My friends and I did the Zombie Refuge room this evening in celebration of my 30th birthday, and were far from impressed with the staff. The guy working there was not at all enthused or pleasant to work with. He barely greeted us, wasn't in the spirit. Also, the video intro that we were asked to observe before our time started very clearly stated that clues would not be used twice, and yet one of the puzzles was only solvable by reusing a clue. When we pointed this out to the guy after, he denied it repeatedly. He refused to acknowledge the error, despite all 6 of us being confident it was in the video. The idea for the room was cool, but there were some executional flaws. And it ended very abruptly on our escape. It didn't feel like there was any closure. Finally, when we escaped our room, the staff made no attempt to come get us in a timely manner. When he did finally come get us, he said "that's it. Thanks guys" and offered us no opportunity to take a photo with the props, didn't tell us our final time, or invite us to come back again. As an escape room aficionado, I expect a higher caliber of service and immersion than my friends and I received during this visit. Will not be returning. read more

Agree with previous review about the person working there not being enthused or pleasant to work with. We arrived early (as you normally do for escape rooms) and he was so flustered that he "wasn't even open yet". Not sure what he was doing but he did not bring us back to the room until our exact minute of our start time. No one else was even there. We did not escape our room, and this is the first escape room where I have not been told how to exit the room or how close we were to exiting the room. All he said was "if you want to know how to escape then you will have to come back and try again". Very unsatisfying. Obviously would not pay money again to go and complete the exact same escape room knowing all the clues that we were able to figure out during our time in there. Will not be returning and would not recommend. read more

Not for kids, even if you have adults. Staff was super nice but the birthday party idea flopped because the kid one was so tough. We even had a kid and adult in the group not new to escape rooms and they struggled. Again- not a reflection of the staff, they were great! Just not a thin for 9-12 year olds even if you do the kid version. read more

First of all, I liked how the employee would assist us when we were confused with a puzzle to solve the employee would simplify the questions to guide us better. The event we had was a 11 year old birthday party. Everything was set up nicely, and private. When it was time for the kids to go into the escape room, they were right on time. I am so confused. My friend and I booked the late to the tailgate room. We are very experienced with escape rooms having done 56 prior to this room. We have done a room here in the past and it wasn't very good as things were broken and overall a not very fun experience. We decided to give this place another shot. Straight off the bat we were told this was a very technological room. Where was the technology? Things you would have thought you would need to complete with the clues given to you were never even used. We were always confused as to how we got from point A to point B having no idea how something even opened revealing the next clue when we never even complete the prior clue in the first place. A lot of things were given to us that we never even had to use and the room just seemed very thrown together. We escaped with almost 20 minutes left which is crazy! We have never escaped any room with more than 5 minutes remaining before. The ending of this room seemed very abrupt as we didn't even know we escaped until we looked at the screen to see how much time we had left where it then stated we had won the game. Very disappointed in this room. Very disappointed in the price for the poor quality of the room and experience. We were very underwhelmed. 10/10 do NOT recommend! Do not go here. It was my first, and last, experience with an escape room. Don't "cheat" wtf that means?!? Paid $30 for 20 minutes of our 60 min game. How can you cheat if you've never even played before? After your reply: we were NEVER warned after the first time we "cheated" and we were never told what qualified as "cheating." First time ever attempting an escape room and had a total blast. The only sad part was that we didn't " escape " from our room. If we had 15 more minutes, I think that our group would of " made it out alive " From the start to finish we received helpful clues to move on within the allotted time frame. I will be back in the future to try the other rooms. Plus I'd be back to retry the room that my group was in with the hopes of " escaping " within the allotted time. read more

I took my team here and we had a blast digging through Nana's Room. It was clever, surprising and yes difficult for the three of us to finish in an hour. The host at the desk was great and she made the experience fun for us. It is so worth it to challenge oneself. Take a part and try your luck. read more

LOVED! I was going through my camera roll and saw the photos from this and immediately went to write this review. Rooms are challenging, but so much fun! Especially love how they have one for kids- as escape rooms can be freaky for some little ones. Nanas Study was amazing! The team was great as well, especially the man working ours. I should have figured there was a reason why this was the only escape room available in the city. From the first impression of their technology not working to no keys available for their locks, had I not already paid online, I would have left. The "host" barely gave any instructions to the group (who had never done this before), and what instructions she gave were wrong. The experience was very cheap and certainly not worth the $30/person. read more

This has to be the best escape room I have done in the area to date. I tried the other two and thought this one was more thought out clues connected. I felt that with everyone working together in our small group of 6, we were close to escaping (even though we didn't). The customer service was great and the overall atmosphere was most enjoyable. With my experience from Catch 22 Escape rooms, i've never done escape rooms before coming. When i did them, they were challenging but I had a lot of fun. The difficulty was way more challenging in the Monster and Cellphobia, but that's obvious because they are considered the hardest rooms. I did love trying something new and put myself up for a challenge. All the rooms are very interesting and i recommend it to everyone who wants to be put up for a challenge and just want to have fun with their families and etc. The staff was just so considering and it was very neat to have them walk through the room for us, even though we didn't escape. I love escape room, I have been to many before at other places and have left very happy. This place however was a different story. I came with a big group of people so we buzzed through the game fairly quickly. With 30 mins left we were told that we were on our last step. We had figured out the last puzzle within 5-10mins but nothing happened, so we assumed that we didn't sometime wrong. With 5 mins left we had asked for a some clues and it turned out we had it right on the first try but this particular puzzle was broken so we had no idea. Everyone in our group was very disappointed with this ending, as we all felt we didn't escape because of this error." Other then that it was a fun experience. While the decor was good I found the Cell Phobia ridiculously difficult to the point we only got to the control room. While I would be happy to try another room in the future I would not recommend that room to anyone. read more

We visited the Brookfield location on Sunday, April 2, 2023. From the beginning, oír visit was not great. Not only was the young girl working at the counter very rude to us, and it seemed like we were ruining her day by just being there. She ended up starting us almost 20 minutes late, and as a result, we lost our reservations at the restaurant. Besides the point, we can deal with rude customer service, but the zombie room it self was very frustrating! The first issue we had was the tv in the main room. It kept glitching out and we couldn't hear what was being said. The second issue with the tv, is that we had to listen for a specific clue/hint/code/don't want to spoil it, and everytime she'd replay it, it would glitch again, we easily wasted an addition 20 minutes before she just gave in and gave us the whole code. Second, the batteries in two of the main components (gun and flashlight) both had batteries that didn't work! We had to hit the flash light a bunch and it would only flicker. Lastly, the animatronic zombies stopped working about halfway through. We spent a lot of money, for a room that we feel wasn't properly prepared, and the girl was super rude. We've done a lot of escape rooms in the past, including here, but this was one of the worst experiences ever. In the future, I'd leave a bit more time between bookings so that they aren't running so late. read more

I have been to a dozen or so different escape rooms and ABSOLUTELY love the experience. We were all excited to try a new location and the plot was GREAT. We were in the MONSTER room and the whole purpose of that Escape room was GREAT, and most of the puzzles were solveable, but the one puzzle to finish according to all of us was not. We even asked the host and she couldn't tell us how we were supposed to get the last clue. That was frustrating and irritating. We had 2 puzzles that we could not figure out and 1 i believe we just all missed. I think it is GREAT to have one we do not complete, because i love the challenge, and i am not upset about the 1 puzzle, but the other was, in my estimation, unsolvable with the clues given. Fix the 1 puzzle and you have a GREAT adventure!! Also maybe 6 people instead of 8 would be better. The rooms are to small for 8. read more

When my dad came out to the West Coast last Fall to visit me, we tried our first escape room and were hooked. So when I came home for Christmas, we were eager to try another. I was really surprised by how many there are in the Milwaukee area, but we chose Catch 22 because there was a Groupon for the room I wanted to play. I can summarize my review by saying I'm glad we used a Groupon. The employees were nice and we had an ok time, but Catch 22 was honestly kind of disappointing after how awesome our first experience was. They should not be booking 6 people into Nana's Study. The room itself is way too small for that many and there aren't enough puzzles to solve to occupy that many people. It really detracts from the fun when you can barely turn around without bumping into someone. It also detracts from the fun when you have two bad knees (like my dad) and the only way to get to the second part of the room is to crawl. It's fine to design a room that way, but they need to have some kind of notice about it in the description on the website so that people know ahead of time and can wear knee pads or pick a different room. Not warning people is just setting them up for frustration, and that's not a smart business strategy. We're willing to give Catch 22 another try, but only if the other escape rooms in the area are equally disappointing. read more

The staff was so helpful giving us all the information we needed prior to the party and letting us know what was going to happen during. We had a very wonderful experience here in the Candidate Room. The room was well put together. Game Masters/owners were personable and fun. They offered us free lockers for our things which I thought was a nice touch. We plan to go back soon to try another room. read more

The escape room it's self was fun and we enjoyed it BUT.! There was a point where the workers stopped paying attention to our room. We repeatedly asked for our second clue and asked questions with no answers for about 20-25 minutes. We had figured out the correct code for an automatic door and tried it about 12 times but nothing happened. Once the workers returned to our screen they began giving us hints for things we had already completed so they began asking which task we had already completed. Then after they confirmed that we had the correct code to the door, only then did it open after we had already tried it several times. By then we only had one task left to complete but we also only had 1 minute left when 20 minutes of our time had already been neglected. But the room it's self was fun... read more

I was in a group of four that visited Catch 22 for the first time this weekend. We were paired with a couple to make a group of 6- which at first, was a little awkward, but when you're working on that common goal, you get comfortable. We didn't make it out of the escape room, but it was definitely something fun to do differently in the Brookfield area on the weekend. I bet it would be a great small group team building activity for employees. It was challenging and fun! You almost felt like you were honestly trying to escape and the hour goes quickly.
