in with a groupon! Since I don't get a valentines deal I think the groupon is great! I tell the manager I will use my deposit and the groupon, the manager says "THE GROUPON IS NOT FOR YOU, it is for new customers not repeat costumers!" I tell him i am a new customer and have yet to purchased anything. I was completely shocked the groupon is not for me because i have stepped foot in their store once before. The manager, now upset, says that "[they] won't make any money off the sale." if i use the groupon. I tell the owner i have to make a phone call and when i come back the package of lobster i was going to buy is gone.. The asian woman then tell me that they sold it over the phone(I DON'T BELIEVE THIS AT ALL). I say "can i speak with the manager?" to which the asian woman begins YELLING at me saying that i have to say please to her and that the owner is busy but he said IF I BUY THE LOBSTER FULL PRICE WITHOUT THE GROUPON THEY WILL SELL IT TO ME. Wow. When i speak to the owner he yells at me saying i'm greedy and only think of my wallet and not that he won't be making money on my sale, he tells me he can refuse the groupon to whoever he wants and continues to yell at me. The worst part is i believe in supporting our community and fellow Albertans opposed to large corporation. I couldn't believe the terrible service, being yelled at, lies and horrible salesmanship. The owner did advise me not to purchase the Groupon, he said specifically that the Groupon was not for me as I had stepped into the store prior to buying it. I don't understand why you would have a Groupon if you only lose money. I was a regular customer of their farmers markets and was glad to see they finally opened a store in my neighborhood! After a few times as a regular customer I saw and bought a groupon to use for my next visit. Spreading the word, my daughter unfortunately bought me a groupon for Christmas. When I went in to use it, the owners recognized me and said that I couldn't use another groupon as it was only for new customers and I had already used one!! I tried to explain that the Groupon does not stipulate that and you were allowed to buy one and give one as a gift. I explained that my daughter bought me one for Christmas and I should be allowed to use my gift. That's when the owner lost it! I mean he was yelling and berating me in front of many other customers saying that they lose money on the groupons and there weren't going to accept it because of their rules they are allowed as private business owners. I have never had this happen and have used Groupon for many years and tried to explain why I thought it was wrong. Then he ordered me and my friend out of the store!! It was humiliating and wrong on so many levels. How can you just start a business and treat a regular customer that way? I understand that many times businesses have to lose a little on a groupon, but he couldn't have cared that he lost two lifetime customers for a few dollars from a groupon that he could have written off as a business expense! If you feel strongly about his actions today, don't support this business. This man should not work with the public, he cannot control his anger. He even put his hands on my friend at one point. It was so wrong how we were treated and no one should have to be humiliated in a place of business when you are there to use something that was legally purchased as a gift. We were sitting in the car in shock after being asked to leave the store when a lady who was in the store at the time and witnessed the owner's deplorable treatment of us came over to our car. She said "just so you know I thought that man was unbelievably rude and you didn't deserve to be treated that way so I will never set foot in that store again....I don't need seafood that bad"!! read more
